Tema: Upa Neguinho (Edu Lobo)
Eva Fernández (saxo)
Rita Payés (trombón)
Lucía Fumero (piano)
Magalí Datzira (contrabajo)
Featuring Dani Domínguez (batería)
I have not seen Eva play in that style before!
I think Barcelona must be a city of miracles.
After watching this masterpiece of talent one of the best things is the young girls in the front row with wonderment in there thinking can I do that? Yes you can go see Joan
I love how Rita stepped aside and even kneeled down during Eva’s solo respect taught at a young age this is so good I love every note
These young women have such a great degree of respect for each other. They so obviously delight in each other's achievements. Here's two videos of Rita, radiant with pleasure to be singing and playing again with Eva and Magali...

Samba Jazz espetacular brilhantemente interpretado pelas jovens e talentosíssimas meninas catalãs. Elis Regina ficaria muito orgulhosa. Parabéns ao grupo e muito obrigado!
It is not beyond reason to say that some of the best new jazz music is coming from Spain and specifically, Barcelona. I am familiar with the three young ladies in the group from the SAJB but I am so impressed by the pianist Lucia Fumero. I want to see and listen to much more of her. I watched a concert she appeared at and marveled at her virtuosity and creative ideas she displayed. I wanted to leave a comment expressing my laudatory feelings but the comments were disabled on that video. Please continue to present music from these young ladies and of course Ms. Fumero and Ms. Payes.
ruclips.net/video/mjpt-PeZW7g/видео.html In case I didn't know him
@SmartlyWealthy I know it is a Brazilian song, I referenced Elis Regina the top Brazilian singer, in my opinion. The jazz music I am speaking about is coming from Barcelona, Spain.
@SmartlyWealthy Smartly: Great name!! We watch the SAJB grads continue to climb to new musical heights almost daily and it is a fun time for all.
Robert: Agreed Ms Fumero is also a talent who should be included in the Jazz world of Spain especially Barcelona .Much like so many of the SAJB "grads" she brings instrumental and vocal talent to the show and sings a little Portuguese.
Do you know, is she of Spain? If so, home town?
I believe she is from Spain perhaps local. Her father Horacio is a well-known bassist who can be seen playing in other videos with Rita Payes and her mother Elizabeth Romo and on videos with his daughter. Lucia, I believe, appears also with her uncle and in her own concert. This is just information I derived on my own just from very little observations I have made from watching RUclips videos. I love Lucia Fumero's music.
Wow Eva can really play that sax‼️👍…great vocal from Rita too‼️👍
La musica brasileña és muy rica. Ejecución primorosa.
Payes
Thankfully, I'm always amazed at these superb musicians.
Ficou espetacular! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
These young ladies of SAJB alumni can really play. They are showing that they have great improvisation skills as well, when not constrained by big band charts. Delightful to watch.
Eva can wail. How refreshing to see these young ladies finding their ‘voices’, as they mature as jazz artists. Delightful to watch and listen to.
just checked out the originals of this in brazil...this is better...
Quite better, indeed
Just lovely to see such talented people having fun to please others! Thank you ALL!
Simplesmente espetacular.
I have lots of favorites from st Andreu band and members but I keep coming back to this I listen to this performance many times a week
It is a perfect gem isn't it? Its also the amount of fun they're having. Rita has never looked so delighted with a performance. Magali calling out her approval to Eva.
Magali having super fun with jazz with the goliards

😘 do Brasil.
Sorry second comment the smiles when it was over made me cry
Tremendas cracks de la música!
Worldclass!
You blow my mind! Muchas gracias y thank you very much und Dankeschön!!!! 😍☮️
Parabéns representaram a MPB Brasileira de forma esplêndida.
Verdade José Alexandre. É imenso prazer vermos nossa MPB em grande estilo!
An All Star band!
No dejan de sorprenderme ...muy buenos
fantastico !!!!!
Great playing all around, but that girl on the soprano! Amazing solo, and I don't believe she can be much older than 20. Bravo!
Not sure exactly how old Eva Fernandez is but she has almost ten years' performing behind her

A solid Bass from pretty Magila .
Stupendous performance by all the girls ! Not forgetting the excellent left-handed drummer.
It grows on me--I still need to hear it at least 3 times in a row. What innovation! Chamorro has done great work and here it is for all to see and hear. Miss Fumero comes by her abilities naturally as well. Not familiar with the drummer, but he does great work. Very impressive, girls and guy.
Please show us more videos with these talented young ladies, I want to listen to more of their music. I am so impressed with Lucia Fumero, Rita, Eva and Magali. I especially love Ms. Fumero's original pieces. This was sung by my favorite singer Elis Regina and I loved it. This version was dynamite!
Covid19 has been a horrible event for humanity. Can i just say what a joy it is listening to these extremely talented ladies.Having discovered Rita during this time has certainly brightened my world..
@@TB-rq1hz There are many videos of Rita on RUclips with the SAJB and with other groups but the more sensitive ones are with her mother Elizabeth Roma. Rita is proficient in many genres, jazz, brazilian, latin, and fado. She is a real talent. All these young ladies are.
@@Bobmartiz1 Thanks so much for the post. i have been doing exactly that. Again, i love the fact that she is so versatile.I was quite surprised when she sang some 'jazz standards' as well. I also need to mention the astounding talent of Lucia Fumero on piano as you have also noted. Music & the world, especially at this time needs this new talent.
@@TB-rq1hz I'm fully with you in loving Lucy. Her classical/eclectic/folk/jazz aesthetic perhaps gets most explored with her young friend Rita.
In case you haven't found it yet, a recent performance in Madrid...

Would love to see more of this ensemble. Great music, while having a lot of fun.

Pick up jazz. Each of these great musicians can play together in a moments. I love them all but my heart goes to ... I can’t decide. I listen to this right before I go to sleep with the bass line in my head all night
Gran versión, chicas !
The SAJB daughters Are grew up and now they are very good musicians!
That was so damn good! Q
As usual Joan Chamorro kids proved to be nothing but excellent
These guys have enough power to light Barcelona. Raunchy. Eva much improved, confident. Funeral funky as always.
Grazie a tutte.

Incredible! Will comment further if I find words...
... now I'm very sure this is the 'doctor' proof of the "Joan Chickens".. They now do any track in their very own way!
I have run out of words as well to praise these kids
Stumbling into this track after some 5 months, again I'm caught by this bunch of hep cats. Watching them partying the tune makes my heart swing, seeing how they join their friends with looks and moves. Not to blame Dani for his contribution, but I miss Abril on the skins to make the girl gang complete
Monk meets Brazil
God, I love these girls! I love this band
The horns bring to mind the Jazz Crusaders.
I have a listen to this piece 100 times and it gives me goosebumps every single time
There is a brilliant version a year or so later with just Lucia and Rita, done as an encore to their excellent hour long concert. Rita is heavily pregnant but really on top of it. There is also a version after that at the Jamboree Club with this line up (different drummer). Longer and after Rita's baby. Its good but Rita looks tired. She's back on form in later concerts.
this is the first soprano that I heard that sounds like a sax and not like oboe, it'd be kind of you the tell which make it is. Thank you! Gorgeous song, brilliantly executed.
Bravo les filles !
i just love it when muscians are enjoying playing like this quintet. Just having fun! What is it about Brazilian Portuguese that makes the music so accessible despite the fact that one dosen't speak or understand Portuquese?
everything of Rita and Lucia F togehter is so fine. pray they do more! this is so nice.....
I hope you found this

Joan's seeds and a lot of hard work and talent blossoming!
Mr. Dratman, take a look at the website ClasiJazz Valparaiso Big Band, Jan 21, 2021. Rita were in this great band and Eva played solo, lead, and with some or all of the band until it ended about 5-6 mins later. She was one of seven of "our girls" who joined the other ten females. Yes all women, but so what? The SAJB players were: 1) Elsa A. who did a duet with the clarinetist for about a minute. Elsa has beautiful tone and was solid in her new role. Several of the SAJB players watched every second of her playing seemed to be sending her lots of good vibrations 2) and 3) two more trumpets Alba A. and Andrea M. too were great. 4) Carla M. on guitar-she got a few brief solos. 5) Rita was our one and only trombone and her section was also wonderful. Reed section was 5 total and two came from SAJB. 6)Eva played the alto like she wrote the music but I think the song writer is a Canadian. 7) Alba E. on bari opened the piece and at the end of the music she ended it. Did Joan Chamorro do that? I think so. Its a lot of fun to see some of "our girls" grow up and get some great opportunities. About the Trombone section they were there to add volume and make it sound like a jazz band from the '30s and '40s. The piece, "Seafarer" was written by
a saxophonist and it felt like she wrote it for the reeds. Just my opinion, in fact she could have written it for a trio of kazoo players and it still would have played well; the other sections were that good.
You missed out alto saxophonist Irene Reig, an early member of the SJAB who directed the beginning of Seafever which was written by Christine Jensen the sister of trumpeter Ingrid Jensen.
I love you! Thank you!!! It`s so fantastic!!! 💖💖💖
Rita's unbelievable!!!
I have not heard Fumero before. I really like her playing style. Great group.
Her father is an excelente musician too.
Love it!

Fantastico!!! Thanks much Sergio for posting. Know Magali, Eva and Rita well from SAJB but these other musicians are also great, and the song was great fun!! Lucia marvelous playing and singing.
Love these young people and Dani on the bateria.

Hi the person who edit that video..
how you chose the frame in 0:28 ?,?,?
if she is playing, she cant just stand and hug the sax .
That group is Gooooood, Super !!!
There are six time shifted-inserts in the video. But this is often the case when a live performance is shot on a budget with some friends taking ad hoc video. Even the great Ramon Tort shooting the SAJB performances resorted to running brief clips backward and then forward to better fulfil our visual narrative expectations. (The camera operator had failed to get the start of the particular shot needed.)
You missed the other five. But most folk would miss all six. And that's the point. The call is to create lively visual flow and variety, mirroring the music, rather than mere flat-footed documentary. I think the editing did a great job with less than perfect working "footage".
Lol.. its looks like a got replied from the man who edited this video (is that you ?)

@@posford Not me. But I've made and edited a few movies, and know something of making the best of less than perfect material. This music, however, was peak stuff and I applaud the video editor for not letting the visual side down.
@@fliprim thank you
Lucia Fumero is a sensational creative spirit drawing inspiration from Radiohead, Steve Reich, Classical, Latin and Iberian roots. Her arrangements (like this one) and her original compositions promise great riches, thrills, spills, sweetness and sorrow. Like a Jacob Collier she has figured out a more direct route into our emotions than most musicians ever will.
It seems she stumbled upon the treasure trove of talent from SAJB via her friend Rita Payes. So many possibilities await this alignment of talent.
Here's Lucia and Rita a year or so later. The variety is amazing.
