Never heard of this one before, but I think I need to try it. Iria: Zeiram the Animation was one of the mid-90s OAV _classics,_ with its unique technology aesthetic, freaky monster designs, and awesome action scenes. This looks to recapture that relatively well, particularly for the time.

Just found the theme song for this anime while looking it up cuz I remember it existing but not knowing the name, first suggested video was yours and now I learn that there was also a snes game based on the IP. What a glorious monday
Banpresto published some really solid stuff for the SFC. It's a shame most of it was licensed Japan-centric IPs, otherwise we could have had some really solid games.

Stumbled upon this game yesterday, played the first couple of levels in Japanese and I honestly really liked it. I'm gonna give the patch a go after work later today, thanks for the heads-up!
Sorry to get off topic but anyone remember that once a year on the Sci-Fi channel. They would show a bunch of OVAs for like a week or a weekend, usually 2 a night after I think 7 or 8pm. I remember seeing Iria back then. Along with several others. The only other one I remember is Green Legend Ran. But yeah, this game looks legit. Going to have to try it.
Yeah, was back during the summer. I remember seeing Robot Carnival, Lensman, Vampire Hunter D, Dominion Tank Police, and the awesome Project A-Ko. Was good times but I think they only did it for two years or so.
Yes! The Sci-Fi Channel exposed me to anime before it got popular in the west, it was very important in helping me find what I liked (without spending $20-$30 at Suncoast Video) BTW I noticed no one mentioned Demon City Shinjuku or Record Of Lodoss War.
Oh man, I absolutely love the anime, and always wanted to play the game in English. When I heard the patch FINALLY was released, first thing I did was linked my repro guy. I'm still waiting though. It's playable in Japanese, but something's definitely lost.

Interesting that you consider this to be one of the best looking games. I thought it looked rather mediocre, maybe above average. Though the monster design and cutscenes definitely look amazing. My vote for best looking anime games goes to Hamlin no Violin and Zenki Battle Raiden. And there is also Hagane which got some of the same staff as Hyper Iria. And I don't know what you think, but I'm really enjoying the music.
I watched the 6 part OVA, it's slightly above average and suffers a bit from tropes of the time and blowing the majority of their budget on their intro. Still worth a look. The game is a licensed game done right in terms of it's property so there's that.
The sprite's boob jiggle is the games, did not see anything of the sort in the OVA. Goes back to not having much money left for animated small details. Yes it's distracting. No I don't enjoy it. Honestly I blame Gunbuster for introducing that.
It is infuriating. This game was consistently hitting the £60-80 only a few years ago and now it is £300+ . I hate what has happened to the import scene as of late. Used to be the best choice for price now the tide is turning. Shame.
Can't believe you're the only one mentioning this-- The entire design of Tracer seems to be heavily influenced by this character: The haircut, the tight bodysuit, the chunky armor on her forearms, and of course that icon pose seen on the title screen.

I'd almost forgotten about the Yenchi Muyo Famicom game. It was one of the most disappointing and outright boring games I've played. Tenchi Muyo deserved better. :(

That's how I originally saw it. I wanna say back in '98. I always loved it for the Zeiram, the stylized weaponry and for the music.

I like the enemy designs in this game. It has some cool looking monsters.
Looks pretty sick. Those cut scenes look like there almost straight outta TG16-CD or something. Weapon upgrade system seems cool too.

Really just making the main character Sprite larger and slightly more detailed would make it top notch imo
