I miss these days/nights of T.V. I'm 43, I grew-up on "Knight-Rider, A-Team, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Battlestar Galactica, Hunter, Riptide, StreetHawk, Airwolf, Fantasy Island, etc." Nowadays, it's all about reality T.V. If I could go back to those times, I would gladly.
I stopped watching TV years ago, youtube has way better content now. I kind of love how random people with cell phones can make more compelling content than multi million dollar corporations. Really shows how bad they suck.
Me too , i saw this show referenced on Road Kill the motor trend show - I had totally forgotten about it. Man those were the days. Remember the sears Christmas catalog? www.wishbookweb.com/FB/1983_Sears_Wishbook/
Grew up watching this show. Loved it! It was funny that he was a race car driver who couldn't outrace anyone. Brian Keith proved you could be in decent shape as an old man. Rip Brian.
I miss those good old days of the 1980s. I’m 34 now, and I still miss those classic shows: KNIGHT RIDER, THE A-TEAM, HARDCASTLE & MCCORMICK, T.J. HOOKER, SPENSER: FOR HIRE, STREET HAWK, AIRWOLF, and HUNTER.
This series was great.....I have al 65 Episodes + Pilot on DVD now. There was also MacGyver, The A-Team, Knight Rider, Stingray, Streethawk, Airwolf and many other series in TV which were also nice too, but Hardcastle & McCormick was always my favorite series.
I have to admit that I appreciate these kinds shows of shows even more 30 years later. Also, because I grew up in LA it's fun being reminded of how it looked when I was a kid. A double dose of good time nostalgia.
You could not be more right. This to me was TV at its greatest. Now days TV is like watching water boll. I can remember as a kid these were my favorited TV shows. But TV as it was will never be again.
This show proves Brian Keith's great range as an Actor. He merged from a Compassionate caring family man in Family Affair, to a gruff grouchy Judge in this show.
Season 1 of Hardcastle and McCormick will ALWAYS be THE Best Season of the entire series When H&M Debut, it became an instant hit with fans as the series cracked the Nielsen Ratings Top 30 and plus, it got more ratings than Happy Days plus the 1st Season of H&M also marked the Final Season for Happy Days, Three's Company and Hart to Hart Dallas was back @ #1 and H&M's Sister Show The A-Team was in the Top 5 and Wheel of Fortune became THE #1 Game Show on Syndication (even though it was still goin' strong on NBC Daytime)
I'm from germany and I also loved this show as I was a kid and I still do today. Now I have all episodes on DVD and on my computer and I still enjoy to watch some episodes from time to time. It's very sad they made only three seasons of that great show. BTW: Another great show was "Stingray" with Nick Mancuso. IMHO this was one of the best shows back in those days.
Yeah, Riptide, Street Hawk, A-Team, Stingray, MacGyver, Spencer, Fall Guys, Hart to Hart, Knight Rider..........all those shows were great. There is nothing comparable nowadays.
they don't have the budget to do anything like that this days, lots of stuntman, lots of vehicles , location shooting , hot guest stars , very expensive...
I still remember this Coyote car from when I was a kid and how it was doing a cool jump in the intro. As an adult car enthusiast it occurred to me, how could they possibly build a car that low and sleek which could withstand such a jump and keep on driving. And sure enough, re-watching this intro I noticed that the rear wheel/axle of the car gets smashed and knocked out of place just after the impact, watch closely at 0:26. Then they immediately cut to a different, functional car.
@newscaster13 David Morgan sang the "Drive" theme for most of the shows' run. There was a second Hardcastle & McCormick theme that was sung by Joey Scarbury through the early half of Season 2 called Back To Back, but people wanted the "Drive" theme back.
I loved it when keith said to the judge: your about the biggest donkey that he has ever seen sitting on the bench. lol I thought that was totally funny as can be. lol
mistofoles He had terminal cancer and emphysema, was broke, depressed and his daughter had killed herself a few months earlier. I don't think we can attribute the suicide to only his daughter killing herself, regardless of how romantic it is.
Awesome show. I used to watch it when I was a kid back in the 80s. Nothing like the old days when they succinctly explained the premise in the opening segment. If only Game of Thrones did that? Well, at least imagine how awesome it'd be if Tyrion and Jorah Mormont drove around Westeros with a bitchin' Cody Coyote and solved crimes?
Ok, admittedly, I was too young to understand this show or the other millions of detective shows in the 80s, but upon rewatching that intro again, it sounded to me like these two were vigilantes working outside the law! haha! Dexter did the same thing, only difference is he killed them in the end.
"Milton C. Hardcastle is a retired judge for the Los Angeles Superior Court. Mark McCormick, an ex-race-car driver-turned-thief was Hardcastle's last case. McCormick had been placed into the judge's custody, and together, they're going after 200 cases that walked out of Hardcastle's courtroom on technicalities."
200 cases? That would have been great! I loved this show when I was young. But it lasted only 66 episodes during three seasons. At 22 episodes a season it would have taken 9 seasons to do all 200 cases. But it did not happen.
Makes perfect sense: a retired judge adopts a race-car driving ex-con to fight crime. Sure. Now let's snort more 1980s coke and come up with more ideas.
" Milton C. Hardcastle is a retired judge for the Los Angeles superior court Mark McCormick an EX-RACE-CAR-DRIVER turned thief was Hardcastle's last case McCormick had been placed in the judge's custody together they're going after 200 cases that walk out of Hardcastle's courtroom on technicalities "
If you do could upload for everyone the closing theme from the episode with the leprachuan's !!! And if you do make sure you show the closing scene of the rainbow over the "Gulls Way estate" with the final dialog ???
wow i feel all young again, ...what happened to all these sort of shows on sat/sun Incredibale hulk, street hawk, air wolf,.. any body remember Auto Man? Manimal is laughable now our days but back then that was wicked, espiecally to a 10 year old:)
yup! and did you notice it was mostly a men show only...dukes of hazzard had women but was mainly male actors. liked magnum ..all the friends together...didnt need females in the show to make it hot and interesting. the chemistry between the actors mde it worthwile watching
If I could go back to those times, I would gladly.

here ,.. here,.. 80s rock!!
I loved this show, They were great together.
Best opening narration ever. Set the tone for the series.
One of the greatest television theme songs of all time, hands down! Oh, how theme songs today for TV seems to be a dying art form.
theearthmovesagain So well said!..Amazing for just a intro song, but lots werer for shows in the 80's
Grew up watching this show. Loved it! It was funny that he was a race car driver who couldn't outrace anyone. Brian Keith proved you could be in decent shape as an old man. Rip Brian.
I love this show.. it’s like THE LONE RANGER & TONTO of the 1980s in a firing steed on wheels.
Great theme.
Great show.
Coyote X was a great looking car.
Stephen J. Cannell was a genius. The shows he did, this show, Greatest American Hero, Hunter, A-Team constituted most of what i watched in the 80's.
Great premise, great theme song, fun actors, what more do you want? OH yeah, a fast car!
Man the 80's were awesome.
Mike Post-So many great theme songs!!!
i loved this show, it was awesome
I use to watch this show when I was a little boy. Coolest show ever
I blame this opening for my first 5 speeding tickets
😆
Loved this show back in the 80s...oh if only I could go back! Not just for the awesome tv either...
I miss those good old days of the 1980s. I’m 34 now, and I still miss those classic shows:
KNIGHT RIDER,
THE A-TEAM,
HARDCASTLE & MCCORMICK,
T.J. HOOKER,
SPENSER: FOR HIRE,
STREET HAWK,
AIRWOLF,
and HUNTER.
What can I say, so many years later, now building race car frames, the show was an inspiration. Still love the song.
Wow! I'm 12 again!! Lol! Loved this show!
+Steve Sullivan Wow, when I was twelve, I had an erection for 6 hours a day. Everyone has their own defining memories, I suppose.
sickphil71 How could you not have an erection, when shows like this were on! Good times!
No shit! awesome! lol
I loved this show when it was on the air, especially the theme song! =D
This takes me right back to my childhood
Loved this show. Brian Keith was great. funny to watch old interviews of him talking about this show , and climbing into the coyote..LoL
1:05 only Brian Keith could pull off the bathrobe-and-boxers-with-a-shotgun bit like a man. Rest in peace.
Brian Keith was perfect for this part. It's the best role he ever played.
Holy crap loved this show i was like 7. Maybe there could be some awesome shows like this again if people would stop watching dancing in primetime.
I miss that show , and miss the actor Brian Keith man I loved to watch him in anything he played he was an all time awesome actor
THis song used to run in my head when I was tearing down the road on my Kawasaki Vulcan Meanstreak lol
Why i cant this song out of my head? I cant get this song out of my head!
Man, I miss my youth sometimes . . .
This show proves Brian Keith's great range as an Actor.
He merged from a Compassionate caring family man in Family Affair, to a gruff grouchy Judge in this show.
This one played locally late saturday mornings, after the 'cartoonfest' was over; never missed it.
my childhood was awesome \ o /

i remember forgetting about homework coz of it, twas a great show.
I remember this show!!
I just saw an ad on GetTV that they're running these again! Such a huge flashback...haha
IMHO this was one of the best shows back in those days.
other good 80s but somewhat overlooked 80s shows
- RIPTIDE
- STREET HAWK
Yeah, Riptide, Street Hawk, A-Team, Stingray, MacGyver, Spencer, Fall Guys, Hart to Hart, Knight Rider..........all those shows were great. There is nothing comparable nowadays.
they don't have the budget to do anything like that this days, lots of stuntman, lots of vehicles , location shooting , hot guest stars , very expensive...

This show is so 80s!
those classy tv show , plus great wrestling tv programs and wwf icecream bare..thanks to god i was kid during the 80's
@newscaster13 David Morgan sang the "Drive" theme for most of the shows' run. There was a second Hardcastle & McCormick theme that was sung by Joey Scarbury through the early half of Season 2 called Back To Back, but people wanted the "Drive" theme back.
1:05 Damn that scene has a whole new meaning now!
Awesome car! :)
Great show! Great theme song! Drive!😁🤟👍🛠️
Great theme song, great show, cool car for first season, wished they hadn’t changed the look of the car after the first season.
I loved it when keith said to the judge: your about the biggest donkey that he has ever seen sitting on the bench. lol I thought that was totally funny as can be. lol
Brian Keith was also in the movie SHARKEY'S MACHINE. Sadly, he took his own life, unable to come to terms with the suicide of his daughter
mistofoles He had terminal cancer and emphysema, was broke, depressed and his daughter had killed herself a few months earlier. I don't think we can attribute the suicide to only his daughter killing herself, regardless of how romantic it is.
+Kristoff Rand Unfortunately in the 60s everybody smoked cigarets.
+Grant Wilson Actually, she was his step-mother who had been divorced from his dad for four years when she died. So, really, no relation at all.
Sunday nights ITV, this series was great & highly underrated in the UK, I thought is great
They need to bring this show back
Brian Keith had some big arms!
Ok, admittedly, I was too young to understand this show or the other millions of detective shows in the 80s, but upon rewatching that intro again, it sounded to me like these two were vigilantes working outside the law! haha! Dexter did the same thing, only difference is he killed them in the end.
Wow I forgot about this show!
Loved this show because of Keith and the coyote (car)
+Chris Goodwin I remember having hot wheels versions of the coyote and the general lee growing up
80's montage alert.......awesome
Omg I forgot about this show! .
"Milton C. Hardcastle is a retired judge for the Los Angeles Superior Court. Mark McCormick, an ex-race-car driver-turned-thief was Hardcastle's last case. I believe someone's health went bad and did pass away!
Great theme music
Makes perfect sense: a retired judge adopts a race-car driving ex-con to fight crime. Sure. Now let's snort more 1980s coke and come up with more ideas.
Damm I forgot about this!!
Always liked that car
And if you can find them then maybe you can hire the A team
this is so 80's
awesome serial of my young years, where si it :( love USA
SO much exposition for the titles, I'm exhausted!
good show.
I wish there's going to be a movie
The car was the only reason I watched. When they blew it up, that was the end of the show for me.
the car was so cool, someday i'd love to own one. but the only way that would happen if i hit the lottery. lol
R.I.P. Stephen J. Cannell
0:40 Shit, the old guy is in pretty good shape for being 61 years old.
hawaiidispenser Stallones nearly 70. old age doesn't mean what it used to.
dogstar75 Very true. 40 nowadays is nothing. Some of the top actors and actresses are in their 40 and 50s and look super fit.
aye, it's all about taking care of yourself
hawaiidispenser Brian Keith was a stud, and a great actor!
Yeah, but the ciggies sadly caught up with him a few years later. Don't smoke kids.
I love my mom too.
Same here man
This show (in its 1st season) kicked Knight Rider's ass (in its 2nd season) in the ratings.
The only thing I ever remembered about this show was the car
i love my dad
With all the parodies running around, I know someone can make a parody intro of this, it cant be that hard can it?
Brian Keith R.I.P.
Old Hardcastle clearly worked out much more than McCormick.
"bad guys going left and right, better shoot right above my friend's head. hey buddy, don't stand up yet!"
THAT COYOTE IS A BAD ASS CAR
Hope that Kathy Garver and Johnny Whitaker, Brian Keith's co-stars from "Family Affair" ever watched "Hardcastle & McCormick"...?
damn forgot about this show
Now that's a title font
Actually, it first aired on ABC on Sunday nights I believe (maybe it was Tues?)
Driiiiiivvvve!
I love Hollywood Guns...They never run out of ammo! 0:40
If you do could upload for everyone the closing theme from the episode with the leprachuan's !!! And if you do make sure you show the closing scene of the rainbow over the "Gulls Way estate" with the final dialog ???
great show ,rip judge where the hell is the manta now

Incredibale hulk, street hawk, air wolf,.. any body remember Auto Man?
Manimal is laughable now our days but back then that was wicked, espiecally to a 10 year old:)
westholmes2001 I believe this theme was performed by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter.
yup! and did you notice it was mostly a men show only...dukes of hazzard had women but was mainly male actors. liked magnum ..all the friends together...didnt need females in the show to make it hot and interesting. the chemistry between the actors mde it worthwile watching
