There is also the stretch righting system that uses a hollow braided rope (about 20mm) with an internal shock cord. This is a very simple race class legal system that works great with raised trampolines. One end attaches the the rear pylon, wraps around the front two pylons then ties off to the other rear pylon. It stretch until the braided ropes limit then snap back when you let it go.
Joe...Could you perhaps provide a little further explanation as to how, or whether, the Hawaiian method is better than just using the line around the dolphin striker...Obviously. the rope is out of the way...That part is obvious, but are there any other benefits? Is the method of trying to right the boat the same...? Thanks...Peter
I'll address this in the Q+A as well. This system is good as it's always there so if you are capsized you cut out one part of the process. Also it means that storage of the rope isn't an issue. The one down side is that you may occasionally catch the rope in waves or chop while sailing along. could be simpler to loosen the lenght ot the shroud upwind and after "closehawl" it again? I said that because in half an hour you can reach capsized,shallow waters with waves....and id not the best

@@tripleseven8361 I think I get it now. At first I thought the shock cord just went to the ring and back to the stern beam. Now I get that it runs from front beam to back beam and remains connected all the time. Makes sense now.
yes, that shock cord went from the ring to the back beam - to the dolphin striker and then back to the back beam. You could just go to the dolphin striker but i think that the stretch wouldn't be enough.

I'm also interested in this question! As my trampoline does not have pockets, this would make it easier for me to store the rope

Yes, it is a method to make righting easier. The issue is with the potential for the mast base jumping out.

Yes, the C2 uses the Hawaiian style system where we have the rope permanently available under the boat for quick righting.

I would keep looking on eBay Craigslist and those kind of sites. Blocks come up - just search for hobie cat mainsheet, catamarans mainsheet, etc.
