As a teacher educator for over 50 years, I nominate Joan as the greatest teacher of the 21st century. His inculcating his students in so many different jazz traditions, his exquisite taste, and his way of bringing the student out ito the real world of performance. Every teacher should emulate this greatest role model.
In baseball, there's a common term used--"having a deep bench"--that is, having so many outstanding players that any individual can be relied upon to shine and excel when their moment comes. Joan Chamorro's SAJB musicians and singers have always been a "deep bench." As we can see here, Alba Armengou has matured in confidence and sophistication in the way she sings a song, and her singing talents have grown so much even from just a few years ago. But I also can't wait to hear Joana's first showcase CD, because she has such a charisma and style all her own. Then there's Alba Esteban--perhaps underappreciated by many, but I like seeing her in the spotlight more often. She certainly deserves it. Elia continues to show her many talents as well. And who doesn't love seeing Carla play--gentle yet intense at the same time. Everyone else is so professional and classy. Again, a deep bench!
Garry, an eloquent and accurate comment as usual :-) You make my life easier, because I don't have to struggle writing it all myself. The depth - could not agree more. They catch me in between - it's so great to see them developing and maturing, but this also means they will be gradually and inevitably dropping out of this team to pursue their own goals. Selfishly, I wish they would be jazzy goals, but above all I wish them to be successful, happy and satisfied with whatever they chose to do. The hope is they will once in a while reunite to produce another splendid show (this is what Andrea is doing), and the second hope is that the depth will long continue to be non-disappointing :-)
@@lechtrzeciak6084 Thanks for your very kind comment. Yes, it's always a little sad to see these great musicians and singers eventually "leave the nest" of the band to pursue their individual careers, but as you said, it's also that much more thrilling to see them return occasionally as guests. Joan Chamorro has that special talent of bringing in new, fresh faces that will no doubt grow into the kind of stars we've seen throughout the first (almost) 15 years of the SAJB.
@@garryberman894 I believe LA MAGIA DE LA VEU 3 is a new group consisting of senior SAJB members and those who no longer are considered members plus pros on piano and drums. Both could become members of this new group. Carla, Elia and Alba A are also members of the The New Quartet.
Garry Berman, very well said! I'm a long-time baseball guy, so I really like and relate to your analogy. I don't know how Joan Chamorro finds "all" of these young, extremely talented musicians. He must have an incredible farm system of some kind.

I love that song the first time I heard it even though I have no idea of the meaning of the words but the music and blend of voices they make is simply beautiful.
For a long time I've thought of Joan Marti and Marçal Perramon as the equivalent of the 2 Franks (Wess and Foster) from the classic Basie Band of the 50s. Each new video reinforces my opinion of them.
Esta cancion le queda perfecta a Alba !! Cuanta sutilesa y melancolia.
A pleasure to hear another fine performance from St Andreu. It is true Alba Armengou is sounding very good in this style, and it is a pleasure to make the visual and pianistic acquanitance of your excellent arranger, Joan Monné!
Glenn Henrich: I too was wondering whether this is the first time (ever?) I've seen the mysterious Svengali/Salieri figure behind the SAJB's world-class arrangements ...? R (Australia) Additional: I've since seen a few more SAJB videos featuring Monné on piano ... very good player, too!

Vem, me dê a mão

Geez. So wonderful to be transported through this music. Just amazing. THANK YOU.
I love the sound coming out of that Flute so clear and beautiful
A pleasure to hear another fine performance from St Andreu. It is true Alba Armengou is sounding very good in this style, and it is a pleasure to make the visual and pianistic acquanitance of your excellent arranger, Joan Monné!
Glenn Henrich: I too was wondering whether this is the first time (ever?) I've seen the mysterious Svengali/Salieri figure behind the SAJB's world-class arrangements ...? R (Australia)
Additional: I've since seen a few more SAJB videos featuring Monné on piano ... very good player, too!
You are the Great Teachure, Joan! The children from your school starting really to understand jazz, complicated and adult music, so early, this is fantastic!
I started watching this last night around eleven and it's now around 9.30 in the morning and not a trace of insomnia ! Thank you Alba & Co and now I'll float off to the shower..
It could not be less than perfect when you read the performers list.
Sensacional! Incrível a delicadeza da interpretação . Emocionante! Parabéns a todos.
Hermosa selección de temas. Gran interpretación. Gracias maestro Joan!!!
you all are wonderful. Thank you maestro. This beautiful song reminds me of my father❤️
Grande Chico Buarque. Linda canção. Minha filha escutava muito quando nenem.
Beautiful! The instrument mix is very interesting and easy to listen to. Loved the guitar solo!!
Just gorgeous
Such beautiful music! Alba Armengou's singing is so flowing and beautiful!
Alba Armengou. maravillosa por su versatilidad.
Please come to England, would give anything to see this wonderful band.
! Caramba!
Muchas gracias. Los oigo y veo desde Puebla, México.
So smooth and melodic this tune and Alba is as wonderful as always! Backing vocals and music is fantastic!
Great Suff, I love listening to Alba sing. Thank you 👍
