"My crush!" that's been me for the last 10+ years. Witnessing someone falling for her the same way gives me life.
The line “we will save the universe from you” gives me chills every time! Amazing episode
Love the River Song hype 😂 When River's in an episode you know there's going to be banter, and it's going to be a banger of an episode. My fave ep with her is further down the line but I generally get excited whenever she shows up
Facts.
The way Alex delivers that line, "I'm sorry my love", always gets to me.
Lol, Alex Kingston really liked that outfit, except for the pants. She said it made her look fat, which is ridiculous. She looks great! Her hair is something I’d give a lot for. 😊. This is my favourite finale of the Whole New Who Era. But then, I’m a Moffat girl. Except for Series 3, I found RTD finales entertaining, but I just prefer more complex writing. RTD is an outstanding drama writer. His quieter scenes can be so lovely. For me, though, Moffat is the better Sci-fi Writer. The music really stands out in this episode. I know by now, you’ve seen Ep 13. Definitely a banger. (Yes, pun intended😂) Great reaction!
This finale was all about Moffat intentionally writing himself into an impossible situation just so he could figure out if he can get out of it and how. We'll see the results of his work next week.
I never actually considered the Tardis being a catalyst for Van Gogh. I honestly don’t think they meant that, but I see your point. On the other hand, if it didn’t happen, we wouldn’t have that image with the Tardis exploding that’s on beaucoup amounts of merchandise. Maybe that was the point, lol. Still, I’m glad we have it.
The finale to season 5 is my favourite 2 parter and the episodes are my favourite of Doctor Who.
This is one of the reasons why Moffat's era is by far my favourite. He really knows how to write finales (whether season, companion, story arc or doctor finales)!
Still my favourite cliff hanger, love that final shot and the music fading out. I’d agree with your assessment of Russell’s finales, alas they rarely delivered on their promise, Doomsday being the exception. Although some of Moffat’s later seasons didn’t score well for me, here we are in his real purple patch. Yeah, River is quite awesome, Alex’s performance is amazing, and the writing is phenomenal - every River episode is written by Moffat, which helps maintain a strong consistency in the way she is written.
Yes, River is spectacular, and a tremendous companion. BTW: Rory and the Romans were Autons, the same creatures that you saw in the first Eccleston episode. Therefore the plastic-loving Nestenes were also working with the other foes of the Doctor.
My god, man. I wonder what we'd see if you had an eyetracker during those from-behind shots of Alex Kingston, huh? 😉
LOL
And she said she hated those pants, lol
@@vanessalore9942 And Matt said he loved them lmao.
They'd be in _exactly_ the same place that Matt's eyes were, that's for sure.
And ours too of course, but that goes without saying. We're already 10000% committed to our shamelessness. ☺
@@just_a_jung_fangirl I have heard that somewhere 😉
6:16 LMAO
no further comment, that's just really fucking funny
This ep left me speechless, the twists and build up were handled wonderfully. The captured the sense of hopelessness so well
The starry night Tardis exploding picture is iconic. I have a blanket, a mug, a magnet.
I remember watching this finale on first run and thinking "well that's unfixable." There's no way to unpick it other than the way it's unpicked, and ultimately it can't be done in a way that satisfies everyone. That being said, the only RTD finale that makes the top 5 for me is season 1. In order starting with the best I'd probably go 10, 7, 5, 1 and 9. Well...half of 9. But you'll see them all eventually!
I used the "I am talking" speech to get out of a bar fight in Omaha NE in 2011.
Great w as y to get out of a fight. People who know the speech love you for using it because you are also a whovian , people who don't know it really think you're crazy so they don't want to fight you, win / win .
Way
6:16 LMAO my man Im is down horrendous.
I’m just glad he can appreciate what Moffat has written for him, y’know?
Also, since you love the costume so much (me too), you're absolutely right. Her white and brown outfit was indeed inspired by Han Solo and Leia 👏🏻 That's been confirmed
Man, I've been waiting for this one, the Pandorica is probably my favourite Matt Smith story, excellent stuff, well built up over the season, with a strong payoff. The ending of a town called Christmas might be the one that makes me cry, but this is the one I go back to when I feel like watching some Matt Smith doctor shenanigans.
6:17 you are down bad Im 😂😂
Your reactions to river are an absolute mood
Perfect timing! Anesthesia and pain meds have worn off that I no longer think time is an illusion.
Very excited to dig into everything I missed. But first, River and Rory.
I believe the Doctor mentioned in this episode that Rory and the Centurians were plastic duplicates driven by the Nestene Consciousness. Which was the antagonist from the first Eccleston episode "Rose". And was also an enemy from Classic Who
really great episode. definitely for me the best first part finale so far. the direction in this episode was possibly the best so far. best cliffhanger so far as well.
i'm glad you picked up on that the villains didnt really care that much about his speech and were just playing along.
Love your reaction: love it, love it, and love it.
And from all you said about this episode, I take the capacity of Matt Smith to deliver a speech. He and Capaldi show the range and strength of their performances because of the speeches they make, and my god they deliver. And the speeches, I have written them down. Here is where Moffat shines and excels.
I'm on board with your River Song crush! I'm a straight woman and Alex Kingston is the same age as my mum, but ooooh boy! 🤣
We're all in lesbian for her.
She is too good!
This finale really pays off if you've followed the full season, but if you're a casual viewer who just happens to catch a few episodes, you can end up more confused than anything. Personally I am a fan of story lines that pay off. Every Checkhov's gun got fired, and then reloaded for the next season.
Also I just watched Morbius a few days ago and Matt Smith was the best part of it.
First season of 11 under your belt as much as I love 10 I see my self coming back to 11 a lot more I just enjoy so much of him
Along with series 4. Series 5 is my absolute favourite series. I love this finale as well, it is fantastic
Amazing stuff and thank you. I love your channel and reactions. Excellent observations.
Watching Filmbuff being this thirsty is kinda fun
I really wish that telling other people that you find someone very attractive isn’t being “thirsty”. Such a stupid word. You can find someone gorgeous without being creepy about it.
@@chrismignemi6195 You need a few lessons in psycology my dude. You know, learn a little about people.
Love how much you like River Song 😂 So good, I love her so much. Can't wait for future reactions!
I don’t know if I have a “side” as far as show runners go. Each have the thing that they’re just really good at. Ones great at characters, the other in plots, the other in quirks.
This and the next episode... Especially the next episode... Are some of my favorite doctor eps hands down
My favorite finale 2 parter in new who. You should watch some classic who arcs. 2nd doctor and 4th doctor have some amazing arcs. 2nd doctor has what I still think is the best doctor who arc/regeneration.
Im just going to say... That painting is my phone's wallpaper...
Now listen, in contrast to popular opinions, I believe season 6 is the best season, and season 5 follows that hdfsgfhd. Lots of people are gonna say that Moffat era is very convoluted but isn't that the best part of Doctor who? Figuring out the time wimeyness? I think Moffat brings many interesting concepts to life.
Totally agree with you on the RTD vs Moffat stuff. Moffat is by far my favorite writer on the show. No hate to Davies really, he just doesn't top Moffat at all imo.
Glad to know you feel like I do about Alex. I attribute my love of women with thick busy hair to her appearance on the show.
There's SO MUCH to say about this two parter except... We can't really talk about any of it until next time lol!
And don't be embarrassed about the whole River Song outfit thing. We're all feeling it too. Matt Smith still has trouble. To this day he declares that that outfit with the jodhpur trousers was his absolute *faaaavourite.* 😍🥵💦 And she still has some bangers coming up. 😉
You get it 🔥👀😆
Thanks again for the watch list 🙌🏼
10:20 and... silence
Love the review! Gosh I can't wait to see your reaction to The Big Bang!
Not Moffat’s penultimate episode. Not even close. The next doctor is also Moffatt. Showrunner doesn’t change until Jodie.
Great review 👏 👌 👍 🙌 😀 😄
Just to clarify, do you like River Song? 😂I love your "Such a pleasant experience" comment. That's one way to put it. But River is brilliant. Another fantastic reaction and analysis. In terms of Vincent, I really enjoyed seeing his return. I never thought that the premonition of the Tardis exploding contributed to his death (which I think would feel a bit wrong). Maybe I just missed it but I think you might be overthinking that one. The soldiers and Rory were part of the Nestene Consciousness/Autons which was responsible for the mannequins coming to life way back in Rose. (They obviously had a bit of an upgrade!) Anyway, I am so glad you liked this. It is probably my favourite series and definitely the best series finale for me. Can't wait for next week! Moffat being full-on Moffat (as he has to be in order to save the day).
You should just call this reaction "Doctor Who 5x2 'Im's Heart Opens.'"
Let’s gooooooo!
The beginning of this episode was the worst part of it for me. Sometimes Moffat gets all giddy, and he can throw too much stuff at the screen. I was a bit disappointed by Vincent's reappearance as well; although I suppose the real implication is that he had somehow been manipulated to make the painting, I just felt his return, especially so soon after "Vincent and the Doctor", wasn't treating him right somehow. Perhaps the painting could've been introduced by someone in the early 20th century who had once accepted it from Vincent in lieu of payment for something? Anyway, I think the episode steadily improves as the story unfolds, and the cliffhanger (or rather: cliffhangers) is quite something.
As for penultimate episodes, of the ones up to this point "Bad Wolf" is the real stand-out for me, and I also enjoy "Army of Ghosts" and think it's a slightly better first part than this one. Which doesn't mean I think this episode is bad, and it's certainly better than the latter RTD efforts.
I can't wait to see the reaction to the final episode!
Dude, i’m a fully gay guy and i find her attractive 😂
Moffat has always been the better writer Imo, I just enjoy his style of writing much more then Russell T!
It is stated... only by me, it is part of my head canon, that Vincent Van Gogh was doing much better.
Seeing the TARDIS and his two friends blown up, is what put him back on his original path.
Again, there is no evidence of any of this, I just made it up and ran with it, I even told some people and gave me as the reference, once used it in an argument about Doctor Who... it was not a conversation, Doctor Who fans are jerks sometimes in the amount of gatekeeping they feel they can do.
Ah, Moffat. Glorious set-up and ambition, convoluted, nonsensical and frustrating payoffs.
