Great video Andy. Super tribute to your mom. I enjoyed hearing the story about your mom becoming a fan of Larry Bird. Fantastic cards to show. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Andy, great video about your mom, you and Larry Legend ! The story of Larry Bird always inspired me about trying working hard. I love the 1980 Bird/Erving/Johnson card : what an iconic card ! Thanks my friend for sharing and Enjoy your Collection.
Hi Fabien! Bird was one of those players that inspired everyone that if they worked hard enough they could do anything. Fun to hear he inspired you as well. Thanks for watching and the kind words, Fabien. Hope you have a relaxing weekend.
Gave a video like as always - The '86 Fleer is a great card. The Larry Bird Super Action is a cool photo. Thanks for sharing all those great cards and your mom's fond memories of watching Larry Bird.
Hi Andy! After spending Mother's Day with my wife and kids, this video was a treat to watch. How special that your mom was a big Larry Bird fan and that you have several cards of his because of that. I like how the Sycamore card pays tribute to your mom following that improbable run to the NCAA Championship game. It seems like Bird and Magic were destined to be linked together in changing the NBA from a fringe sport whose games weren't even always shown live to what it is today. They are even linked together on the 80-81 Topps. I was more a Magic guy growing up, but I appreciate Bird so much more now. Some of my favorite RUclips videos are of players and coaches talking about how much trash Larry would talk on the court. He was so confident. The 81 Topps Bird is my favorite card of his too. Happy Mother's Day to your mom and wife. I hope you all had a great day. We went to church and then lunch. It was nice to have all four of my kids together. Take care!
Hi Terry! I hope your wife had a great Mother’s Day. Sounds like there was a good chance she did since all the kids were home. And made your day extra special as well. It’s amazing how far the NBA has come. Like you said so many games or championships weren’t even televised live. Bird and Magic changed that and then passed the torch to Jordan. I enjoy those videos about Bird’s trash talk as well. The 81 Topps I just love with his warmup jacket on. A great card. Thanks for watching and all the support. Hope you have a great week!
Great to see your Mother's and families link to Larry Legend. What an amazing athlete to follow! Watching Bird vs Magic was something else! Thanks Andy!
Thanks Sammy! Appreciate the nice words. It didn’t get much better than Bird/Magic. Then the league was blessed to have Jordan follow. Hope you’re doing well and have a great weekend!
So awesome to hear about your mom and her love for Larry Bird! I was just a kid when Bird and Magic battled it out in the NCAA championship game but I remember it well, it was the first of many epic battles that continued throughout their NBA careers! So much fun and great memories! Sweet cards too! 😁 the 81 Topps is one of my favorite Bird cards as well!
Hey Jim! I’ve said it before but I always think it’s cool that Bird is probably the main athlete you and I have in common of our collections. The 81 Topps is just such a great card. That Celtic warmup he’s wearing just makes it for me. Thanks for watching and all the support! Hope you had a great weekend and Mother’s Day!
Fantastic Mother's Day video Andy! Great story of your Mom's love for Larry Bird. As a Lakers fan Bird was the one player I feared our team having to play, I still believe the Lakers and Celtics teams of the 1980s were the best teams to ever play. Really enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing.
Hey Steve! I’d agree about those Lakers and Celtics teams. And I can imagine being a Laker fan being a little worried about Bird. I’m just a little too young to have watched those showdowns. Thanks for your insight and appreciate the time to watch and comment. Hope you have a great week!
Enjoyed as always Andy! Really cool to hear your mom's passion for basketball because of Larry Bird. Great collection of Bird cards that you have. That Bird / Dr. J / Magic is AWESOME my friend! Hope you had a nice weekend!
Thanks, Mike! The Magic/Dr J/Bird in my opinion is one of the greatest basketball cards of all time. Bird’s definitely a fun one to collect. Appreciate the comment and the time to watch, Mike! Hope your wife and mom had a great day yesterday!
Hey Andy! I’m watching the Celtics game right now and it reminded me of your video and that I hadn’t left a comment yet. I watched it as I was driving to my mom’s house yesterday so it was the perfect video that came up on my feed. I love that your grandma and your mom were following Bird since his ISU days. He’s my all time favorite NBA player and I like his 81 Topps card too. It’s so good to hear that you got to enjoy the Finals with your mom when he led the Pacers that year. I was rooting for the Pacers so bad to win! It would have been so perfect if he had led Indiana to victory and beaten his rival Lakers one more time. I really enjoyed hearing your stories, Andy. Thanks for sharing them and I hope the ladies in your life felt so loved and appreciated this Mother’s Day.
Hey Hugo! Nice win last night for the Celtics. I don’t see the teams in the East stopping the Celtics. I’m happy you were able to enjoy this video on the way to your mom’s house. Thanks for sharing that with me. It’s hard to dislike Bird. The 81 Topps is just a great card. That warmup jacket just does it for me. The Lakers won 4-2 but that was a much closer series than a lot of people remember. Bird said he’d coach three years and that’s exactly what he did. Thanks for the awesome comment, Hugo. Along with all your support! Hope your family had a great Mother’s Day as well!
Great stories about your link with basketball and your mom. That Sycamore card is a great looking card. I completely forgot Bird was a coach for the Pacers. The 81 Topps is a great looking card. Love that image and the green jersey/jacket. Happy Mothers Day to your family Andy.
Hey Greg! I agree, the Celtic warmup Bird is wearing just makes the 81 Topps for me. The Sycamore one is one of my favorites and one I snatched up pretty quick when I first saw it. Thanks for watching and all the support. Hope you had a great weekend and you get home safe later this week.
Nothing like a Hick from French Lick to be a common denominator for family! Haha Loved this story and background Andy! Great looking rookie cards. I agree that the ‘81 Topps is his best and just a perfect basketball card. Hope your family had a great Mother’s Day as well! I’m sure a blowout win from the Pacers helped! Haha
There’s worse Hick’s from French Lick to have as a common denominator! The Celtics warmup jacket on the 81 Topps just does it for me. Such a cool card. My Mother’s Day was perfect with that Pacers win. Maybe a different story from my basketball hating wife, lol. Thanks, Joe!
Sorry for such a delay on this comment. I am as well too young for the prime of his career but what an inspiration he was. Thanks for watching and the support. Again, sorry for the tardiness of this response.
First of all, the story of your mom’s love for bird (and even her liking of his rivals) is so great. Your Bird showcase is epic. That Sycamore card is bad to the bone and the rookie is an all time dream card. Love the ‘81s as well. I was a massive hoops fan all through my childhood and teenage years in 80s and 90’s. After that though, due mostly to legends like bird and magic and mj calling it a day, I was pretty much done and to me it’s unwatchable now. However, I still often watch old videos of Bird and Jordan and even random games from those days. Hearing the other legends of the game talk about playing against Bird is so entertaining. Also glad to hear there was no love for the bad boys. Awesome awesome stuff man 👊🏻🏀
Hey David! Loved the phrase “bad to the bone” when describing the Sycamore card. That was awesome! The League really took a dip when Jordan retired. Cant really blame it. It’s hard to go from Bird/Magic to Jordan. Kobe was there but a little polarizing and not for the masses liked the others were. I’ve been showing my son the old RUclips clips of Bird and Jordan as well. I’m proud he knows their names but isn’t familiar with LeBron, haha. Thanks for watching and the awesome comment! Along with all the support. Hope you have a great weekend!

Thanks for the great comment, Chris! All the best to you as well. Hope you’re doing well!

Hey Steve! I feel like everyone knows Bird and Magic’s RC is the one with both on them. The 80 Topps is such a weird set and people forget there’s other first time cards of those guys in the set at a much cheaper price. The ISU is one of my favorites. Thanks for all the support and hope you had a great Mother’s Day!
Great video Andy. Super tribute to your mom. I enjoyed hearing the story about your mom becoming a fan of Larry Bird. Fantastic cards to show. Thanks for sharing.

Love the Larry Legend stuff. Great stories!!
Thank you very much!
Awesome cards and story!
Thank you, sir!
Sounds like our moms had similar passions for Larry Bird. Loved your tribute.
Thanks, Scott! Yeah, I enjoy that we both have similar stories about Bird! Hope you had a great weekend.

Great story of how your mom influenced your collection. The Celtics vs. Lakers was must watch basketball in the 80’s .
Thanks, Ken.
