For whatever its worth, my wife and I just went to the KC auto show to shop for her a new car. We narrowed it down to Mazda6 Grand touring, Honda Accord Hybrid Touring, Lexus ES300h and Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. The Lexus and Lincoln were about 10K more than the other 2. Went to dealers and drove all 4. Narrowed down to Honda and Lincoln. She liked the Honda I liked the Lincoln. I really pushed going with the American car to support our economy. She did her researched and showed me the Honda is made with Union employees in USA - Ohio and the Lincoln is made with non-union employees in Mexico. Were going with the Honda
+steve smith I hope you're still enjoying your Accord Hybrid. I've been thinking about getting one. Actually, Honda in Marysville, OH is non union. Thanks for helping to employ my fellow Buckeyes. :)
+blueste blue Honda is notorious for producing very problematic hybrids. Especially the accord hybrid. Save yourself the money and buy a Toyota Avalon Hybrid or Camry hybrid.
Good review. Melissa is getting better, and I think it's better to have her in those shorter, more scripted segments. Also, as mentioned by a couple others, the Smart Key entry only requires you to move your fingers into the space between the door handle and the door panel to unlock. Pressing the small button on the handle locks it. The LEDs you highlighted are the daytime running lights which are on all the time. I'm a big fan of Hondas and the Accord is a very competitive mid/full sized sedan.
It is not necessary to touch the button on the door handle to unlock. Just touch the driver or passenger handle and it will unlock! The button is pressed to lock the car upon exiting.
Ah Dave, you don't need to press the button on the door handle to unlock, just grab the door handle and voila. The button is to lock the doors when you have the fob in your pocket. Hilarious clips, explains why you had a hard time!
Smart key : You don't have to push button to open the car. All you have to do is wrap your hand around the handle. You can lock the car with that button.
Not feeling Everywoman Driver but I do like Melissa so I like the tag-team presentation in this video. Do you know what the string-quartet interlude you use in here and other videos is from?
BOUGHT ONE ( Honda Hybrid-) but it had a Accident that was just a fender and hood jib( and passed NSDAS specs done by a Good Body Shop) we purposely search out these kinds of cars.they sell for ($-5k) Less on ave. and this one? only had 12643 miles and it was a 1 yr Business Lease car ..sat for over a Year in the Dealers back lot , waiting to get fixed and then 6 mos unsold because of that Accident on its CarFax report..scares everyone away.. Which is a good thing, if its a Minor and well repaired vehicle..
Only car I seen in years where passengers in back seat have wider view of outside world as compared to many other luxury car makers. Less trunk storage.
+Hybrids Hang HONDA is gradually phasing-out the Old IMA to the new hybrid design. Accord was the first to switch from IMA to the new two-motor setup. Next will be the Civic hybrid, then the European Fit, and finally the CRZ .
A lot of talk of comparison between the Accord hybrid and the Camry Hybrid. I drove both and bought the Accord. Yeah, in similar trim, the Accord is about 3000 dollars more. But here's what I found. The Accord just felt more substantial and less tinny. The Accord felt more like an entry level Acura...The Camry did not feel like an entry level Lexus. I liked the driving position and controls better on the Accord. I wanted the Touring trim and these were really hard to get. I found a local dealer selling a 2014 with 5500 miles on it for 7000 off sticker. I jumped on it. Basically new, and I let someone else pay the depreciation. One gripe, even though this was used and I had no choice in the matter....When I was looking at both the Camry Hybrid and Accord....what is it with the colors? WHY all the light colored interiors...AND no choice? If you want a white Accord, you get an ivory interior...same with the basque red. And further, The colors for the Hondas....on the lots you could find: white, gray, black and an occasional silver... The other available colors: red, blue and that deep metalic green are really hard to find...So basically, your choices are white black, gray or silver. Same with the Camry. Now, I'm not asking for an array of Dodge Challenger colors here, but c'mon, these colors are dime a dozen AND boring.
Kudos on the combo review. Nobody is getting the advertised MPG numbers. I was surprised by the room in the trunk when I looked at this. I agree this is overpriced; especially compared to the Camry Hybrid. The 2014 interior WAS only available in Beige. The center stack is a typical Honda Cluster.
Would this car be reliable enough to go on a 200 mile trip every 2 weeks or so? Also, in terms of durability and longevity, is this car better than the Toyota corolla?
+Multidimensional Mind WELL I have Honda's other hybrids (Insight G1 and Civic). I've driven them 2000 miles cross-country without any problem. For longevity Honda engines breakdown half as much as Toyota engines (google engine reliability) .
Too much $$ brand new. I have a 07 Toyota Camry Hybrid that I bought for $13k with 60k miles on it. It gets 41 mpg with mixed driving. Wait to buy this car until 2018 or 2019.
stay away from honda hybrids, i have a civic hybrid, had 3 battery packs replaced in it so far, they only last a few ks and they are stuffed, toyotas do around 300 000km before they pack up, which is great so long as you get it, but 30 - 40 000km is to few, i have put something called "the battery jockey" in it, seems to have helped as havent a problem since, yet, time will tell, just get a diesel.
+pauljosse OR instead of turbodiesel, try a Ford turbogasoline that gets 44mpg without battery. Honda changed its battery from NiMH to Lithium which ages slower. As for Toyota they eventually fail too (from age or heat-induced leakage). I've seen several die before they reached 100,000 miles. Prius owners are also using "battery jockey" and other grid chargers to stretch battery life .
+electrictroy2010 since in installed the battery jockey the battery was replaced at 130 000km and as of today i have done 180 000km without a problem, so will be interesting to see how long it lasts with the modification, basically, they put a high capicity but slow charging deep cycle battery in the boot, its hooked up to an invertor and so when the electric motor uses battery it takes some battery from the deep cycle and some from the ima battery as its all linked up, the motor does not no what it is taking power from, and i guess this also takes stress off the ima battery, if this battery is still going at 200 000km then its the longest lasting battery so far.
Im not a Honda fanboy but my heart always have a place for Honda, especially Accord! Thanks Dave for the video! Much needed!

Because MERICA’ 🇺🇸🍺 🤘🏼
It's been a while! Good to see you back
I love your weatherman voice
The accord has always looked more premium than the Camry.
100% agree.

gunm808 thank you... I addressed this error on this week's podcast during the Viewer Feedback segment. Dave
Finally a detailed review!!!
I'm also not the biggest fan of Melissa, but this review was better than having her solo.
It is not necessary to touch the button on the door handle to unlock. Just touch the driver or passenger handle and it will unlock! The button is pressed to lock the car upon exiting.
Nice review Dave!
Thanks for that. It was very comprehensive.
Great review,I think it would be nice if you talked about interior and center console more.
We're getting ready to 'Trade-Up' ASAP & After viewing quite a few of the other's videos, I can unabashedly say, "Your's is THE BEST..!!!!" THX.

BTW, you don't have to press the button to unlock the door with the key fob. All you have to do is touch the handle for a second and it unlocks.

Justin Leveille gotcha... I addressed many of the comments here on this week's podcast :-)
Great review as always!

"12.tree cubic of volume". A few of my friends says "tree" instead of "three". That always gets me.
Not feeling Everywoman Driver but I do like Melissa so I like the tag-team presentation in this video.

DroverChicago I featured your comment and answered your question on this week's podcast #41 - Dave
Is the hybrid and Exl the same thing?
Another great review Dave! Did you average 41 mpg with the Econ button on or off?
Antoine OBannon Good question, the eco was OFF.
Thanks. Definitely worth a look and a test drive
If yoiu think THIS car is nice... wait until you see the 2015 Hyundai Genesis! I just got it on Friday... holy cow!
Everyman Driver looking forward to it! My current lease will be up in 18 months. It's going to be a tough decision.

can u put new exhaust?

In my opinion, Honda should have use this Hybrid setup in their Civic Hybrid as well.

Steve Kieley Just curious if you knew why that guy sold his car after 1 year?
+A55tech Because Honda Accord Hybrids are shitty. Honestly, do some research on owners of 2014 Honda Accord hybrids and you'll see what i mean.
The Chosen One I did my research, you are entitled to your opinion but I don't share it.
+The Chosen One
Honestly. I did my research. And drove both. After 13K more miles I have zero complaints and am averaging 45 mpg in my Accord Hybrid.
+A55tech
I believe it was a dealer demo.

2015 honda accord or 2014 nissan maxima?
Get the max if ur a spirited driver. Gotta love that VQ35DE. Although gas averages 23 mpg. 3 year 11 max owner.
+Mega Pijon you were 8 months late lol I got the 15 accord Ex and I love it. I think I made the perfect choice. Affordable and looks nice.

nice video
This car competes with the Passat, the Jetta is considered compact.
Hard as hell to get one of these
George Geo My Honda rep told me this week on the podcast that the engines were the hold up... they can't make 'em fast enough - Dave
you mean it competes with the passat not jetta:))

Agreed. I have owned a HCH and it has been nothing but trouble.

Haha good one "Accordingly"
One hand lol, great measuring tool
chris kibler Thank you!
Plosions... OMG reduce the heat on your audio just a little pls.
Interior design is....well lacking. Just like the exterior. If that is 35K from honda...I'll shop elsewhere.. Good review though.
U stupid
I'm a Subaru fanboy so I would take the Subaru Legacy over the Honda Accord.
