I have a ficus that is over 20 years old. My daughter bought it for me when she was a little girl. It has always lived in a vessel without drainage. I put a layer of rocks in the bottom of a container and then add the soil. My ficus - as well as all my plants in non-draining pots - are thriving. This opens up a world of nontraditional options for potting plants. Soup tureens are some of my favorites. Sometimes I line pretty baskets with heavy plastic sheeting (usually a shower curtain liner.) Crocks are great, too. Anyway, I water the ficus once a week and it gets plenty of sunshine. So does my spider plant. Good luck with yours! Also, I love your videos - you're my favorite RUclipsr! I get so excited when I see you have a new video! Thank you for all the inspiration!

This is so good to know! Thanks for sharing. So often I’ve wanted to use a thrifted container as a plant home, but I wouldn’t because it had no drain holes and I didn’t want to drill holes in the beautiful container. 😅

The spider plant put it in your sink and just drench it. The brown tips on the end signify salt and the plant needs 5:55 to be saturated to get the salt out of the soil. The Creeping Charlie pinch New Growth off and it will get bushier. Might do that starting at the top

Ficus trees do not like to be moved around. They will lose their leaves. I have one that is about 5 or 6 years old. My sister grew it from a baby and then gave it to me when she ran out of room. It’s about 4’ tall and 3’ around. Mine gets indirect light from 3 windows that are north facing.

My spider plant did very well in non-direct sunlight. The ficus tree can be finicky. They don't like to be moved a lot, so determine where you really want to keep him and leave it there. My friend just waters hers when it's dry...not sure if hers has drainage holes or not. And I think your fern (the one you said you were going to repot towards the end of your video), I believe they like shade and no direct sunlight. I know ferns do really well in bathrooms with a window to get light from. Happy New Year.

Spider plants like to be watered often. Just do the finger test and if dry water. If you under water the tips will turn brown. That is a great way of knowing of you should up your watering. The creeping plant is Swedish Ivy. Pinch out the ends and she will get bushier. Also cuttings root up easily on this plant. The fern should do well outside in a shaded area as long as the temperature stays above freezing. If below 32 bring inside. The ficus, may lose all of her leaves as she acclimates to her new home. So don’t worry, they will grow back. If you plan to repot I would do it now. This can also trigger the leaves to drop. The straws should help as long as you do not over water. Pay attention to the leaf color, when the color begins to fade from bright green to a duller shade, this means, “I’m thirsty.” The fertilizer you purchased is a great choice. It’s not a strong fertilizer, and my plants love it. 💚

It's a spider plant you can't really kill them even if you forget to water them they are indoor plants but van be put outside as long as it isn't cold and frosty very easy plants and you may get baby plants growing off it after time ,you can take them off place in water for roots to grow and then plant.they will also grow in just water.

Hello Sarah, in Australia we call it a spider plant, it’s a very hearty easy to grow plant that is great for purifying the air also. It’s super easy to look after and will thrive both indoors and outdoors. It’s super easy to propagate too which is fun. One of my cats absolutely ravages mine also, soooooo I’ve had to resort to keeping mine in hanging pots well out of his reach. He eats it lie it’s cat grass, and yet my other cat isn’t bothered by it . Thankfully is non toxic to animals. It’s a super pretty and easy plant , low light, light, makes not much difference and water when dry. Hope this was helpful and have a google on how to propagate, you’ll love how easy it it
, just as easy as pothos. Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family 🤗🇦🇺

In California, you can grow Spider plant inside in light place, outside in shade. It will shoot out baby plants that you can root in water. Ficus would do well in a pot with drainage since the salts will build up in soil without drainage. If you keep it as is, use bottled or filtered water for it. Love your channel and your style!

It is a spider plant I have mine outside they are considered a house plant,so they can be in the house. Mine do really well outside. I live in Southern California we get hot weather and we also get sometimes freezing weather. My theory with inside plants is if they look like they are wilting it is time to water. They do not like the hot sun. I have learned not to baby my plants. Ficus trees are a hard one they are very picky about there surroundings but once they are established and they have the right light they will do ok, do not over water them and yes all plants should have a drainage hole. Happy New Year.

The long-leafed plant is a Spider plant. They don't need to be watered too often because their leaves can rot from the soil up. So, I would probably water it once every two weeks or so. They also have babies that grow as shoots from the mama plant. All your plants are a great find.

I have 3 ficus trees, one of them I’ve had for probably about 7 years now (wow didn’t realised it’d been that long 😮) they’re the easiest plant I’ve ever owned, I’ve had them in my dimly lit old bedroom, overwatered them & under watered them & they’ve been fine. I’d say they like decent light but preferably nothing to strong or too dark & i know when they need watering when if I stick my finger in the top inch of soul & it feels dry, you can’t really go too wrong with them

Airplane/Spider plant - will put out "babies" with roots(which you can plant). Boston fern(?) your porch should be perfect as they do not like direct sunlight, mist the leaves a couple times a week, the plant likes to be moist. If it were mine I would take it out of the bucket and plant in a clay pot. I've got 2 ficus, 1 variegated. They both are in pots with drainage holes, no direct sunlight especially mid-day, morning would be fine.

If you're uncomfortable about the ficus planter not having drainage holed just drill a couple. Much less stressful for the tree than reporting. Don't recall what kind of pot she's in but tape the spot before drilling to avoid cracking. Or get the proper drill bit for the type of pot. Should only cost a few $.

I love cleaning products and pretty bottles, too. Its definitely the little things, right? 😂 I think, after reading comments, I might go buy a spider plant. Every plant I like is toxic to cats. Can't have that. Oh, and thank you for caring for Jake 🖤 Poor guy.

The only thing I know about ficus trees is they don't like to be move. They sometimes can go into shock when moved and die. So when you find a place in your home where they thrive, don't move it.

also, the other plant is a spider plant. They send off shoots with baby plants on the end of the shoots. You can ct them off, stick them in some soil and voila, another plant!

Spider plant. It will produce baby ones, then you can replant more 🥰
