Charming, witty, and of course....stunningly beautiful. I wanted to be her as a young girl, and this is why. She is truly one of kind. Thank you for posting this Kendra, what a treat!

So smart and beautiful, her pronunciation is so delightful to hear, no “um” “uh” etc. just a stunning person. I am happy that at least the only thing in common with her is that we were born in the same century, And I get to watch her movies. ❤️

I adore Vivien's dress! Such a beauty and a gracious intro from Eddie Albert.

A more calm, gracious, low-key, professional event than awards than awards shows are now. I like how the people in this video shook hands rather than kissed.

@@takokvrivishvili9180 during her time actors spoke with a transatlantic accent, especially Katharine Hepburn. It’s not a regional accent, it was specifically made for the upper class and the stage. They tend to pronounce words like military like militry if that makes sense lol I think transatlantic/mid Atlantic is a mix of American and British phonology

@@jule3146 Interestingly, of the four main players in GWTW, Ms. Leigh achieved the most authentic Southern aristocratic accent.

Listening to the nominees for best play, one is amazed at how many classic plays were produced in just one year back then. Nowadays they are lucky to have even one superior play per year.

Vivien Leigh would not have sounded so hoarse back at this occasion had she not smoked heavily. I wish she had retained her lovely voice which we can hear at her reception of the first Oscar in 1940.
