Glad you got it back. I'm 64 and on a damn cane the last 3 years. Love my Mini and my Air 2 and what you just went thru is my biggest fear .. I live on the outskirts of a small town and do most of my flying out in the country but if it went down it would be a bitch for me to walk a mile or more thru the fields to retrieve one of them.. Flew my Air2s drone at a beach once and mistakenly went out of the dji app screen while in the middle of a flight. when I went back, the home point changed to the middle of the ocean, Then the battery got low, and I was losing reception of the drone. I tried to fly it back to me and it kept trying to fly towards the ocean. Even when I landed it on solid road, it started to fly again and go towards the ocean. The worst part about it was the reception kept cutting off so I didnt even have control to stop it. Eventually the reception came back just in time for me to land it on a beach rock. Scariest flight for me, but surviving that with my drone made me a more better and cautious drone pilot.
EXACTLY. I have over 2200 flights and each one of them had made me a better pilot. This was stuck in rth for what that is . I shouldn't have done a lot of stuff different though.. lol.. WOW.... That was an amazing flight distance for the DJI mini 2. I call it the mighty mouse 2 lol like the old cartoon ha . I'm so glad to see there was a happy ending to all this that could of turned tragic . And it couldn't of landed in a safer place then that . That was one heck of a journey !!! What a great video, What a great luck was that and that really was an angel that helped you right there. Over where I live they help you "get the drone" , they jump the fence, and then they take your remote and run away, ahhh and don't forget the $20, they take that too... next time pay more attention to your remote. @PhillyDroneLife hey Mike I forgot to say that on my mini 2 update my gimbal was doing that but on the floor only and following a buzzing sound sometimes a high pitch sound coming from the inside of the drone, very strange and annoying. It flies well but on the ground the gimbal went crazy. Well I sent it to Dji for repair or replace, still no response from them. All the strange behavior started after the update

Wow! That was scary! At least you had a map leading you to it. That's really sick. On my fpv long range drone the best I can hope for are GPS coordinates. I just had a drone go down in the street a couple weeks ago and someone ran it over. It always a race against time to get your baby back safe. Good job! Keeping a level head. On tha map!

Super happy you got it back, my first Mini 2went swimming 20 feet right in front of me on vacation the 1st day. It just decided to land an I had no control . Loved that Mini 2 next day got another. I did not do the last update an dont no if I am gonna.

Congrats on the recovery! I think you can hit the throttle in RTH... it will speed up the return. In my approx 700 flights so far just one disconnect and it RTH okay... big relieve. (MA2)

Going back to watch some of your older videos. This was intense! Happened to me with my mini 3 wasn’t paying attention to the battery and lost signal. I hopped in my car and rushed to where I thought it was. Good thing landed in an open parking lot just like yours. This was when I first got the drone and I didn’t even know how to use find my drone. I just looked at the area where I thought it might be before it force landed. You should’ve seen me rushing with my kids to get in the car. I was like let’s go go gooooo 😂😂

That was stressful for me, Mikey :) Everyone will tell you to get low, don't out with the wind coming towards you, don't trust the battery indicator..etc . But when you are out there, the little devil on your shoulder keep saying "just a little farther, comeon...you can do it". Then when sh^& hits the fan, people panic. You had enough sense to make sure you knew where it was on the map. The rest was dumb luck. You might want to get Stu some flying lessons :) Keep it up Brother.

Good to see you found it but as a note you can actually throttle up past forced landing for a little bit and keep it from going down but eventually it will go down but still can get you a little further but since you were still a few thousand feet i wouldve used that throttle trick to get the drone in the safest place out of the way and easy to retrieve it

Great video..Very glad you got your bird back. You’re braver than I am. I haven’t been flying very long. I fly in a very open area with no buildings around. If I get too far out I just stop my Mini 2, turn it to where I’m at, then just bring her back. I can see very well where I’m standing so it’s easy. I don’t know how to process videos from my iPhone. If I try to send by attaching to a message or email it just doesn’t go..How do you put videos on RUclips for people to see?

David you can't send big files so that's probably why they don't go.. you first need a Gmail account.. that's Google and what RUclips uses. Once you have a Gmail account just start a channel.. there are many videos on how to upload to RUclips. But dude it's simple. Just a few taps and your done... From what I have learned from watch this video , is that you weren’t watching the battery level. Whenever you are doing a range test with the battery at a 100 as you take off you must head off, and watch the speed of the drone to see if the wind is too strong and also watch the battery level . If it is that you are flying and you are in normal mode and you are flying less than 8,9 or 10 meter that mean the wind is draining your battery so whenever the drone reach 60 percent on battery even if you don’t reach your flight range you must turn back and try another day when the wind is not as strong and will drain your battery less.
I am happy for you that you got the Mini 2 back ok. Do you think the new firmware that everybody seems to be having troubl with had anything to do with it? I have not updated to the newest firmware yet and am not going to do so till I figure out if the new update is causing the trouble lots of people seem to be having. Fly safe brother!

Due to the new firmware update everybody's Mini 2 is flying away and flying horrible, I lost my mini 2 times since the last update a few weeks ago,but found it on the map both times DJI needs to fix asap , but they might be doing this on spite so we all buy the new mini 3 that is coming soon, mini 2 has big problems since the firmware update.....100%.....

Flew my Air2s drone at a beach once and mistakenly went out of the dji app screen while in the middle of a flight. when I went back, the home point changed to the middle of the ocean, Then the battery got low, and I was losing reception of the drone. I tried to fly it back to me and it kept trying to fly towards the ocean. Even when I landed it on solid road, it started to fly again and go towards the ocean. The worst part about it was the reception kept cutting off so I didnt even have control to stop it. Eventually the reception came back just in time for me to land it on a beach rock. Scariest flight for me, but surviving that with my drone made me a more better and cautious drone pilot.

@PhillyDroneLife hey Mike I forgot to say that on my mini 2 update my gimbal was doing that but on the floor only and following a buzzing sound sometimes a high pitch sound coming from the inside of the drone, very strange and annoying. It flies well but on the ground the gimbal went crazy. Well I sent it to Dji for repair or replace, still no response from them. All the strange behavior started after the update

Wow! That was scary! At least you had a map leading you to it. That's really sick. On my fpv long range drone the best I can hope for are GPS coordinates. I just had a drone go down in the street a couple weeks ago and someone ran it over. It always a race against time to get your baby back safe. Good job! Keeping a level head. On tha map!

Congrats on the recovery! I think you can hit the throttle in RTH... it will speed up the return. In my approx 700 flights so far just one disconnect and it RTH okay... big relieve. (MA2)

Going back to watch some of your older videos. This was intense! Happened to me with my mini 3 wasn’t paying attention to the battery and lost signal. I hopped in my car and rushed to where I thought it was. Good thing landed in an open parking lot just like yours. This was when I first got the drone and I didn’t even know how to use find my drone. I just looked at the area where I thought it might be before it force landed. You should’ve seen me rushing with my kids to get in the car. I was like let’s go go gooooo 😂😂

That was stressful for me, Mikey :) Everyone will tell you to get low, don't out with the wind coming towards you, don't trust the battery indicator..etc . But when you are out there, the little devil on your shoulder keep saying "just a little farther, comeon...you can do it". Then when sh^& hits the fan, people panic. You had enough sense to make sure you knew where it was on the map. The rest was dumb luck. You might want to get Stu some flying lessons :) Keep it up Brother.

Good to see you found it but as a note you can actually throttle up past forced landing for a little bit and keep it from going down but eventually it will go down but still can get you a little further but since you were still a few thousand feet i wouldve used that throttle trick to get the drone in the safest place out of the way and easy to retrieve it

Great video..Very glad you got your bird back. You’re braver than I am. I haven’t been flying very long. I fly in a very open area with no buildings around. If I get too far out I just stop my Mini 2, turn it to where I’m at, then just bring her back. I can see very well where I’m standing so it’s easy. I don’t know how to process videos from my iPhone. If I try to send by attaching to a message or email it just doesn’t go..How do you put videos on RUclips for people to see?

David you can't send big files so that's probably why they don't go.. you first need a Gmail account.. that's Google and what RUclips uses. Once you have a Gmail account just start a channel.. there are many videos on how to upload to RUclips. But dude it's simple. Just a few taps and your done... From what I have learned from watch this video , is that you weren’t watching the battery level. Whenever you are doing a range test with the battery at a 100 as you take off you must head off, and watch the speed of the drone to see if the wind is too strong and also watch the battery level . If it is that you are flying and you are in normal mode and you are flying less than 8,9 or 10 meter that mean the wind is draining your battery so whenever the drone reach 60 percent on battery even if you don’t reach your flight range you must turn back and try another day when the wind is not as strong and will drain your battery less.

Due to the new firmware update everybody's Mini 2 is flying away and flying horrible, I lost my mini 2 times since the last update a few weeks ago,but found it on the map both times DJI needs to fix asap , but they might be doing this on spite so we all buy the new mini 3 that is coming soon, mini 2 has big problems since the firmware update.....100%.....

This played out like a box office thriller. Man's wife (Mini 2) is kidnapped (by the wind) in the city of brotherly love, and imprisoned in an undisclosed location. It's up to him to find and rescue her before time runs out (battery dies). Ride along side our hero as he navigates the narrow streets of Philly, finding hope in unsuspecting citizens, who are more than willing to lend a hand.
