I think this is a really helpful video ❤ I wish someone had told me before GCSEs that art was difficult and really time consuming, my family took the mic and said it was an “easy” subject that required no work and… I had to learn the hard way 🥺
Thanks ☺️ sorry your family took the mic! It's definitely a lot of hard work. It was my favourite subject that I took at school, but I teach so many kids that take it thinking it's an 'easy' subject;
no idea why i’m watching this years after picking my gcse with a potential full mark book under my belt but the advice is real. I would highly recommend gcse art if you like art and don’t mind writing but yeah i have turned down multiple social events for things like summer projects so be warned
One thing I will say is I (slightly) regret taking GCSE art: I don't hate it but if I could choose again, I would pick a different subject. This is because of the massive amount of coursework which won't even get me a 9 because I'm not naturally talented enough. I'm hoping for a 7/8. I could take geography for example, and get a 9 for less work. I'm not saying you shouldn't take it, but if grades are important to you just think about this - art is really hard and largely dependent on your talent, given that you are willing to do the coursework.
not necessarily worth bringing them into school but having them to access at home will be great :DD my advice is get a little set of acrylics and watercolours to take in then use the good stuff on your larger pieces
