I looked up videos of the PS5 version and no cutscene stutters in the first hour of gameplay at least. When you say consoles have you actually tested it on any consoles besides Xbox? Cause that seems misleading.

Estoy encantado de poder rejugar este clásico en PS5, pero sin duda es un remaster que, en mi opinión, realza más las virtudes técnicas del original. Los modelados de esta nueva versión son claramente inferiores. Lucen un aspecto más artificial, a pesar de estar más detallados. Los originales son más naturales.
I think I've noticed with the lower graphics the original has somewhat of a foggy look to it, where as the remasters more sharp and clean. I've found that with a few games - like the GTA Definitive Trilogy
@@ScriptedEntertainment Yeah those games including Alan Wake were tailoring the game engine to the hardware they had at the time. So when they remaster older games they very often end up taking away from the look of the original. Like the draw distance limits were covered up with tricks of fog and lighting. When the remakes just up the resolution and draw distance they often end up magnifying the flaws we weren’t meant to see.
@@ScriptedEntertainment I think they may have possibly used more bloom lighting in the original, which combines with the fog to make it look thick and smeary. Maybe. Either that, or maybe the fog effect was just thicker, and they had to scale it back to hit 4k.
@Captain Thunderbolt I think you're right, it definitely can be done in modern games, like RDR2 has some of the best fog/atmosphere I've seen in a game, just when it comes down to remastering older games it doesn't translate well onto an upscale and sharpened screen
@@ScriptedEntertainment I think fog takes a lot of bandwidth - so if that bandwidth is already being used to push the resolution beyond what the engine was capable of at the time, then something has to give, and so they may have scaled back the fog instead of taking a hit to the framerate or lowering back down the resolution. It really hurts the atmosphere though.

The lighting and faces were HEAVILY hit in the negative aspect. I feel that the original artistic direction was lost in a substantial way in the remaster.

@Naked Old SnakeNot overall better. Less fog, "clean" vegetation, weird facial expressions... not everything was a good choice in the remake. There is an unjustified lack of detail and light in some random textures as well. The remake's visuals don't feel cohesive and organic to me. The look of the original is more natural and harmonious.
Finally! The only comparison that makes sense: PC vs PC remastered. Who is supposed to see the changes they really made if you compare everything to a low res xbox 360 version?
@@mortenpotzdidler1998 No, not worse than the 360 version. This comparison was predominately between the 2012 PC port and the PC remaster. The original PC version looks much better than the 360 version.
@@elliotyorkcameron793 Even so, I would still assert that LODs being worse on XSX/PS5 compared to a decade-old PC release is pathetic; and obviously points to these released being built off the base Xbox One/PS4 releases. As far as the 360 looking far worse than this version, from the standpoint of resolution that is obviously so. From the standpoint of subjective issues, including the look and use of fog, foliage, etc., I'm not that taken with what I've seen. Maybe if I booted it on my XSX or PS5 I'd see it differently; sometimes YT isn't the best way to measure port differences. Thanks for the correction and response.

Es mínima porque se están comparando las versiones de PC. En cambio en las versiones de consola se nota demasiado. Recordar que en X360 corría a 544p30FPS. Si comparamos esa versión con el remaster se nota mucho ya que en PS5/XSX es 4K60FPS.
Never played this game but have heard about it and was thinking of checking it out. In some scenes it appears the remaster looks a bit better, but I actually kind of prefer the look of the original. Just an outside opinion from someone who never played the game. Maybe it feels better in actual gameplay. To be clear, it doesn’t look bad at all - I think the original has a better feel though.
@Ching Vang isn't it weird how that worked lol? They originally designed the game with super creepy foggy atmosphere because draw distance was trash - and nailed the atmosphere as a result of that compensation. But then they come out and try to show off enhanced draw distance by removing fog and end up shooting their own foot as a result 🤣🤣 Proof that detail for details sake is never good.
This upgrade very good for console gamers, earlier you can play only on Xbox with ~ 500p @ 30fps, now you play with 1440p @ 60! On PC you can almost always set up higher resolution etc.
They did improve lots of little things in the remaster but overall the impact isn't huge. I like the improved geometry of the characters but those eyes look strange indeed. They are lit up weird. 👀
Thanks for this comparison, the original PC version looks better in most ways (look at character eyes and look at night scenes and the foliage). Even the intro scene looks ugly in the remaster due to less trees which makes the hills look weird. Most of the foliage looks lower quality and less of it in the remaster. There isnt enough GOOD difference to make me get it. Most changes are bad. The new character models look good apart from the awful eyes. And most of the texture changes weren't big enough to matter. Like other people said, it seems like they used the Xbox 360 version for the remaster, instead of the high quality PC version. I think a high quality ReShade preset for ambient occlusion in the Original version would be the best one.
His face is a little weird but finally looks like his real life actor, Ilka Villi. Since the original looked nothing like his face model, it felt a disconnected and hard to believe the same guy in the first game was the one from Control and Alan Wake 2. This remastered was needed and i'm glad it exists
Some people don't understand what a remake is apprently. Look at the difference @ 6:41 it isn't major, but it's an obvious improvement, and it is noticeable. Nightime looks like actual nightime. The foilage, detail, textures all look way better and have added detail. The remaster did what a remaster does. It upscalled the graphics and improved textures, lighting especially when the sunsets and the ambient lightning and godrays are all improved. Shadows, draw distance, more trees and other items scattered around, a lot more detail. New models some better some wprse. The game was already beautiful but the people complaining saying mothing changed or it is a cash grab no. It helped raise awareness for alan wake 2 butbit also improved on everything I just named. It isn't a remake it is a remaster . Huge difference. Both versions of the game are beautiful. Remaster just makes the setting even more beautiful.
Original is too bright. It looks like it happens on foggy day. You do know that night is supposed to be dark in Washington? Only way there would be that much light at night during summer is if location was in northern Canada, Alaska, northern Europe... But it's clearly not summer because they are all wearing winter clothes.
Remastered definitely looks more tense than original imo where the tone colour during night in the woods does give an impression of being overwhelmed by the darkness (enemy) in the game. Reflection looks same to me maybe a bit more improved in remastered while the lighting looks softer and more depth.
The textures, lighting, draw distance, shadows, details, extra items like trees and other objects were also added. It has a noticable improvment to all that. I think the screen you are watching it on needs to be better or you need glasses. If you actually have the remaster it is very noticable. You barley need vision to notice the texture impovment
Es cosa mía o en algunos remasters los juegos, por la nitidez, pierden parte de su magia. Es como si en la versión mejorada se notaran más los defectos y eso, al menos a mi, me afecta a la ambientación mucho.
Gráficamente no es un gran salto pero al final de cuentas es un remaster no un remake, con respecto a iluminación y sobras si esta mejor que el original, con respecto a texturas y modelados hay veces que se ve mejor en el original por lo menos así lo he percibido, pero en fin un gran juego muy recomendado 👍🏼
A mi gusto se corrigieron algunas expresiones faciales en las cutscenes en el remastered, que con respecto al original estaban un tanto " duras ", eso me gusto. No recordaba que el original tuviese tan buen nivel de texturas en los bosques, en el remastered en ciertas partes se ven peor. No me disgusta igual del todo esta version pero pudo haber sido mejor en ciertas cosas.
En espacios iluminados el remaster se nota. Pero cuando se trata de partes nocturnas o del bosque pierde bastante debido a la nitidez ya que eso elimina ese factor más teticro y de ambiente de continuo peligro se tenía el original.
El remaster sin sentido de todos los tiempos. Es más los de pc que jugaron el jugaron el juego o lo tienen aún no verán sentido a este remaster ya que incluso el original en ocasiones se ve mejor que el remaster. Especialmente en la iluminación de lámparas. Vaya decepción
Teóricamente iría mejor en la xbox por la tecnología esa de mejorar la calidad de imagen, el problema es que por optimización va muy mal en las dos xd.
Vale la pena comprar este remastered? No tengo alguna Xbox o PC para poder jugar el original, y a este le traigo muchas ganas desde hace años (incluso cuando jugué CONTROL, me emocioné tanto al ver referencias a Alan Wake sin antes haberlo jugado jajaja).
La versión por la que puedo hablar, PS5, no sufre de Tearing . Algo es algo. Estaría bien un análisis de esta versión para que los usuarios puedan comprobarlo y decidir qué versión comprar.
Yeah,pensé lo mismo . Hacer los entornos más oscuros hace que se pierda el detalle en los escenarios,probablemente pensaron: "Es un juego de terror,mientras más oscuro mejor" Cuando no necesariamente es así XD
Creo que lo importante es tener en cuenta que este remaster es más para quienes no han podido jugar aún el juego. Yo me quedo feliz con versión original en 360. Disfruten de uno de los mejores juegos de Xbox y de la antepasada generación.

En algunos aspectos el original se ve mejor que el remaster, teniendo en cuenta que es un remaster y no un remake y esta a precio reducido creo que son cosas que podemos pasar por alto, en lo personal yo lo compre por 2 motivos: 1.- es de mis juegos favoritos y 2.- quiero apoyar a remedy para que en algun futuro hagan alan wake 2.

Lamentablemente las tv de hoy en día, se van actualizando cada vez y ya no son compatibles con las consolas antiguas y necesitas de otros medios para poder conectar, que salga la imagen y jugar…
Este juego fue hecho pensado en cómo lo correría la Xbox 360 y por eso adaptaron la iluminación y el renderizando a ello, en el remaster no tienes ese límite ya y al “arreglar” esa iluminación se cargaron completamente la atmósfera del mundo.
There is even use of Tessellation on the Remaster. So ground textures and buildings have crevices and indentations and bumps to them now. Not even the PC release had that back on the day.
@@CyborgSodaCollects Yeah! I've played the 360 version many times over the years. And as a whole. This remaster is well done to me. Playing the 360 version is like playing Orange Box today. There are textures in there that don't hold up. Plus all the hitching. The remaster is way better. Plus all those Control and Alan Wake 2 secrets. I'd suggest looking up Alan Wake Remastered QR Codes. After you've finished the game and if you've finished Controls AWE expansion. It's a big hint to Alan Wake 2.

@1:27 the otginal looks so much better. I love Alan Wake and the game is beautiful and has aged well. Playing the remaster does more justice to it though it overall looks better especially textures and lighting. The orginal was already beautiful but in this video sometimes the orginal looks better sometimes the remaster does. Especially at night. Day time and sunsets look a lot better in the remaster though. The remaster shines when it comes to lighting, shadows, textures, and some models.
Increíble lo que veo.....este juego salio hace 14 años y su versión remasterizada no presenta una mejora significativa....pienso que los desarrolladores no le dieron la importancia que merecia.
El original me encantó en su día y ahora estoy gozando de nuevo el remaster. Tu comaprativa me parece de lo más precisa debo decir :) En particular es cierto que donde más se nota la mejora es en la luz. Bueno, y texturas claro, pero la luz y las sombras tienen mucha importancia en el juego xD Un apartado donde noto que podría mejorar es en la animación del personaje. Me da la sensación de que el movimiento de alan se nota brusco...o quizás menos pulido que juegos más actuales. Y si, muy cierto que si se hubiera parecido más a Control en el uso de las fuentes de luz (juego 1000% recomendable y que está ligado a Alan Wake), el Remaster hubiera sido una locura. La ambientación del Alan Wake con los efectos de control? de locos xDD Mención especial para el mando de ps5 y las propiedades que le dieron en el Remaster
si lo jugaron a 1080 en su día en PC, no creo q valga la pena ahora jugar en la misma resolución. Este remáster brilla jugándolo en 4k, pero no todos tenemos monitores en esa resolución y mucho menos tarjetas con DLSS.
Para ser honesto, el mejor remaster no remake, que he visto es el de Mass Effect Legendary Edition, en especial el 1, fuera de ahí la gran mayoría dejan mucho que desear, y este no es la excepción lamentablemente.

While I can appreciate the upgraded lighting during the day scenes, the night scenes somehow look better in the original version.

They originally designed the game with super creepy foggy atmosphere because draw distance was trash - and nailed the atmosphere as a result of that compensation. But then they come out and try to show off enhanced draw distance by removing fog and end up shooting their own foot as a result 🤣🤣 Proof that detail for details sake is never good.

This upgrade very good for console gamers, earlier you can play only on Xbox with ~ 500p @ 30fps, now you play with 1440p @ 60! On PC you can almost always set up higher resolution etc.

They did improve lots of little things in the remaster but overall the impact isn't huge. I like the improved geometry of the characters but those eyes look strange indeed. They are lit up weird. 👀

Thanks for this comparison, the original PC version looks better in most ways (look at character eyes and look at night scenes and the foliage). Even the intro scene looks ugly in the remaster due to less trees which makes the hills look weird. Most of the foliage looks lower quality and less of it in the remaster. There isnt enough GOOD difference to make me get it. Most changes are bad. The new character models look good apart from the awful eyes. And most of the texture changes weren't big enough to matter. Like other people said, it seems like they used the Xbox 360 version for the remaster, instead of the high quality PC version. I think a high quality ReShade preset for ambient occlusion in the Original version would be the best one.

En el remaster parece que se hizo una bichetomia, se ve bien demacrado, no lo he jugado, algún día lo jugaré, bien video.
His face is a little weird but finally looks like his real life actor, Ilka Villi. Since the original looked nothing like his face model, it felt a disconnected and hard to believe the same guy in the first game was the one from Control and Alan Wake 2.

The original still looks good today.
Some people don't understand what a remake is apprently. Look at the difference @ 6:41 it isn't major, but it's an obvious improvement, and it is noticeable. Nightime looks like actual nightime. The foilage, detail, textures all look way better and have added detail. The remaster did what a remaster does. It upscalled the graphics and improved textures, lighting especially when the sunsets and the ambient lightning and godrays are all improved. Shadows, draw distance, more trees and other items scattered around, a lot more detail. New models some better some wprse. The game was already beautiful but the people complaining saying mothing changed or it is a cash grab no. It helped raise awareness for alan wake 2 butbit also improved on everything I just named. It isn't a remake it is a remaster . Huge difference. Both versions of the game are beautiful. Remaster just makes the setting even more beautiful.

Original is too bright. It looks like it happens on foggy day. You do know that night is supposed to be dark in Washington? Only way there would be that much light at night during summer is if location was in northern Canada, Alaska, northern Europe...
But it's clearly not summer because they are all wearing winter clothes.
Remastered definitely looks more tense than original imo where the tone colour during night in the woods does give an impression of being overwhelmed by the darkness (enemy) in the game. Reflection looks same to me maybe a bit more improved in remastered while the lighting looks softer and more depth.

The textures, lighting, draw distance, shadows, details, extra items like trees and other objects were also added. It has a noticable improvment to all that. I think the screen you are watching it on needs to be better or you need glasses. If you actually have the remaster it is very noticable. You barley need vision to notice the texture impovment

Es cosa mía o en algunos remasters los juegos, por la nitidez, pierden parte de su magia. Es como si en la versión mejorada se notaran más los defectos y eso, al menos a mi, me afecta a la ambientación mucho.

Gráficamente no es un gran salto pero al final de cuentas es un remaster no un remake, con respecto a iluminación y sobras si esta mejor que el original, con respecto a texturas y modelados hay veces que se ve mejor en el original por lo menos así lo he percibido, pero en fin un gran juego muy recomendado 👍🏼

A no ser que alguien quiera jugarlo en 4K, no veo que merezca la pena para quien tenga el original.
El original se ve excelente en 4K, las texturas nuevas no me gustaron para nada.
A mi gusto se corrigieron algunas expresiones faciales en las cutscenes en el remastered, que con respecto al original estaban un tanto " duras ", eso me gusto. No recordaba que el original tuviese tan buen nivel de texturas en los bosques, en el remastered en ciertas partes se ven peor. No me disgusta igual del todo esta version pero pudo haber sido mejor en ciertas cosas.
Nunca jugue alan wake pero me gusta mas el modelo original no se porque lo cambiaron tanto.

En espacios iluminados el remaster se nota. Pero cuando se trata de partes nocturnas o del bosque pierde bastante debido a la nitidez ya que eso elimina ese factor más teticro y de ambiente de continuo peligro se tenía el original.
En Un juego donde el foco central es la oscuridad y te la pasás casi todo el así, sigue sin valer la pena qué en sus partes de luz se vea cambió 🤣

Creo que lo importante es tener en cuenta que este remaster es más para quienes no han podido jugar aún el juego. Yo me quedo feliz con versión original en 360. Disfruten de uno de los mejores juegos de Xbox y de la antepasada generación.

En algunos aspectos el original se ve mejor que el remaster, teniendo en cuenta que es un remaster y no un remake y esta a precio reducido creo que son cosas que podemos pasar por alto, en lo personal yo lo compre por 2 motivos: 1.- es de mis juegos favoritos y 2.- quiero apoyar a remedy para que en algun futuro hagan alan wake 2.

Valió la pena campeón, se viene AW2 en mi caso lo compré por las dos expansiones que no pude jugar en su momento.

Se ve tan mal la versión remastered, que en el vídeo puedes intercambiar los enunciados de "original" y "remastered" y así sí tendría sentido.
Este juego fue hecho pensado en cómo lo correría la Xbox 360 y por eso adaptaron la iluminación y el renderizando a ello, en el remaster no tienes ese límite ya y al “arreglar” esa iluminación se cargaron completamente la atmósfera del mundo.
El original es mejor que el remaster
They both have their strengths. Remaster ground textures are definitely superior. Added geometric complexity in the diner counter.
There is even use of Tessellation on the Remaster. So ground textures and buildings have crevices and indentations and bumps to them now. Not even the PC release had that back on the day.

@@CyborgSodaCollects Yeah! I've played the 360 version many times over the years. And as a whole. This remaster is well done to me. Playing the 360 version is like playing Orange Box today. There are textures in there that don't hold up. Plus all the hitching. The remaster is way better. Plus all those Control and Alan Wake 2 secrets. I'd suggest looking up Alan Wake Remastered QR Codes. After you've finished the game and if you've finished Controls AWE expansion. It's a big hint to Alan Wake 2.

La remasterización creo que va dirigida mayormente a la versión de consola, que directamente con la versión de PC.

@1:27 the otginal looks so much better. I love Alan Wake and the game is beautiful and has aged well. Playing the remaster does more justice to it though it overall looks better especially textures and lighting. The orginal was already beautiful but in this video sometimes the orginal looks better sometimes the remaster does. Especially at night. Day time and sunsets look a lot better in the remaster though. The remaster shines when it comes to lighting, shadows, textures, and some models.

En particular es cierto que donde más se nota la mejora es en la luz. Bueno, y texturas claro, pero la luz y las sombras tienen mucha importancia en el juego xD
Un apartado donde noto que podría mejorar es en la animación del personaje. Me da la sensación de que el movimiento de alan se nota brusco...o quizás menos pulido que juegos más actuales.
Y si, muy cierto que si se hubiera parecido más a Control en el uso de las fuentes de luz (juego 1000% recomendable y que está ligado a Alan Wake), el Remaster hubiera sido una locura. La ambientación del Alan Wake con los efectos de control? de locos xDD
Mención especial para el mando de ps5 y las propiedades que le dieron en el Remaster
si lo jugaron a 1080 en su día en PC, no creo q valga la pena ahora jugar en la misma resolución. Este remáster brilla jugándolo en 4k, pero no todos tenemos monitores en esa resolución y mucho menos tarjetas con DLSS.

Para ser honesto, el mejor remaster no remake, que he visto es el de Mass Effect Legendary Edition, en especial el 1, fuera de ahí la gran mayoría dejan mucho que desear, y este no es la excepción lamentablemente.
