What binding would you suggest pairing with this ski? I have a pair of Look Pivot 15's on my SR88's which I absolutely love the feel of for all mounting carving. Could a similar set up work with these? Thanks loving all your videos 👍
I spent several days in France on these in ideal conditions along with the AR. Both have superb edge hold, dampness and are extremely well rounded skis. I prefer the SC as its a bit stiffer and has a bit more top end. I normally ski Kastle MX/RX in these widths which I would say are a tad more exciting and even more top end but it depends a lot on what binding and plate your running. Hard to beat Stokli's refinement and precision
Agree, amazing refinement and precision. The SC is definitely a little bit "more" ski than the AR, although on the other end of the spectrum, the AR is more versatile. Both are tremendous skis.
To me, the biggest difference is stiffness, stability, and power between those two skis. The shapes are relatively similar, but the SX has a stiffer flex pattern. I really enjoy skiing both and find that the Laser SC is more rewarding at slower or more moderate speeds, while the SX is more supportive of higher speeds and more aggressive skiing.
Not really. The SC is a much higher end ski than low intermediate. The shape and style of ski works well, but the SC is pretty heavy and demanding and may hinder progression. You'll have much better selection if you bump up to the low 80's. Check out the Rossignol Experience 82 Basalt, Black Crows Vertis, or Head Shape e-V8. Have fun!
Thanks to you both for such great content. Loving all the videos. What would you say is the main difference between this Stöckli SC and the Nordica Spitfire in 72 waist width? Thanks again.
Thanks Chris! The Stockli will want to make cleaner and rounder turns across the fall line with less complaints. The Spitfire is great, but is more heavy, blocky, and demanding. If you want those things, then the Nordica is a fantastic ski, but if you're looking for top-end performance with less work, that's where the brilliance of Stockli comes in to play.
I have been skiing the Laser AR for several years news. Good for a lot of terrain and a little fresh. Would you say this initiates as easily? Is the main difference the width providing quicker edge to edge and tighter radius? How much better edge hold on ice? Thanks for another great look at a great ski!
The AR and SC actually have a lot of similarities in how they initiate, overall flex pattern, etc. The biggest difference is, yes, the quicker edge to edge feel and the shorter turn. It really feels more like a frontside ski, a true frontside ski, while the AR has more all-mountain characteristics. Slightly better edge grip on icy conditions just because it's quite a bit narrower, and a narrower ski of similar construction will have greater torsional stiffness. I could 100% see owning both the AR and SC.
Laser SC is stronger, that's pretty noticeable to me. More power and more vibration damping than the PX line. I do think PX, however, is a little more forgiving for an intermediate.
Can you explain the pro or con in comparison to an laser AR, I find it quite hard to choose between these two skis. it should be an addition to an full rocker Volkl Mantra for more off-piste use
Pro of the SC is that it has a true slalom feel to it--very precise and energetic in a short-swing turn. Con is that you don't get the same versatility out of it as you would the AR. It's almost a full cm in the waist that we're talking about here, so it does make a difference. If you're looking for a strict on-trail carving ski, I'd go SC, but if you want all-mountain versatility at the slight cost of carving power, the AR is tough to beat.
Pretty similar overall actually. Both are relatively easy-going carving skis that still have a pretty high performance ceiling. I think the Laser feels a little more precise in how is reacts to skier input, while The Curv has a little more forgiveness in its overall performance. Hope that helps!

Yes, if you can find it flat. Most of the time it comes pre-mounted with an SRT style binding.
Is there any difference between the 2020/21 and 2022 model besides the graphics?
Just graphics.

Thanks for the review. Could You tell us the main differences between Laser SC and Laser SX, and, which one do you prefer? Thanks on advance.

Thanks for the review!
How do they compare to the Thunderbird R15 Ltd?
Smoother and more damp with the Stockli, while the T-Bird really has that hard and firm edge grip.
Is it suitable for advanced beginners who are moving into low intermediate, and who want a ski to progress on from a beginner ski?
Not really. The SC is a much higher end ski than low intermediate. The shape and style of ski works well, but the SC is pretty heavy and demanding and may hinder progression. Very good description - also extremely good ski!
Thanks Timo! Love the Laser SC... so much fun to ski. Precise, responsive, and not too punishing.
How would you compare the Stöckli Laser SC to a Kästle PX71?

Could you make a comparison vs Fischer The Curv (GT or not) please?
Pretty similar overall actually. Both are relatively easy-going carving skis that still have a pretty high performance ceiling. I think the Laser feels a little more precise in how is reacts to skier input, while The Curv has a little more forgiveness in its overall performance. Hope that helps!

Spot on. Good review. Ta!
