Don’t borrow something that you cannot afford (or won’t willingly wish to) replace or pay for should you lose and/or damage that item. The responsibility is always with the borrower, not the lender. However, that said, think six times at least before you lend something to a friend that has significant value, simply because you always run the risk of having a friendship destroyed should a situation like this occur.
I don't think it was a planned attack on Heather, but I do think she could see it that way, given that Megan came at her first telling her none of them liked her, then the Justin thing and then Jeff taking her down and throwing in Kelly and Krista too. These were all people she believed were her friends and maybe she's a crappy friend, maybe she's self absorbed but Jeff used things he knew were important to her, like the WWHL stuff making sure she doesn't appear on that again and that actually is a take down. I hope they just all move on for it because I really don't care to hear every little thing Heather has ever done to them, they all hung out with her after she did whatever they accused her of. I think it’s very sad that long term friendships have ended and that private things have been shared publicly. Much like the Markle saga with all the lies but that on a MUCH bigger scale. IMO the only reason Jeff is doing this is because of his falling out with Julie Goldman and Brandy Howard. I agree she should have handled it up front, but I'm also hearing some inconsistencies where Krisra is concerned so I find that puzzling. So it’s possible -now I am speculating- Heather thought that because they weren’t worth much (to a millionaire) and Krista never asked for them back, never mentioned it even when they hung out in person, Heather may have thought it wasn’t a big deal.

Imo HMD is probably relieved this has turned into Earring-gate because then she doesn't have to address telling Justin to "get over" the homophobic slurs and defaming comments and death threats. A girlfriend wanted to go through my jewelry for a big occasion. No way. It's my jewelry and no way would I lend it out. A cousin borrowed a pearl necklace that my dad gave me when I was 5...my first piece of good jewelry. Guess what? It broke and flew all over the room. Heather comes out ahead monetarily in this situation because if she still has the one earring she can have other jewelry made out of that. People, when you use something that belongs to somebody else return it in the same or better condition than when you used it; here's one simple example if you borrow someone's car. No I've never experienced that one myself, it's just an example and it's correct. So it’s possible -now I am speculating- Heather thought that because they weren’t worth much (to a millionaire) and Krista never asked for them back, never mentioned it even when they hung out in person, Heather may have thought it wasn’t a big deal.

Wow. Aside from celebrities it DOES NOT matter the cost or monetary value of ANYTHING. The earrings, in this case, did not belong to Heather. Return them. Heather comes out ahead monetarily in this situation because if she still has the one earring she can have other jewelry made out of that. People, when you use something that belongs to somebody else return it in the same or better condition than when you used it; here's one simple example if you borrow someone's car. No I've never experienced that one myself, it's just an example and it's correct. But back to the earrings, especially considering what she was doing when she was wearing those earrings she could have asked Krista do you want me to have them freshly cleaned before I return them Crystal probably would have said no it's no big deal but she could have asked but she was irresponsible and didn't bother trying to find the one that fell off of her. I am truly disgusted by all people who want to act like other people's property is no big deal. They don't care and they're so flippant.
