Years ago, chess was hardly ever televised but now we are spoiled - there's so much going on, thanks to the internet and people like yourself who replay and analyse these top games.
I was following along mentally as sometimes I play Agadmator in the background of whatever I’m doing as it has a similar effect to playing Mozart for babies at night, and then 8:00 came and I nearly spat out my water wondering where not one, but two phantom knights had come from on the second rank!
I watched this game live in person the auditorium. Nice to see the post-game analysis so quickly after! Will you do the game between Magnus and Levon? (This is the game that finished around 7pm GMT yesterday, 7th Dec)
Nice to get the video when there aren’t 350 likes and 50 comments. Your empire is growing at an alarming rate. Alarming to your competition. First rate, per usual.
#suggestion Iturrizaga's immortal! A miniature by the first GM from his/my country, Eduardo Iturrizaga Bonelli, against a former world champion. Please, a little bit of love for Venezuela. A game with two "rook sacrifices", bishop pair from hell combined with rook battery, early knight maneuverings, which reached a very weird position

Qg1! was the move you "had" to find??? The obvious check that allows white to save his queen and win the game, when all other non-checking moves looked bleak? Not exactly a chess puzzle that one.
one genuine question - when you say it is 'within their preparation'... do the players somewhat memorise first 10 to 15 moves? if there is any variation in that range what happens? do they also roughly know that this is a new move? can you please throw some light on this?
I play blacks system very often with white. Black should play f5 much earlier. Be6 isn`t good. The idea is, if a Knight moves to the center (d5 in this case) you just capture with your Knight on e7 and then the other Knight goes to e7-g6 and try to force f4.
wow, a really bold statement, saying that a super GM played wrong and that you know how to play it properly, i'm pretty sure he had his reasons and he have a much better understanding of the position than you, no offense man, maybe you know more chess than me, but i just think it's kinda stupid to make this kind of superficial comment, its like to say to some GM who lost with black playing scicilian "oh he should play d5 earlier"
#suggestion have you ever considered doing an "Amateur Night" theme? Where (maybe once a month or every other week) you could show a game from low rated players that you feel are good teaching moments or just interesting fighting games? Just wanted to know. I know you're busy with new saga coming up and all...
I wonder how agadmator now ranks in terms of the number of videos uploaded from his channel? I know there are a few specialty channels devoted to posting test videos and the like (over one million videos from one such channel); but in terms of "normal" channels whose content people actually watch? I'm curious to know. I think agadmator's total must now be approaching 1,000.
#suggestion I am sure you are aware but Praggu won the open at London and become the youngest 2600 rated player in history. Any chance you could cover one of his games (I believe he scored 7 1/2 out of 9). Thanks.
No, only if you played for remis - because a1 queeninig pins your lady, who is supposed to give the mate and black would win. Your only bail out of this game are stuborn checks with the rook on h6... cheers
Ha! What was that kid doing there and what the heck was he doing touching the chess pieces?? Is this like the little kids FIFA run out there in an attempt to make you forget that they're a criminal organization?
I have another idea here in 8:49 Rxh6+ then Bxh6 (forced) and now Qh5. Now mate is unavoidable. Just for example.. after Qh5 if Kh7 then Qf7+ Kh8 and now Rg8+
A really impressive performance by Ding on this tournament. Carlsen, on the other hand, is performing really poorly, lately. If he doesn't recover, Caruana, Ding or even MVL (presuming he will qualify through the Grand Prix) will take in down on the WCC
@@simonboyane1140 poor? Dude, he is #2 in the world. He played a very even match against Carlsen until rapids. Not only that, he was on the driver's seat on most of the games.
Ding plays in my style (just 1000 elo higher..) if that makes sense. Just easy and logical. No wonder he's so hard for the goat, Magnus, who also plays like that. But I want mvl to win. Let him have this victory, and ding gets to become Challenger next year. Fair.
Mvl shouldn't have castled. Nor protected his ridiculous pawn. He could have had a monster attack on the kingside. Very disappointing. But a great video. Thx!
If you are going to let random kids pick the first move, you should play that. If they don't want to do that, fair enough, but then just don't involve the kids.
Ding is always happy and he seems to make everyone else smile, just like the opening photo. It’s contagious. I suspect this is Ding fever.

MVL really shined in this tournament, I've never seen him play like this before.
What an absolute god
But King Ding is the king of gods.
MVL played great in the Wold Cup too. 3rd place out of 128 players...only losing to the eventual winner (the return of Wonder Boy) who also beat Ding.
Ding has been doing very well in the past year, could be a strong contender against Carlsen, dont see anyone else at the present time.

The end of the game - the idea behind rook captures the bishop is simply wonderful!
10:20 I think the king has that last e8 sqare but this move is met with Qf8# as the bishop covers the d7 square.
Rf8# all the same

So Ding used the English (bishop g2)to put the rook not on a-file. So he can play a4 so he has nice square (c4)for his pony. Insane!

Ding: I was very happy
Yousuf Hassan what I meant is that Ding is always happy no matter what, which is just great for him! :)
Wouldn't Qg4 have worked as well?
No, it would be followed by Qf8, defending both the Bishop and the g8 square.
How do you know what Ding said about his move?
I did look at rook takes bishop, but I hadn't considered moving the rook back to g1 at all. That's good.
Why am I here at 2am... not disappointed

And it was at the 2nd move #1 that we have an entirely new game with pawn to c4
