      Just a bit of well-intentioned feedback - I'd recommend getting into the content sooner. A two min introduction is a long time to wait for most viewers so my guess is a significant amount of people are clicking away before you even get to mistake #1.
      Again, not trying to be an asshole, just want to give some helpful/honest feedback. Especially because the rest of the content is well thought out and high quality.

    I'm actually 44 years old now and haven't played Fortnite for over 3 years. Recently, I joined a game with the kids, where we were playing no build, and I performed poorly. However, I decided to watch your video and applied your techniques during some late Fortnite no-build training, lol. Today, I asked the kids to let me have a go. Let me tell you, the outcome was amazing - I achieved my first solo victory with an impressive 15 kills, and the kids were going crazy. The match was insane, and it became the talking point around the table. I thought you should know that your video helped.

    1. Loot quick and know what you're after.
    2. Hold utility while running for quick cover/getaway.
    3. No crouching in open. Be a crazy moving thing.
    4. Swap weapons efficiently.
    5. Prepare for end game: equipment and rotation.
    6. Use third person camera, and right shoulder peek.
    7. No 50/50, get good initial damage or use cover.
    8. Keep watching TobyWanShinobi.

    My other advice on weapon swapping is swapping weapons as you change your distance. By this I mean as I approach a POI where there are buildings or cover, or more opportunities for close or indoor encounters, I'm swapping off my AR to my shotgun. So, swap your weapon based on your surroundings and the distance of engagement they are going to force on you. I've had lots of losses in the past, getting stuck with my AR indoors because I forgot to swap to close range weapons as I entered a POI or building.
    Same thing for when I'm leaving a POI, swapping back to my AR or my movement items as I'm transitioning back to the open areas of the map. This goes hand in hand with remembering to reload your weapons. Make sure you are always swapped to the right weapon based on situation and location. Emergency swapping to the right weapon on the fly will also get you Elim'd against experienced opponents.

    • @ericgonser1544
      @ericgonser1544 7 месяцев назад +3

      I also do this and have never seen anyone mention this.
      Another thing I do is go to my shotgun before getting In a vehicle. If someone blows up my car or I want to push someone I am ready to go. If I hop out to long range attack them my ar is one click away but if it's a close range fight I want my shotgun ready to go.

Not only has my confidence got way up, this evening I've played 5 ranked matches with 2 wins, 1 win had 10 kills, a 2nd, a 3rd and only 1 blooper (old habits die hard). I didn’t even realize I have been using a lot of these tactics, mainly through years of trial and error. I think my biggest takeaway from this was confidence in pushing someone below me and keeping mobility and heals, especially for OG Fortnite. I tend to do really well and will get to 10 players before realizing I don’t have necessary heals and utilities to go toe to toe with the final players, especially with scenarios that put me at a disadvantage. This video has boosted my confidence in my playstyle and made me more aware of the usefulness of the loot available.

  • @asherdean38

    Another good tip is to keep your pickaxe out when looting so you can spam pickup everything without dropping anything

    • @shanebreezy4453
      @shanebreezy4453 7 месяцев назад +8

      That doesn't really make sense mate
      How would you drop something without meaning to? When looting, you only drop what you need to drop...
      And if you're referring to right when you land from the bus, you already don't have a weapon so that's kinda a given that you'll have your pickaxe out

    Once again, I'm glad to see I've been following most of your tips already. I will say, however, that the "take a step back behind cover" answers one of the questions I had for a long time. I noticed that some of my close-quarters fights were crushing defeats, but others were dominating victories, and now I know how I can more easily replicate the latter. All that's left is to leave anxiety behind, which has been hard for me to do lately. Also, one thing that's helped me immensely is running two guns instead of three. I used to undervalue the importance of deployable cover, so now I use the extra slot on the Ice Wall, which is insanely powerful in all formats of ZB. The one thing I wouldn't recommend to other players is to ditch their shotgun like I have. I understand the risk of not running a shotgun and I'm fine with it. I'd say it's a carry-over from my Apex days, with my favourite loadout in that game being sniper/SMG (Volt/Sentinel for those curious).
    I also have a tiny request: would it be possible to add the Junk Rift and the Rift-To-Go to the training grounds? I'd like to use them after the glory that was Horde Rush. Either way, this was another banger of a video, and a good reminder of how I should be playing.

    • @shanebreezy4453
      @shanebreezy4453 7 месяцев назад +1

      No shotgun is skitz mate. That's the most important gun in fortnite.. I'd rather have a grey variant of the worst shotgun in the game than have two legendary guns of other types.
      I agree with the 2 gun loadout though, the best in my opinion is a hard hitting shotgun like the sharptooth, and a twin mag AR because it's good for long distance and close distance spray (hipfire) to follow a good opening shotgun shot. It's very versatile

    Training with visual audio has surprisingly sharpened my ability to pinpoint the source of sounds before I visually identify them. This means that within a split second of hearing a potential player nearby or behind me, I'm already prepared to take the first shot. However, if you feel overwhelmed by the direction of incoming noises, it can significantly impact your gameplay.

    Amazing tips man! Learnt so many I didnt know! One I find very helpful that would make a fine addition to your tips is developing familiarity with an average of how many bullets SMGS, pistols, shotguns and AR's normally have, so you can keep track of when your opponent is close to needing to reload. I often pick that moment to engage in combat to blast opponents when they are about to run out of ammo and they find out it's now too late to reload and/or swap weapons. Sometimes it's a matter of practicing the timing on when to jump into a fight when it's too late to even swap weapons. I have learnt most people naturally shoot their guns till the clip's empty rather than switching to a loaded weapon instead.

    I play with my nephews and nieces and the main video game crime I see younger players not knowing about is COVER. simple awareness of having cover by using the terrain to position yourself in the right spot while you loot or change your weopons around or checking the map or a quest.
    I see them standing in the open far too much and I keep telling them to always be moving around, NEVER make yourself an easy target. NEVER STOP your feet from moving around unless you have to, and THEN try to find a building to do that in so that you always have cover while you're doing a simple thing, so you don't get eliminated just reloading your guns, or healing up.
    It's very important to always be mindful of all the ways another player can take you out.
    Stay moving around, don't forget to duck or crouch down too.
    I throw people off all the time by mixing a run, jump, and duck. I have been having more luck just ducking down, and never jump when it's a 1v1 to get the #1 victory.
    Cover. You have probably heard this word but not really understand it all the way.
    Cover doesn't just mean to duck behind a rock.
    You have to remember that people can eliminate you from ALLLL directions!
    Some people are high up on mountains and hills, some people are down below by a river or cave.
    What I always do, is pretend like I'm trying to take out my own player. And think of all my weak spots of where someone could get me from, I try to always a cover, like a tree when I'm getting close to a mountain where I could get sniped.
    And when someone is down low, I never poke my head over the edge in the same place because they could headshot me the very second time I try it.
    And when you practice this, always remember to never stop moving, don't make yourself an easy target.

    Can't speak for other modes or ranks, as I play solo in the unreal category, but after playing hundreds of ranked matches into the top 10, I found it's very rare to reach the small storm circle shown in the mini-map here. It mostly always ends before the storm updates. I have also seen great positioning overcome by mechanically talented players. So the advantage isn't as huge in the competitive tier as perhaps it might be in the lower ones.
    Also, rarely is there healing available in end-game. There's no point in carrying it because there's no time, it's a waste of a DPS or utility slot, and most players don't bother to carry them by then to loot off of. You have to think of damage prevented being damage healed, and that would've been a great tip to have included in this video.

    One of the most helpful things I've heard from an advice video recently is about the subconscious overconfidence you get when you crack someone
    in your head you're thinking "oh, they're cracked! Now I just gotta finish them; it'll be easy" not taking into account the fact that you have another potentially 150 health to deplete before you actually win and it kinda makes you play a bit lazier.
    Stay focused and get the kill, never let your guard down or let up your offence

      that's entirely possible
      also thank you. Your video on right-hand peeks unlocked something in my tactics.
      I used to use them sometimes, but now I constantly look for peeks and play from cover and I've been winning 10x as many fights.@@TobyWanShinobi
