  • Jeff pulls and welds the differential in the Lexus SC300 drift car. Not too bad for his first time welding a diff. This isn't really a tutorial, but if you want some tips on my process, skip to 2:37 in the video. One more step in getting the SC400 drift build to the track.
    Parts and tools used:
    Free All Penetrating Oil: amzn.to/2E4CmfK
Gear Oil Gasket Maker for the diff cover: amzn.to/2EoAyQm
    Non-Chlorinated Brake Cleaner: amzn.to/2NnUFkA
    Real Gaff (Gaffer) tape: amzn.to/2U0BP5j
I used a Hobart Handler 140 for welding. This is an updated model: amzn.to/2NjjXA8 Guess I gotta get that one now. It goes to 5!

I know I said that the next video would be installing the gauges, but that involves pouring over footage going back over a year which will take forever. I will get to that soon, but in the meantime you can watch me bumble around with a MIG welder trying to look like I know what I'm doing.

Just finished watching the playlist of the SC build today and then got the notification for a new video and was thrilled. The build looks amazing and I can't wait to see it all come together! Even though long gaps between videos can be frustrating as a viewer, it's amazing to see an honest representation of what having a project car can be like for an every day guy. Keep up the hard work!

Thanks for watching and commenting. Yeah I'm paying all the bills for this build, so things tend to take longer than bigger channels. The woes of being a small RUclipsr. It takes time to get everything done on the car without taking out loans or going into debt. I try to get a video out every two weeks, but sometimes that goes longer. It's nearly track ready now, so track footage will be coming soon!

Welded pretty good for a handler140. If you want more penetration i wouldnt get the updated version probably better off getting a handler 190 something that plugs into 220 if you have the outlets

    • @FullySpooled

The 140 has been doing great so far. I don't have the outlets for 220, but honestly I haven't needed the extra power yet. @@FullySpooled no problem at all, it's not going anywhere fast. I had a similar issue with my power steering, slight leak from the rack that was in the car when I bought it. I let it go for almost 2 years since I parked on the gravel next to my driveway. I finally decided to replace the unit with a reman from Autozone, first day in the car is blew a side seal. Such a pain. Where the banjo fittings go, be sure the powder coat is perfect, otherwise scrape it down to the aluminum on the seat area for the copper washer. Mine leaked there too.

Normally I agree, but this grease was put in a place that has no moving parts and was not designed for it. So it just sprayed out all over the under side of the car and made a mess.
