- I thought it would be fun to bring you all to work with me today. We picked 300lbs of mango and over a thousand pounds of avocados. Meet some of the people I work with and get a feel for a day in the life of a tropical fruit farmer.
Get your Sleepy Lizard avocados and mangos at: www.guacfarm.com
People have no clue how much work goes into farming. You have to love what you do.
so true
Wow buddy you're surrounded by so many different varieties of mangos and avocados you re doing very hard work good luck buddy 👍💪💪👍👍💪
It's a paradise Heera
Keep up the great work, I'll watch it the whole way, but figured I'd comment before I watched the whole vid
thank you for commenting and watching.
Wow, this is hard work! You picked so many of em
Mondays are a long day because I like to get the fruit on it's way to market.
Wow Tom. What an amazing operation you have going. God bless you and your family.
thank you Carlos
This is truly hard work! It amazes me just how much you love your and how much you're dedicated! In return you get so much, tasty fruit, happy costumers and entertained viewers (like me). And if this video doesn't convince most of the 4/10 of people who don't believe hard work has a payoff, idk what will. The Valencia Pride and the NDM mangoes look tasty!
6:54 If I'm being honest, almost every mango I eat is because of the seed inside.
I still can't believe how many Valencia Pride and NDM avocados (😊mangos😊) and Donnys and Cimmonds mangos (😊avocados😊) you picked!
You made my day, though I watched it for the 3rd time probably today. Keep up with these creative and spectacular videos! I also love comical videos like "4 tips to get more fruit of avocados".
the heat is the hard part
Better thsn watching Pawn Stars.
sometimes people say I look like that guy
i find it was a little tough propagating banana pups
What a job...fantastic
coming from a guy called Avoman I really appreciate your comment.
Fantastic video! It’s not easy labor, especially in Fl heat and humidity!
The funny part o ordered a box of mangoes and a box of avocados 2 days a go.. before this video!
You have a wonderful family and so glad you love what you do! Enjoy and thank you for doing great work! ❤
if you ordered 2 days before the vid then you watched us picking and packing your order 😁. thank you for the business.
@@SleepyLizard this is so fantastic and almost unreal to watch your fruit being picked! Thank you!
@@Elmnt5 will be arriving any day now
Keep working hard! You are the best RUclipsr I've watched.
thank you
Another fabulous video Tom. Thank you for highlighting Ms Liz from V&F farm. She is a lovely lady. I purchased some delicious mangoes and logans on a trip to homestead. I wish I could have brought home more mangoes but my carry on suitcase was too small and heavy. Nevertheless, I book mark her farm and will be visiting her on my next trip to Miami.
Tom, keep the videos coming - I love this one.
they are the greatest. you need a bigger suitcase 🤣
Thank you for the great ideaof two blades inthe picking basquet
Good video he does, is it?
Game changer
Love your video Sir.
They are interesting, entertaining and more importantly knowledgeable

I moved 1300 lbs several times 😱💪
Good! Continue with picking more and more avocados and mangoes! Your hard work is very good! Ajook
thank you.
This is my dream life!
thank you Wolf. Do you mind sharing what you do for a living?
I'm still just in high school, once I get a job and retire then I'll definitely settle down in a land and plant lots of fruit trees.
Nice. Channel. Being following u for a while.
Very educational
thx
awesome, a day in the life video:)
yep
Stumbled upon ur channel about a week ago , I've watched about 40 of your videos already! I love watching you and fruitful farms ❤, hello from Trinidad
Hi Aaron, thank you to you and your people for giving us the Nam Doc Mai
Thanks guys
💪
You forgot to mention that t-shirts and caps are available at........
you're right. by the end of that day I was so tired from the heat I was a little slowed down. 🥵
Sounds like hawk tuah 😂
😎
Love these videos of how your farm works!! I noticed you don't have a tractor? I thought that was almost a requirement being so universal and all.
if you heard me mention the guy I work with he's got all the heavy equipment. He handles hundreds of acres. I'm too small to justify a whole tractor.
Looks like a dream job! What is your favorite part of the day? For me, picking fruit right from the tree never gets old.
On the property that you said you lease, are you allowed to plant new fruit trees on it? Or do they already have the trees planted and you just take care of them and then sell the fruit?
I'd love to visit this area of Florida, it looks so abundant in delicious fruits! One day I'll come for a visit from Tampa! 🙂
picking is the best part of the job because it makes me feel connected to my customers.
the property I lease is planted out but the owner takes our recommendations.
❤❤❤
💪
Very informative video! Thanks for showing it!
You are welcome
I get the obsession with Fibre less mango but sometimes Fibre mangoes have unique taste too😢
You're right the Haitian mango is full of fiber, but it is absolutely delicious. I'll eat them all day.
Wooooowwww u still have simmondddsss
Yes they were late this year. just started picking them this week. How are you doing?
@@SleepyLizardim picking guava today mate
Heck yeah! Great video, love to watch (from my corporate job) 😂
😝 thanks for your comment. and yeah, by 9pm last night my feet were screaming and I was wishing I had my old job back 🤣
i was told to grow more cold hardy bananas like musa basjoo but i want the fruit
yeah I love the fruit too
@@SleepyLizard do i need to use fungicide after removing the banana pups to reduce fungus?
Fruit Farmer just got kicked off the list of things to do. Thanks, Tom.
It's a lot easier in the late fall and winter. But man by the end of this video, you could see how the July heat wore me down.
@@SleepyLizard You're a hard worker. Much respect to you and your crew!
thanks Steve!
Very informative, thanks Tom. I need to research types of fruit trees for hardiness zone 8a, we have 1.7 ac. but part of it can get soggy if it rains a lot. Glen or Bailey's Marvel for mango's?
that's the key, plant what will thrive in your environment.

How are you
I just want some information from you about how I grew mangoes from seeds. I just want to produce a new variety of mango.
this video is a great place to start: ruclips.net/video/ruOo95OTuVw/видео.htmlsi=Lppp73zOjpGBgV3u
you can ask questions in the comments there. and good luck!
It's been 2 weeks, well practically 2 weeks since you posted a video. Lemme guess, tomorrom you're gonna post a video about jackfruits and you pick 'em. Am I right or am I right
Nah, no vids in progress right now. Too much picking
Great family business. 😊 br safe prayers 🙌
thanks Frozen. long time no see. how you been?
can you ship the avocado to California?
avocado yes, mango no
My comment doesn't have anything to do with this video. I recently came across your channel searching for information about how to tell what variety avocado we have growing on the super tall tree in our yard.
The trees were grown from seed of avocados I ate. One tree has fruit the other is not mature enough to produce fruit. In your video you spoke about "wild" avocado, one that's grown from avocado someone eats or falls off a tree and seeds itself. You said the fruit would not be good to eat because of taste as well as the growth habit being a single trunk.
Both of the trees growing in our yard (from fruit I ate) have double trunks and the fruits of the tree that's currently fruiting is very good. Additionally, I have a small avocado tree growing in a pot grown from seed and it also has a split trunk. Maybe there is no hard and fast rule about grafted vs non grafted avocado trees?
I still don't know what type avocado the parent was. Just know the original supermarket fruits were delicious. The fruits on our tree are large (over 2lbs for the largest recorded one so far) some are pear shaped and others are oval. The skin is smooth easy to peel and most importantly, they are delicious with that avocado flavor. The way avocados are supposed to taste. Btw, the fruit is good to start harvesting in late August.
What I deduced from the video I've referenced is, I guess I have a NEW variety that I am free to name?🤣🤣🤣
Subscribed to your channel and have been watching your videos because they are full of fun and enthusiasm.❤
Yes, if you grew the tree from seed, you have a new variety and you are free to name it. And my video doesn't say that the fruit will definitely taste bad. It just says that it might taste bad.
@@SleepyLizard thanks, that's good to know.
@ 0:40 Good call not touching those eggs. They could have salmonella.
look at Debbie Downer over here
Did you get a new camera? 🤔
No. But I'm guessing you caught the clearer audio. There was no wind the day I filmed this. There's almost always wind. Also I tried a lower angle with the tripod
Hey do you think you could grow mangos at roundrock?
where is round rock
@@SleepyLizard texas
Florida?
yes, Homestead Florida
Hey, I have quick question. I pre-ordered some choquette scion wood from you, but I am wondering if I need to get a second variety as well for pollination. Will choquette pollinate itself or does it need another variety? Thanks!
short answer is your Choquette will self pollinate but you'll get better pollination with a second tree of a different flowering type. Choquette is type A so you'd put a type B.
Detailed answer, watch this vid: ruclips.net/video/Sgm-7wHT8K0/видео.htmlsi=6ADotA3H3Pfl9K5H
Thank you sir! @@SleepyLizard
Your son dont look happy😂
he's very poker face 😁
Hey Mr Avocado man! Do you need a male and female tree to get fruit cause I just got one growing? Also, can your grafting technique be applied to citrus trees? Cheers from Tasmania! 🤙
This vid explains everything you need to know about avocado flowers: ruclips.net/video/Sgm-7wHT8K0/видео.htmlsi=w8bzGqmQzke8Z902
I don't know much about Citrus but I'm pretty sure they graft the same way
