You should make one more video about this John Deere X155R I wonder how hard it is to mow grass with it.

Thanks for producing such an honest review.
I know a few people who've replaced their JD ride-ons with Castelgarden as the Castelgarden bag collection is less likely to block apparently. Better able to deal with wet grass in other words.

Can you show me more about how you modified the grass catcher hook? I have an x166r and the collector box often slides open.

I have an X155R and the PTO button has stopped engaging the cutter deck, any Ideas would be appreciated. I have checked the seat switch etc but have run out of ideas.

Could be the pto button itself. There’s another 2 safety cut off switches aswell the bonnet not being shut properly and where the collection box fits on the back there’s a metal plate that has to be pushed down. Other than that I’m not sure.

Do yourself a favour mate, Buy yourself an Etesia Hydro 100 and you'l never look back! Used machines start from £1,500 (older) - £3,000 (2004) - £4,500 (2010 machine). I had a John Deere X300R, Exactly the same as your one, but a 3 series model, It kept clogging up all the time! The turbo suction fan was noisy! I could'nt wait to get rid of it. An Etesia Hydro 100 is a Commercial Mower that has a 40'' cutting deck with a 1.5ft wide rear blowerless discharge chute, the grass goes straight into a 500L collection box which is emptied via a hydraulic lever, takes 4 seconds to empty! I had an old one from the early 2000's, and they have kept the same design ever since!

Thanks, haven't heard of them I'll have a look into them. I'm a bit restricted by what's available locally, don't want to travel far incase of any issues with equipment

This is like the one I had - ruclips.net/video/OiGb9M1OJaQ/видео.html, It had a 16 HP V - Twin Briggs & Stratton engine, Very Reliable & straight forward to maintain, the rear box can be removed too, takes 30 seconds, you can buy rear deflectors for them, but I never bothered.. I just bypassed the safety switch on the back, so when I was mowing dead bracken & tall weeds, It just flung it right out of the back. The only down side to the older ones; like the one in the video, their fuel tank is tiny! Only holds 8 or 9 litres of petrol. They make diesel versions, that have low and high tip boxes. My local John Deere dealer is an Agent for Etesia. They're manufactured in France. You can get a good H100D for around £3,500 - £4,250. They hold their money very well, even the older petrol models. They are also Brilliant with collecting leaves - ruclips.net/video/5cCTF7S7_Tk/видео.html You can mow in the pouring rain, as they won't clog up. Brilliant ride on mower! :) Here's Etesia's Hydro 100 vid - ruclips.net/video/Osbiq5G-ol4/видео.html Hope that helps :) Regards, James.

Don't buy this John Deere x147r Ride on mower. Unless you want to mow a level short lawn that doesn't get too long. Maybe a bowling green would be suitable.
The grass shute constantly clogs up if you mow heavy green grass so you have put your arm in and pull it all out.
You have no warning when it clogs and jams the blades while the motor keeps spinning the deck belt resulting in black smoke coming out that lets you know there's serious problem.
If you're lucky the belt will jump off the pulleys.
Putting the catcher back on is a frustrating procedure the makes you think it from a different model. The lock catch on the catcher releases very often dropping grass out the back. The whole catcher set up is flimsy and cheap. Not too mention frustrating.
Not good around trees as the catcher handle sticks up way too high and hooks onto branches.
1 hr of use after buying this brand new mower it developed an unnerving clunking sound in the deck.
I've always owned John Deere and have been a happy customer, but this model is poorly engineered and designed.
