This is the best school anthem ever written! I left True Light 62 years ago when I was in Year two, and away from Hong Kong for over 50 years now. Yet I remember this school song and many more in the blue school song book which I had sentimentally kept. The school had had a profound influence on my personal development, and had given me a life-long love and appreciation of music. Thankyou, True Light, for the happy memories and a fantastic foundation for my education.
I enjoy reading the Chinese version of the lyrics on Utube, but listening to the Cantonese singing of the song is to me, unpleasant. Here's my two bits' worth: The lyrics have multiple aspirations for the students (some of the lyrics can even be prophetic) , and are written in a nice literary format. The waving of the Crusaders' standard, and upholding of Chinese Cultural values are timeless, and normally would not be construed as offensive to other religious practices. The references to the rising and militarizing of the female gender to protect and guard the Country and Culture are timely and to a large extent have materialized. Many women and mothers perished along with the men in Nanjing, and now Women marched with the Men in PLA parades in Beijing. This normally would not be construed as politically aggressive, biased for any political parties, nor vengeful towards previous adversaries in war. Some clever rewrite of the lyrics will be needed to remove the dated numeric references to people and time period. The Cantonese singing of the song sounds odd to me, as the tone of the words often do not jive with the musical notes. Singing in Mandarin could improve on this oddity but I can't judge that. This opens up the issues of tonal variations of Cantonese- the variations are supposed to be closer to much older Chinese and are many more than those in Mandarin. But is this better? There is a reason for Mandarin to lose some of the tonal variations over the many years of language evolution: because it is easier to use the language with fewer tones. Listening to how young HKers speak and sing with the slurring and the 'lazy sounds' can break a speech therapist's heart. One should only retain (and brag about) the many tonal variations if one can use them properly. Should one, then?

從幼稚園到小學畢業，真光真的教會了我好多東西，小的時候覺得很漫長，就是自從六年級疫情開始，才發現上學是多麼的享受，可惜一切太晚了，上了半年的網課，最後那一個月回到學校真的都是留念。畢業那天在學校真的哭了，九年，這麼快就過去了，對於中學生活又是期待又是不情願。還記得最後一天上學，教育局突然宣布提早放暑假，我跟很多老師同學還沒有照相，還沒有最後一次去學校的不同地方，突然一瞬間，我就不再屬於真光的了，心情真的一下子崩潰了。如果可以，我真的很想再回去上一遍學，把之前遺憾的事都做一遍。雖然中學不錯，也挺好，但是不管怎樣都沒有跟真光這麼感情深厚，我希望疫情早點過去，我想回去參加校慶日了。
流光過隙，離開母校不覺己有四十多年，這曾經熟悉而溫暖的校歌難免帶點陌生，不期然重聽了好幾次，聽著聽著，昔日的校園生活點滴，一幕幕的重現眼前，再一次的投入母校的懷抱，勾起那青䓤的歲月，沈醉在那美麗回憶中……….感謝各位老師的教誨！我愛我的母校，感恩！
I am a True Light Primary School, Guangzhou, alumnus, class of 1949. This song brings fond memories. I feel fortunate in being a student there.
当年我才小学一年级是一善班的。由于当年我成绩很差，所以经常被人欺负，而我当年转学的时候却很开心，如今我后悔了，我想争取机会回来。让我记忆最深的是在我不开心的时候，曾经有一位老师和我一起聊天还送了我一张海绵宝宝贴纸还让我认识了害羞草。
在真光的我學了很多有趣的東西，就是自從我升到去一年級開始，疫情開始。才發現在學校的我丶同學丶老師….…常常陪伴我，和關心我。我很感謝你們一直的教導我。

当初我之所以会被父母要求转学是因为成绩太差，所以让我知道，学习是多么的重要。更是明白而且理解了一寸光阴一寸金。寸金难买寸光阴。真正的意思。
我不是真光女書院的學生，但是我之前去過真光女書院開日，的確很好，老師都很好，而且校園很美，校舍設備齊全，同學很好，可惜我之前的母校已經停辦了

只是「四萬兆民」，改成「十萬兆民」，以及「廿紀風潮」，改成「世紀風潮」，原因是當年真光鑑於將踏入廿一世紀，但曲調限制，很難再加一字。此外，當時的中國(歌詞改寫時)，人口已經遠遠超過四萬兆了!
(我是在何中中校長退休那年，入讀真光幼稚園，直至小學畢業，但我媽則是何中中校長年代，由小學到中學的學生。)
