    It's time to deal with our Nissan X-trail's cooling system leak! This time I show you how to flush the cooling system and replace my leaking radiator with a brand new unit.
    The whole process is fairly easy to do. It can be done by one person with basic tools. Although this video show you how to do it on a Nissan X-trail, it is pretty much the same procedure on most vehicles.

    Very well done. As you say, others have a different way, and they'll find their own 'thang'. Thanks again for taking the time to make the tutorial and share it mate.

    Great video..thanks so much. I have to change mine as well. I saw that we can find them in 16mm and 26mm thickness core. I reckon the one I have is 16mm. Any suggestions? Which one did you put there? Thanks in advance

    I'm replacing the radiator in my 2004 X-Trail today. So it was good to watch someone else do it first :)

    Great Vid! I was reading on the Xtrail forum that if you don't use the Nissan brand coolant you run the risk of blown head gasket. Apparently it has something to do with sand casting issues when they make the 2.5ltr engine. Do you know if Nulon coolant has the same specs?

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  4 года назад

      Not sure about the specs on the Nulon. Yes I've read about using genuine Nissan coolant. If you really want to be on the safe side, then getting the Nissan coolant is a good idea. At the end of the day what they recommend has been tested by their engineers to work with their engines.

    Thanks for the video, soon I want to replace the radiator too in my Xtrail. So, your video is very helpful to me.
    I want to ask, is there any bolt or screw to bleed the air in Xtrail while refuelling the coolant?

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  3 месяца назад +1

      Not that I know of. Just fill it up with coolant and let it idle without the radiator cap until the engine reaches normal temperature. Top up coolant if need be then put cap on.

      @@ruggedlife Sometimes I wonder why the procedures are simpler in Xtrail T30 than many more modern cars, but it is. I really enjoy using T30.

    Very nice video Marvin, thank you.
    I wanted to ask why one thermostat is 92c, and the other is 88c? If I change the 92c thermostat and put 88c, what will change?

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  Год назад +1

      Cheers. That's the temperature when the auxiliary fans turn on. If you change from 92c to 88c it means that fan will activate at 88c instead of 92c.

    hi thanks for the video, how is the new radiator and coolant so far after 4 years? any leaks or whatsoever? Because i am also going to use the same Nulon coolant as i cant get the OEM Nissan coolant here.

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  2 года назад +1

      There is a small leak on the top row but it is due to the fact that one of the top mounts that hold the radiator is loose so it affected the radiator.
      Not the radiators fault.

    My mechanic replaced the top part of the radiator with a metal plate. Today someone advised me that the metal cover affect the cooling system of the car and it will intern affect the engine. How best do I go about it.

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  Месяц назад +1

      Just leave radiator cap off, turn on car and let it get too perating temp. You'll see some bubles from the filler. Level might go down so keep topping up. Wait a while until no bubbles remain. Close cap.
