@@grantelliot9803 it was last Wednesday. Was only there for an hour. I have done videos about Dysart Harbour and the Links Market before but I was only passing through this time. 😀
You simply can't beat the Ainster chippy! Another great video, Roger. My Gran and Grandad had a caravan in Ainster and I spent a lot of my summer holiday's there in the late 70's / early 80's - Col
Great vlog Rog! I have been to North Berwick and yes I would take the ferry to Anstruther, just because it's a ferry, but I'm not too bothered about the fish and chips. The best fish and chips anyway are from the Mermaid in Barmouth which is fortunate as it's more my neck of the woods!
Hey sorry Roger.... nearly missed this Gem of a video..... I am definitely wanting to do this one mate... hey.... if I could describe how much I like your videos.... I would say... make a brew.... turn the lights down low.... get your cream cakes out or Mr kipling out if your on a budget.... a few Scottish short bread..... sit back and enjoy a Rog vlog. You just can't get better.
Great vlog Roger and great variety of transport options. Have never been to either North Berwick or Anstruther, but look great places. The boat trip was a hit for me, and a great way to get between the towns. I'm not a big fan of fish! Would do that boat trip but not for a fish supper, nor at that price! Good idea to break the return journey, using coach and train! Pity weather wasn't good. I was in Alnwick and Amble today, and it was really warm and sunny.
The new Leven rail link will make it a bit easier to get to Anstruther by public transport. I will be at Leven station on its opening day on June 2nd and hope to see you there. I am getting the 9.21 train from Haymarket. Train enthusiasts such as Geoff Marshall and Stuart Boyd will be there. I hope to meet you there like I did at East Linton.
Hey! I had planned to visit the new station at Leven on opening day but hadn't realised they were opening it up on a Sunday. I work on a Sunday morning and therefore won't be able to get along to the opening. 😰
@acfbrown1 Sounds like you had a good time! 😀 I look forward to a flurry of videos tomorrow! I might go myself on Wednesday but may focus more on the town of Leven - there’ll be loads of station videos by then! 😂
@@RogEdwardsTV I went to Dunfermline again today from Edinburgh Gateway. I like going to Dunfermline as it has the closest Tim Hortons cafe chain to Edinburgh. You could do a video on Dunfermline and talk about the Carnegie Museum and the Carnegie museum and Galleries as well.
Well done on your correction. Your later pronunciation for Anstruther was very good, but just to add a bit, Ainster or A’nster, as I like to spell it, is as Donald says, purely the local pronunciation. Scots from outside the East Neuk generally pronounce it as you learned to. In fact true locals are prone to change vowel sounds so A’nster can be heard as E’nster, St Andrews as St Ondrews, (O as in ‘for’….think of the A pronounced as in ‘all’, St Monans is St. Minnins and so on….it’s a lovely place to live but can be confusing.

What a cool wee loop! I didn't know you could do that! And to get a chippy on the way, just a bonus in my eyes!
I did enjoy that boat crossing. Would have been great to hop onto the cruise liner for a look round! 😂
Love the chippy Steve. Have you been to it?
@@RogEdwardsTVwhen were you in Kirkcaldy?

@RogEdwardsTV ah well, I live there and could've said hi 👋. Maybe next when you're over this side of the Forth.

Cheers Mark! I must admit I prefer sausage and chips from a fish and chip shop! 😂😂

Thanks Richard. Definitely want to do the North Berwick to Anstruther ferry on a clear sunny day! ☀️
great video! very informative 💙💙 those fish and chips looked really tasty and yes I'd make the journey just for them lol *rubs belly*
Thank you 😋! If you ever go, let me know what you think? 😀
When I eventually venture up to yon kingdom I shall make a note of using that wee ferry, I might even try out one of those chippy shops
Cool! Thanks for watching. 😀
Another solid travel vlog Roger! Very enjoyable! I got a really good chippie called Browns in my local town, they do amazing fish & chips!
Cheers Jett! Browns sounds good! 🐟🍟

Thanks Alan! I must do Alnwick at some point. I last went just after the first lockdown and it was deserted. 😀
There's a chippie in LA called 'The Wee Chippie' too, and it's owned and run by a guy who was from Royston in Glasgow.
My sister lives in LA. I’ll ask her if she knows it! 😀
You need to be on the express service to get the ScotRail HST's. Enjoyable tour Roger
Yeah - but even when I’ve booked onto one I seem to get a last minute substitution of a 170 or 158! 😇

Leaving Leven soon. Met Stuart Boyd, Jennifer, Rob, David etc (,most of whom were at East linton).

I'd love to do that boat trip, but not sure I'd make the 8am departure!
Thanks! The boat was at 9:15am - it was the train that got me there really early! 😂
I'd probably be getting the same train then! 😎
It's pronounced Anstr other. Not Anst Ruth er. Locals call it Ainster
Thanks. I’m sure you noticed that I changed my pronunciation later in the video and talked about the Scottish pronunciation too! 😀

Thanks so much for watching. I love the how language develops! But however people pronounce it, it’s such a lovely place! 😀
Saying it wrong
Thanks. I corrected myself as the video progressed and explained the Ainster pronunciation as well! 😀
Learn to say Anstruther correctly
Thank you for your advice.
