Wrong. Having information and understanding then putting into practice are completely different. Most don't want to take the time to learn and put information they have at their disposal into practice. Poker for this reason among others will always be a long term skill game

In my experience, hands like J9o flop second pair approximately EVERY TIME, I never improve, and it's never good.

BINGO - That's my question right there at 6:37 . This happens SO often in poker where you're constantly on a draw with NO made hand! How do you get "comfortable" with that? LOVE your vids - wish they had Flopzilla for Mac!

I had a quick question..
On the second quiz question it asks 54 suited chances of flopping top pair or better. Flopzilla gives us a bunch of % answers for top pair, 2 pair, flush quads etc. But.. are these %s on the flop or on the river?

I find this information especially useful when effective stack size is also taken into account. First you should understand your opponents potential range and if you are considering a high-risk/high-gain bet you should also make sure that Villain can pay you.

I always have that uneasy feeling when I raise with AK and get 3-4 callers in micro stakes that the set is out there, especially with continuation bet having A or K on the flop and small SPR. And knowing % doesn't make me feel better:) Great video as always!

Splits- you ever thought about doing an e-book dedicated to this video? This is a great video. I think it would save players a lot of time an effort with Flopzilla if you dedicated an entire book (or series) to these scenarios...
It's crossed my mind - but I think it would be pretty boring and also tough to organize. And since so many hands have extremely similar results in lots of categories, I don't think it would be great as a book.
Maybe as a downloadable though...

Hey split, I struggle with math and the math aspect of poker. How do we use this information when playing these ranges exactly? Knowing the 89 suited or whatever it was flopping a straight draw 20 percent of the time, how do we use that information? Sorry for the stupid question.
I think its also important for a simple thing in your mind. knowing how often a hand will hit will teach you not to overvalue your hand and act like youre the god on your table and lose money
Great question Steve. Essentially having stuff like this understood helps you gauge how often you will hit vs miss (very helpful as the SPR shrinks) and gives a guiding light for the players who play too wide preflop 'trying to smash two pair+". It also helps you estimate how often you for sure won't be folding on flops, allowing you to do some preflop planning =)

Tony, no matter what the 'odds' are, once the cards are shuffled, everything is just a suggestion. BUT I'd say the most important situation in playing poker is, is it for real or fake money. Fake money poker is merely a kind of game that will get you familiar to what cards look like and which cards are necessary to make you hand a hand a 'winning' hand. The Missing influence in fake money poker is the FEAR factor of guessing wrong and losing your MONEY. I find that playing poker as if it is fake money poker in that you have no fear of losing YOUR MONEY, will influence others to fold. It doesn't mean you will not lose, but it does mean that you didn't lose to a bluff. The point being, if you can't afford to lose, don't play, because YOU WILL LOSE. I see a lot of 'professional' poker players and what usually happens is that one of them will win that session, only to lose the winnings at another session. The trick is to win more sessions, than you lose and because it is GAMBOLING, another name for GUESSING, if it isn't your turn to have LUCK smile on you, better luck next time, if you can find the money to lose.
The quiz, as linked, never offers an opportunity to directly and immediately compare my given answers with the correct answers. This is especially important because there's a big difference between being off by a little as opposed to off by a lot and the offered format only tells you that you're off.
After completing the quiz you should see your answers on that final page. Why are you not able to compare those to this video or the linked answer key on that same page?
As2s and AsKs both have the same percentage chance for a nut flush, it doesnt make sense to compare.
When we're talking about the chance of J9 flopping middle pair does that mean that either J or 9 hits and there is one overcard and one undercard on the flop?
Exactly right. So J9 is middle pair on AJ6, QJ2, K94, and T96 =)

Is there any reason why in this video, according to your computer, the AKo flops a gutshot 11.3% of the time but A2s flops a gutshot 11.2% of the time?
Good question, my guess is that the odds are calculated by a large sample of randomly played hands, so that the percentages are never exactly correct.
Because A2s (unlike AKo) can flop a flush, which would invalidate any gutshot. For example, if the flop is 3s, 4s, 9s, A2s already has a flush, so Flopzilla will not categorize the hand as a "gutshot".

I’m a little confused when it’s said to hit a “gutshot, set, top pair” ect x% of the time. X% of the time of what? Percentage of how many players are playing a hand to yours or every time you have a hand in general?
X% of the time refers to "how often a starting hand hits across all possible flops"
I'd also like to know the odds for catching on the turn and river.

When you put the 99 hand in the "starting hand" the statistics is the % of hitting them on the flop or river?

5:05 why the statistics says that have TT have 0% of being Midle Pair on the flop? Like flop can be A J 9 and the TT is middle pair, right?
Flopzilla doesn't classify that as middle pair. On AJ9, KJ would be "middle pair" and TT would be "pp < 2nd card"

James (SplitSuit) It was during the pocket tens hand, unless I'm mistaken. I know Doyle Brunson doesn't care about the distinction, so if you made the mistake you're in good company. :) But I find the distinction very useful in practice.
Eww, I *did* make that mistake in the video. Agreed, it's a set when your pocket pair hits the third one and trips in all other instances. I have no idea how why I would have said that incorrectly lol.

no, i didn't buy anything. look, the 'quiz' is designed to have many people miss questions, as these percentages and the way the questions were written will cause people to make mistakes easily, it's exploitative. I don't doubt the utility of their tools, I'm taking issue with how this video tries to sell it.

No push to sell it? "take the quiz" which is designed to be failed even by people with reasonable poker knowledge, even some experts who get confused by the questions, figuring for 'top pair' vs 'top pair or better'. nevermind the questions of dubious value such as a five high top pair, or an AK gutshot that few would know (or even need to know) off hand. Of course when you inevitably do worse than you expected you're met with the "sad panda" which does explicitly push flopzilla. Not a fan of that. Like your vids, watched many, this was poor form imo. now you know why there's that dislike there. care or not, up to you.
