    she was a practical woman,"i'd rather seethe money." love that. i would be so attached i could hardly part with them. art is expression from inside a person, brought to the outside. unless you are willing to part with some of yourself, selling a painting must be like giving away a little of yourself, bit by bit.

      She created 1,600 works. I'm sure she could part of some of that.

      She was getting up to 10 Grand for a painting by the time Murrow interviewed her in 1955. What do you think that meant to a woman who had worked on farms and bore children for a lifetime? She made and sold butter on the side, back breaking work, milking the cow early every morning then churning all afternoon for that rich, sweet nectar to form up. How much do you think that fetched her in 1905? No, $10,000? It must've seemed a miracle to her.

      Very true. The thing is, the vast majority of adults no longer have the dedication, commitment or enthusiasm that they did as school children.
