Fallout 2 had a car and tactics had several vehicles, the Midwest brotherhood had humvees and dune buggies and shit. Could totally work in the game lore wise and gameplay wise, Bethesda dropped the ball on this one along with alot of other shit

Olli Rawl I expected a motorcycle given the constant presence of one in the advertising. I feel like cars may be a bit much but a motorcycle is definitely something I can imagine in a post apocalypse world.
Olli Rawl well the roads are so bad in the apocalypse those cars would fall apart especially once you consider that their parts are over a 100 years old. One other thing is that a lot of things would attack you in the wasteland so flying is the safest option. Ps. The bos air ship is crippled by the time it gets to the Boston airport so it was only good for a one way trip. That’s why you get a quest to get coolant for the engines
It's hilarious because they could so easily make money if they'd just release another Fallout and/or Elder Scrolls in the next year. If they announced both I guarantee they'd make nearly a billion dollars between both.
I can see a lot of potential for this. It looks like it mimics the power armor. Considering power armor has footstep sounds, it shouldn't be too hard to add driving sounds and maybe an idling sound too. The collisions are funky, but should be fixable some way or another, at least when the vehicle is stationary. Time will tell. The author needs to add that car from Fallout 2 now. If only the Fallout versions of the engine still had the horse templates installed, this would be easier to implement.
The collision is because if it covers the whole truck it makes it float about a foot in the air. This was a compromise so that it could actually drive on the ground. The highwayman may come around in the future, trouble getting the driver to sit down low enough to not have his head sticking threw the roof. And yes it would have been waaaay easier if it had those mechanics.
Like JL said before, this is the best how to vid we have seen for our truck. And you are the first person to point out that 1st person is for shooting and 3rd is for driving. Kudos for that. Harry 8642 , Yeah, fully agree. Driving with the mouse is much better, but would love to get that key turning refined quite a bit. Shutting off A and D key input may be a way to go, as short term way to force mouse turning, but we'll see. =)

Thank god, some one FINALLY made a customizable vehicle in fallout. All the assets needed to get it started were there. Seriously though I want to ride a hovering pony with a laser Gatling gun on it into battle.

KottabosGames , A boat is on the list. =) Along with stopping the truck from driving in water unless pontoons are attached. I know the inwater bit of the script well *enough*, just not sure how we want to handle the transition (tends to get stuck in the shore still, heh). Turning is still wonky (though being worked on), for sure, but it could still be interesting. ...not like player swimming control isn't odd in and of itself in vanilla game, so there's a little more leeway to be had with water controls, in my opinion.
Justin Harris or an addition to the automatrons DLC where you can build a larger version of that you pony and replace its parts with robot parts, or make it a junk raider unicorn, or an assaultron centaur. Possibilities are endless.
We are working on a boat at present...more of a fan boat style right now. Also I see about a robot horse, we have several rideable critters including giddy up buttercups/dogs/cats/a giant molerat. Check authors other mods on nexus.

The BOS have access to tanks, vertibirds, the Prydwen, robots, and of course all models of Power Armor. Than you have the Enclave that have built a fortress on wheels in Fallout 3. Not to mention they have 2 working boats that take you to an island. One boat that takes you to Far Harbor in Fallout 4 and another boat that takes you to Point Lookout in Fallout 3. It seems there are only working vehicles when it's convenient for the game.
I hope in a future update you can make a back area so that you can have your companions sit in back while you drive around, like a mobile home type area. And you can go in back when you're not driving and see what they're doing
I personally would prefer the pod truck. It seems more roomy to me. I'll put a bed by the window, maybe a toilet, cooking stove, refrigerator for storage (of all types), a Radio tuned to Radio Freedom, what else can I shove in there...
Make driveable tanks and flyable Vertibirds and im sold. That truck with the pod on it reminds me of the 1995 Red Alert harvester truck for some reason.
You ever had any sudden fps drops with this? I had a couple pretty bad ones in one spot after blowing up a couple cars, looting the parts, and then bashing some other ones next to them with my knife to see if they'd blow too. As soon as I started chopping them with the knife my fps dropped to like 40, then 20, then like 5 in a matter of a second or two. The longer I stayed there chopping at it, the worse it got. When I finally lagged out of there to another cell it finally let up. Not sure what that was all about.
This might actually be the beginning of a drivable tank mod and I think if we do get one it would probably use the model of the American tank (has no name) but in probably be similar to the New Vegas mod with the Vertibirds and the Sherman tank
Looking at how it turns by pivoting on the center, I think this is more like a wearable than a driveable, as far as the code is concerned. Still damned cool though!
I can just imagine a stupid raider being all confused shouting "WTF is that!?!" as they're shooting their crappy pipe pistols. It's also funny to think that raiders are probably too dumb to read the special books too.

I think they should use this as a basis to add some sort of mod-able hoverbike into the game. a small hovering vehicle could avoid all the un-animated tire and turn rate issues that currently keep me from playing mods like this.

The turning is better if use mouse/gamepad, moving wheels are a wip since we lost our modeller/animator it is going slow, collision is about as good as it will get...if we make it fit the truck it floats a foot up in the air...sometimes you have to make compromises to make stuff work in fallouts engine.

It was early release for bug testing. Sounds are now in current version and it steers better if use a mouse/gamepad instead of keyboard. Not much we could do about that sue to game mechanics.

My apologies, the intention wasn't to downgrade your feat of itself. I'd imagine this mod took quite some time, simply because the game engine doesn't like these types of mods (among other things). It's just personal preference, as much as i would like to see XRE in F4, I don't see it happening any time soon.
To be honest, there's a couple people working on something (if not exactly what most have in mind) *very* similar (and which I've kinda been half poked about by them too) to XRE physics. So yeah, I wouldn't bet against it being a thing at *some point*. ;-)

Once we get it finished we will be putting up for xbox. It is easier to test on pc and easier to maintain 1 version while updating.

Well it doesn't hover but we did make a rideable giddy up buttercup with a gatling laser in it's head.....
