Director James Wan and Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa-along with Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Nicole Kidman-return in the sequel to the highest-grossing DC film of all time: “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.
All returning to the roles they originated, Jason Momoa plays Arthur Curry/Aquaman, now balancing his duties as both the King of Atlantis and a new father; Patrick Wilson is Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother and his nemesis, who must now step into a new role as his brother’s reluctant ally; Amber Heard is Mera, Atlantis’ Queen and mother of the heir to the throne; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Black Manta, committed more than ever to avenge his father’s death by destroying Aquaman, his family and Atlantis; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, a fierce leader and mother with the heart of a warrior. Also reprising their roles are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.
Directed by Wan, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is produced by Peter Safran, Wan and Rob Cowan. The executive producers are Galen Vaisman and Walter Hamada.
The screenplay is by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, from a story by James Wan & David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick and Jason Momoa & Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, based on characters from DC, Aquaman created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger.
Joining Wan behind-the-camera is his sterling team of “Aquaman” artisans: director of photography Don Burgess (“The Conjuring 2”), production designer Bill Brzeski (“Jumanji: The Next Level”), editor Kirk Morri (“Furious 7”), composer Rupert Gregson-Williams (“Wonder Woman”) and music supervisor is Michelle Silverman (“Malignant”). Visual effects supervisor Nick Davis (“The Clash of the Titans” films, “The Dark Knight”) and costume designer Richard Sale (“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” “Ready Player One”) also join.

The guys at WB and DC love him. He might not be aquaman anymore, but he's definitely coming back in some form or another... Hopefully as Lobo, he'd be perfect!
I don't know what is more amazing - that they made Aquaman into a billion dollar success, or that they just gave up on it right after.
This Aquaman hardly felt like Aquaman, but gave him a pass. I can't wait for a reboot and they do it better.

I speak for everyone that we will NOT be watching this movie if Amber Heard is still gonna be in this movie! At least with Madame Web, it has the potential to crossover with the MCU and maybe merge with it in Secret Wars. This is just pointless to watch since everything is gonna get rebooted anyways.

I don't know how anyone can say this won't be an entertaining watch on the big screen, especially in IMAX 3D. Momoa is great in the role (thank you, Zack, for casting him) and James Wan is a good director.

Unfortunely she's still in the movie, which is why I'm not watching in theaters, I'll patiently wait to watch it later on streaming or tv or even blu-ray. There's better uses of my time in theaters anyway, like Godzilla minus one.

With the current state of Comic book movies, if this movie makes $500m that’s a win. Enjoyed the first one and this seems to have much greater personal stakes at play. I hope it does well.
I think the movie has good chances of doing well. First of all, there won't be any major releases neither in December and January. General audiences love Jason Momoa and loved the first movie. Hardly this will make a billion, but maybe 500 to 800 millions.

They recasted Johnny's character in Fantastic Beasts after her abuse allegations, they could have done the same thing with her here or even just ADR'd a line that she died offscreen but they chose to keep her in the movie. After the trial I said to myself if she's even in a single shot I am not watching the entire movie. I don't blame other people who don't care about this and want to go support the movie, but I'm telling you personally I can't stand giving my money to a domestic abuser and the studio who sided with her over her victim.

Seems unlikely. They had to do like 3 or so reshoots and all were received negatively, all mostly due in part to ensure this don’t set up any sequels in the DCEU.

Despite being in the year of the flopbuster I think Aquaman 2 would do alright, despite the grim initial BO predictions - Jason Momoa is charismatic enough both in and outside USA, the effects looks competent enough and it's going out around Christmas without any significant competition after all. As long as you keep Amber Heard outside as much as possible DC might squeeze a bit of profit of this one.
The inclusion of Aquaman’s Last Stand had me laughing because it literally is the last stand for this version of the character before the reboot! 😆

@@davemiller6055 Still doesn't discount the other options for not getting her in the movie. As for the contract thing, how different was Johnny's contract from Amber's contract? Cause after she did her allegations he was dropped out of fantastic beasts completely, they cast another actor in his place, in the first movie it was Johnny and in the other is was Mads Mikkelsen. These big studios love abusing reshoots but when it's actually warranted like in a case like this they don't do it, it's incredible.
@@Prototype-357 You obviously are heavily emotionally invested in this for some silly reason. And you don't know all the legal ins and outs of the many various kinds of contracts. You also are forgetting that the movie was completely filmed by the time this all went to court. And anything they do about her apart from editing her time down to a minimum costs time and money. Money that will take away from the bottom line of the film, which is already in danger due to the high cost of the film and public perception. They have analysts that look at the cost of keeping her at the minimum time vs somehow getting rid of her. They are looking to make as much $ as they can, or losing as little $ as they can. THAT is what drives their decisions. They don't care what you feel about it. They are dealing with hundreds of millions of dollars. They need to minimize loss and maximize gain. That's all they are looking at. They are not going to sacrifice money to make you feel better.
They recast Johnny with Mads Michelson in a film that had barely begun filming. Different from the Aquaman 2 situation. Amber did lose all jobs after Aquaman 2 by the way. But she had a contract for the film that was nearly completed so they kept her.
So also different from Johnnys situation.
You need to get over it. She's in the film and there was no way for them to replace her without nearly doubling the cost of the film.
Amber Heard was never going to be removed from this film. That's just how it is.

She physically abused Johnny Depp during their marriage, then she falsified evidence that she was the abuse victim in their relationship and pubicly accused him, Johnny's career tanked because of her allegations. All of this came to light in the trial last year but the justice system still has not held her responsible for her physical abuse of him, so I am holding her responsible by not giving my money to anything she's in. That's just me though.
