One his most "popular" songs. Heres the meaning behind it. The song itself was written as a taunting rebuke to the PMRC - the Parental Music Resource Centre co-founded by Tipper Gore - a committee who you can thank for the introduction of Parental Advisory stickers on albums deemed too sweary, sexy, or druggy for little Timmy’s ears. In a bit of self-fulfilling prophecy, Danzig’s debut would get slapped with a Parental Advisory label - or ‘Tipper sticker’ - two years later, despite the album containing not one single profanity. “I was saying stuff they were offended by - questioning religion and questioning government,” Glen Danzig
First you two are awesome. With PTSD and being severely wounded in combat i am alone and online is all i have you help keep my mind off of wishing i was no longer here. I do have the part where i see both of you happy and it sucks knowing ill never have that again after the wounds i suffered but thank you for keeping real and helping me out unknowingly. So i have a few reactions for you from the band Metal Church, here are the sings, Metal Church, Watch the Children Pray, The Dark and Beyond the Black. Please keep going, my hate of life is less watching both of you.
I met Glen backstage at a Sabbath concert, he was such a nice guy happy to hang out with fans rather than hang around the "hangers on". Great song and reaction too! Spot on about the Jim Morrison comparison - both have what I call "brass and leather" voices
Rumor has it Danzig and the lead singer of The Cult are the illegitimate bastard sons of Jim Morrison....gotta say there's definitely a strong resemblance in them both.
OH MY GOD !!! . I can't believe you mentioned him reminding you of Jim Morrison. I've been saying for years he sounds just like him. Although it's not all the time, but quite often. I've always loved this song.
... All Right, I didn't know if you had made another announcement about Facebook page, but it's am awesome idea.. What could we possibly say about Danzig, that dude is just a genre of his own, like all great bands and artist's. That's what makes them.. Then..!!! Love and Respect from Greece. Let's not leave out "credit" where it's due. That's "concerned mother" busybody pearl-clutchers Tipper Gore, Susan Baker, Sally Nevius, and Pam Howar's PMRC. ;)
Awesome! One of my favorite solo artists! The first 3 Danzig albums are 3 of my all time favorite albums! How the gods kill,A long way back from hell and Pain in the world are other great songs by Glen
Kelli Gafter You should listen to more Danzig. He has a lot of great songs that you would like. He’s pretty dark but romantic in a weird way but it works..lol
I can't believe I'm just seeing this now lol. Love this song. This was in Hangover 3. And he has songs in hangover 1 and 2 as well.. the 1st movie has Thirteen and the 2nd movie has black hell. Great songs from mr Danzig
Great tune. Never looked into his other stuff much. Last i listened, nothing else interested me of his but I'll check out more again. always loved this tune though.
Prob my favorite by them is "Her Black Wings" but should check out his solo "Black Aria" album, nothing like what you'd expect considering Danzig but I love it, "The Morrigu" goes right through me.
Hi both . Danzig now play together with John and Kenny from Type o negative , was on Danzig's I think last album or 2nd to last album . And also tour with them and always sings a song for Peter Steel. Ok kool ....... Later richie
Kel, as Rich mentioned, Danzig was the vocalist for the horror-punk band The Misfits from NJ. Now knowing that you like his voice and if you feel daring, then try out anything from their 1982 'Walk Among Us' LP. "All Hell Breaks Loose" is my favorite track from that release.
Haven't read all the comments so maybe somebody's made this comparison … I always thought Danzig sounded a lot like the Cult, yet what I didn't put together was how much that guy sounds like, of all people, Jim Morrison. It's uncanny and great.
I read somewhere that they offered him the part of the Character The Wolverine because he is the size and build of the comic version. But he chose not to so he could keep making music. Not sure if it’s true. But you can see him as Wolverines
Good classic alt metal with a foundation in punk. Similar would be Henry Rollins who came out of Black Flag. I wasn't heavy into it and punk then but had friends that were. Now it takes me back to those times and I have appreciation of it. Gets the head thrashing. I just like music of all kinds. Wasn't sure what Kel's reaction would be. Always thought Danzig was a bit of a guy thing and a bit on the mysogynistic side. But that would cover a lot of rock in general so good point about the Doors.
Hey guy's what's up Listen yall have to play some D.R.I. ok!. Real thrash speed metal band. The one song I want yall to play is Suit tie & guy 👍👍👍 ok Great song. THANKS GUYS
I always got this Danzig song confused with The Cult because of a similar style. Not a bad thing at all, both bands are awesome. "She Sells Sanctuary" is a modern classic.
Rich, if you remember the PMRC back in the 80s, the song was about mothers forbidding their kids to listen to certain songs or artists for being controversial. Which helped launch the stickers on albums.
I remember back in the day when I was listening to this song and my Mom came into my room to ask me to do something or other and she just stood there for a second and said "That guy sounds like an evil Elvis."
@Matthew Drake - Well, that not nice to say (especially if they're your darling). If you can't be friendly about it, then _don't utter a single word._ :D
I always thought "Tired of Being Alive" was Danzigs best solo song. The guy has a great voice, could write some great songs but by all accounts tries way too hard, successfully, to be a total asshole. Apparently he messed with one of the members of Def Leppard and got his butt handed to him, theres also a great backstage video of the singer for the LA Kings ask if Glen could start his set a little late since there were apparently some technical problems. This guy towers over Danzig and has 150lbs on him and Danzig in typical fashion refuses then ACTUALLY PUSHES the guy, who's twice his size - the guy lays Danzig out cold with 1 punch, it's pretty hilarious.
You know what is even more hilarious? The fat dude that hit him, the singer of Northside Dicks, said himself in an interview afterwards that he leaved the scene right away after flooring Danzig though he didn't want anything more to do with him though he was uncertain "if he could go the distance" with Danzig. Anyway, short time after punching Danzig, he ended up in a hospital in some kind of illness AND his house burnt down, with no insurance. Isn't that hilarious?!
Please... do devils plaything or how the gods kill by danzig somehow sometime... kel has to listen to this! Or anything from the debut.... Nice reaction as usual. Good job thumbs up Have a good night

Hey, Saludos para el compatriota :) (greetings to my compatriot) I have to say, to each their own, but I've listened to this song several times and I cannot dig Danzig's style of singing... I just can't but what you gonna do. Not everyone is a winner to my ears.
Hello and Thank you for your honesty. We love it when all of you just state your truth. The fact of the matter is that we are all not going to like everything and it’s totally OK. There’s a lot of music we just will not listen to, and it’s not that we think it’s bad, it just doesn’t resonate with us. We have come to expect this because that is the beautiful nature of human diversity and individuality, something we treasure on our channel. Thanks for being here!
@@Warrior_Resisting_Colonialism Ah, serious, then. Cool. Twist of cane is very good also by Danzing
jinnetta justice it's actually, " A Twist of Cain" not "Cane"
James Hetfield of Metallica sings backing vocals on Twist of Cain
I've been asking you to play this for months thanks for the shout out
Recently friended you and subscribed. Great work!
In addition to my last comment..I had that same guitar. Great choice!
The opening riff is borrowed from Michael Jacksons "Dirty Diana", the opening bass-line played on an electric guitar
Danzig-am i demon

Danzig's first 4 albums are amazing
Her Black Wings is what my brother and I uses to test out guitars and amps in the music store before purchasing \m/
@@LTDdmg 🤘🏻 interesting intro. Just palm muting, heavy power chords, some pinch harmonics. 1 of their best tunes.
