I splurge on shoes as I'm a hard to find size/fit and due to health reasons I need very comfortable and supportive styles. Been living in Docs and AF1's lately. I look for basic necessity things like underwear, socks, bras on discount. Also things I can't find in thrifts. Old Navy is a go-to for this, and I just got my favorite $48 bras on a BF sale at Kohl's for $12! I slammed that add to cart button 4 times. 😂 I thrift everything else. I've found jackets, jeans, cargos, trousers, sweater vests, button ups, sweaters, pajamas, and more just in the past few months. (I needed a lot due to a recent weight change.)
Been a thrifter for 40 years, best buys statement jackets and coats, often found out of season at the back of the store. My best find was a rich chocolate brown Italian wool cashmere coat which cost $110 (originally well over $900 retail). It looked like it was tailored for me, perfect shape and proportions and I felt a million dollars wearing it, which I did for 8 years before donating it to a charity thrift store, where it sold it for $38. I also love socks, which I buy from (Australian brand?) Cotton On, along with their excellent quality tanks and tees.

I bought a statement necklace at Tiffany's - way more expensive than I would normally spend on jewelry, but I love it and have worn it about four hundred times! I will hand it down to a daughter or granddaughter some day. I buy cheap white tee shirts as I find they never last more than a season or two anyway without staining or yellowing. Most of my tops and sweaters are thrifted, as are my coats and blazers - and I'm fussy about the quality.

Also look in the pajama sections at the thrift! Vintage lingerie can make great slip dresses. I feel like the pajama section is slept on so it’s easier to find goodies!

I buy expensive shoes and jackets as I usaully can't find them thrifting, but sometimes! Thrift alot. And buy a few new moderate priced jeans and exercise clothes when I can't thrift also. And sometimes black tees, they can be hard to find non faded at the thrift store haha

A couple things I love are vtg Gap jeans, and Levi 501's. Good ol' 100% cotton jeans with usable pockets.
