I guess he forgot about laying his towels and cleaner down. I lost the best tire billy l ever had leaving the Rusty hook and getting on 10 in San Antonio one day not long before l had to get off the road. Steve, l still love watching your videos Hero but they were better when you had time to reply to comments. I know your busy, probably back in the shop by now with that new mechanic getting things done. Blessings, Ray Wilson
When I did flatbed I ran a little slower than everybody else. That way they could just go around me and be on their way. Did not want to have to hit brakes hard with coil on. I now pull food grade open barrel tankers and do the same.
I'm reading some of these comments and I can't believe I have to say this, steve was saying that the fact he's carrying a oversized load so going in the tunnel he needs pretty much both lanes and cutting it close as they did was reckless, most drivers that are real drivers was taught this, it's common courtesy as well as common sense, and people are wondering why they're pileups every winter, lack of proper training
I very rarely use 77 through WV anymore. I usually follow 19. They e gone from &1.25 to $3.50 for autos in the last so many years. Who knows what it’s up to now. For that kind of money, the road should be perfect. But, it’s always under construction! I only use 77to the Ghent exit from the South side, and get onto 19 there. Stick with the 19 until I-79. (Because I go to near Salem, OH. I go thru Pittsburgh and 376 up to Beaver Township and catch PA 51

I know those roads well. Travel every year to the southern state line of west NC going on 79, 19, 77, then shooting across 81 west until 26. Then up 64 to the top of the mountains. Scenic views but brutal for one days drive. (and the hardest part is at the end where you can literally fall off and go bye bye) West VA is half my trip. Thanks for the CB chatter, even though most of it was near impossible to understand. Schneider playing Tunnel Armageddon🤦
First car i drove after getting my dl was a '86 Cadillac DeVille just like that one at the weigh station. Used that and my dad's '78 Dodge Ramcharger for recruiter assistance duty.
You are 100% right, Steve, West Virginia IS beautiful country! Not many folks know this trivia tid bit, but when God was finished with His creation, and He looked down and said, "It is good", He was looking directly at West Virginia! In fact, if He decides to come to earth and live His property purchase will be somewhere in the West Virginia Smokies! Oh, how I do miss truckin' through there... 😢
I might get hate for this but you kind of give off this perception that what you are hauling is everyone's responsibility and they should always know what you want to do and always yield to you. Schneider had every right to pass a slower truck, you knew you needed both lanes in the tunnel. You were cresting the hill when he caught you and had every opportunity to ease up on the throttle and let him pass knowing you needed both lanes. You called it out on the radio so you definitely saw him coming. but you expected him to yield to you and kept the hammer down.
There was no need to go and pass him back again other than to just feel better about yourself. I’ve done the same thing-we all have-but that doesn’t make it right. My experience tells me that I’m better off keeping the dummies in front of me where I can see what they’re doing. If it becomes painfully obvious that you’re gonna have to pass Schneider cuz he’s going Schneider’s top speed, then do so without incident if at all possible.
@Thyroid76 he passed him again because he's actually faster than him. Schneider trucks are governed and can only go so fast when a bigger faster truck is slowing down to prepare for road conditions just slow down with them because when the condition no longer exists they will just pass you back and all it would really set you back is like 10 seconds. That's not worth risking getting in an accident those with slow trucks knows they're slow so act like a slow truck.
You’re not making a lot of sense here! You answer like a person who drives an under powered vehicle. That doesn’t make sense to let the weirdo’s in front of you. It’s very difficult to get mixed up in an accident that is behind you!! IDK if you’ve ever thought about that before, but if I’m thinking someone is possibly going to cause an accident, when I’m pulling a load with a timeline, I certainly don’t want to take chances on being behind the vehicle!!
At least it was only one tunnel.... You know how much worse that could have been if that was Pittsburgh - in rush hour. But you know that deal, too. I used to have to do that every day hauling stone - ugh. THAT I don't miss.....

Just wish my fellow Schneider drivers weren't such idiots and all had at least a basic CB setup (which all of the trucks have a basic hookup), did convince 5 on the account I worked on to get a Cobra 29 lol.
i’m not from USA can someone explain please, when the weigh station is open steve and those other trucks in front pulled into it, but the schneider truck didn’t and a couple others,is it not a requirement that ALL trucks must run through weigh station when open ,or do the officers select by rego and that’s how you know you have to stop? cheers
Before he gets to the scales there are two overhanging posts over the right lane and a scale built into the road by the first one. They are part of a system called Prepass. When Steve passes the second post, you can hear a long beep, that's the signal that he needs to go in. If he gets a different one, he can bypass the scale.
Man lot of pillow drivers in here,he accidentally dropped a spray bottle, ooohhhh someone call EPA...second that Schneider driver knew that tunnel was gonna be tight and trying to pass in a governed truck at that...
Hey Steve, check ✔️ the bushings on the left rear drive axle it was moving kind of oddly over a couple of bridge inbucments.....please excuse the spelling.
Hey Steve, you're headed to my neck of the woods. I'm close to Ft. Bragg. I'm looking at investing in a GoPro for my lawn care channel. Which version do you use?
Smooth move Exlax! We had a good view of your Windex bottle and paper towels littering the rest area. You're a big crybaby if you think Schneider did anything wrong. He was in his lane and never entered yours. As the wide load driver fitting in the lane with traffic is YOUR problem and responsibility not the other drivers around you and the value of the load doesn't make a damn bit of difference. I would have passed you too under similar circumstances. Just why did you slow to enter the tunnel? You proved you were faster than he was when you passed him.
Better check the age of those brakes. I don't think they're old enough to smoke. At least that's what I always said if someone said my brakes were smoking.
Great video Steve really enjoy all the different camera angles and your commentary and the music. Steve probably got more Windex and paper towels in the side compartment on Orwell. Looking forward to your next video stay safe Steve.

I drove that "turnpike" back in the 80s when they were first building it and we had to pay to run on a dirt road.
Why pass if you not going keep up the distance . I hate that shit.. they pass you only to slow down in front of you for no damn reason
I think Schneider wanted to hire my dog ten years ago
She was a pretty damn talented border collie
The automatics would have helped her get the job
I’m sure she would have done a better job than most of their drivers. All those mega carrier speed limiters do is make them drive like idiots
Being a Border Collie would have been a plus!🤣
Your dog probably understands more English than most of the "drivers" out there these days 🙄
They are not drivers they are the definition of a steering wheel holder.
I think you lost your paper towels and Windex bottle.......
