    Janelle. The date of this video I got off my first diabetic med. My A1C was down to 6.4 and I was ecstatic! I use 16:8 fasts 3x a week. After seeing my blood sugar go up consistently for the first two weeks, I felt defeated. Now a month later I'm going downhill, having trouble sleeping and snacking in the middle of the night. How do I turn this around HELP please.

      How incredible that your A1C went down! I have many day’s where I don’t eat enough! Maybe you need to eat more food at your mealtimes, especially at dinner? I will eat bacon and eggs if I don’t have enough food in, or I don’t want to cook.. and it’s filling. Go for quality fresh cooked food, try to stay hydrated too, put a pinch of quality salt on your tongue and guzzle your water down!!! I also use Epsom salts in a bowl of water to soak my feet at night before bed. It’s pure magnesium and very good to aid sleep. I’m an insomniac and finding this is helping. Keep going because eating LCHF and IF will help you to get healthy on the inside. My inflammation is down from 25 to 17! I didn’t even know my body had inflammation! Just start afresh each new day. Best of luck. L

    Thank you for all the great information you share! Do you have any tips on how to deal with nausea? I have been fasting 16:8 for about 2 years and recently started OMAD but the nausea is overwhelming. The only time I'm not nauseous is when I'm eating. Even 10 minutes after my meal the nausea returns.

    • @TheFastingMethod
      @TheFastingMethod  4 года назад

      Hey Clarissa, it could be your body adjusting. Are you drinking enough water or having enough salt? If you continue feeling unwell, you should consult a doctor!

    • @lindagadsden3815
      @lindagadsden3815 4 года назад +3

      Hi Clarissa, I feel sick on a OMAD, and a 24hr fast! I can really sympathise with the nausea. I wonder if it’s because my BG has dropped too low.. I’m only guessing at that. When I feel so sick I decide to eat a low carb meal. I am ok doing a 16/8 or an 18/6! Maybe it will change over time?? Keep going., having a LC meal is still good for your overall health. Best wishes.

      So, I know I watched this video and I've heard many times from The Fasting Method about adding salt. And I thought it was interesting but surely wouldn't make a big difference to someone like me who eats SO much salt with their food already... but ok, let's give it a try.
      I still don't have anywhere near 2 teaspoons a day but I took a small bowl of salt to my laptop and "nibbled" on it throughout the day. By the second day already my nausea had disappeared. I still thought this was just a coincidence and was certain it would come back. I am happy to report that I have not experienced any nausea during my OMAD since I started eating more salt. I am currently halfway through a 72 hour fast and it is the first extended fast I've done that I didn't have a horrible headache the entire time! I also found that salt helps keep my hunger in check during a fast as well! I can't believe it, such a tiny little adjustment can make such a huge difference!
      I urge everyone to try it!

    • @TheFastingMethod
      @TheFastingMethod  4 года назад +4

      Hey! Everyone's body composition is unique and everyone needs different amounts of water and salt intake. Just try incorporating more salt into your fasting days whether its by adding it to water, putting some under your tongue, or drinking some broth or sugar-free pickle juice. We need a lot more than we think!

    It is crazy. To stay home and not getting 25(OH)D enough. Eating candy and pizza. All the wrong things to do. I started to do ADFasting and upped my water intake by 20% also salt intake has gone up. Take care All you fasting friends. I try to take all the sun I can get and not burn doing so. Also I stand in cold water for 3-10 minutes (it gives me a 20h running nose though).

    I really appreciate the great conversation on salt. But is this just NaCl (Sodium)? I started IF a month ago, and I sprinkle a little KCl (Potassium) but more NaCl, in warm water/broth, as well Mg tablet on fasting days. Otherwise, I experience terrible cramps, even when awake. What do you think, Meghan?

    • @TheFastingMethod
      @TheFastingMethod  3 года назад +1

      Correct. We recommend good quality NaCl, rather than potassium. Supplementing with potassium is very risky and can lead to serious health consequences. Please check with your doctor prior to supplementing with potassium. Magnesium is a great supplement to use when fasting, as it helps with leg cramps.

    Well taking vitamins and electrolyte supplements while on fasting days break a fast

    • @TheFastingMethod
      @TheFastingMethod  4 года назад

      It depends on your goal(s). If your goal is autophagy, no one knows for certain whether anything other than water and pure electrolytes (i.e. no fillers or sweeteners) will "break" a fast. If your goal is restoring normal blood sugar and insulin levels, they aren't an issue.

      Hey Sandra, everyone's different, but you definitely need a lot more than you think. Start out by adding some to your water or putting a pinch under your tongue. Chances are if you're feeling off you just need some water or more salt! But always listen to your body!
