I only discovered TCR a couple of years ago on RUclips. Bob Phillips was a pleasure to listen to, but J.B. Sauceda hit it out of the park his first time up. At almost 85 years old, I don't know how many more years I'll get to enjoy TCR, but with J.B. at the helm, those years that I do have will be enjoyable, I'm sure. I was born in Abernathy in 1939, then lived in Amarillo until the summer of '52, when my family moved to Albuquerque for a job. After graduation from HS in 1958, I joined the Navy, where I served for 30 years. After I retired from the Navy, I moved to Phoenix for a job that I really wanted as a Navy JROTC instructor. Even though I haven't lived in Texas since '52, I've always appreciated the fact that I am a native-born Son of Texas. When I do draw my final breath, I'll leave this earth with the knowledge that the Eyes of Texas are upon me.
Lordy, I can’t tell you how appreciative I am of both your kind words and your story. Cheers to you and the many more years we’ll spend driving the backroads of Texas together.
Yeah New Mexico is horrible unless you are a Constitutional Auditor, then these youtubers have seemly endless amounts of stories to share about New Mexico. I served in New Mexico as well.
As a music teacher in San Benito I really do appreciate you highlighting the fine arts and what they can do for our children. Thank you for that.👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎭🩰🎵❤️
I’ll always miss Bob Phillips but this is a new chapter and JB is gonna be terrific in one of the greatest jobs ever. Best wishes. Always keep your humanity! That’s the best part of TCR.
As a member of Mrs Angelo's first musicals in 1967 and 1968, I want to thank you for somehow making this video that was perfection in honoring her incredible life and accomplishments.
WOW. You are off to a great start. The look in your eyes, the set of your jaw, the tone of your voice, the pride you exhibit and the emotion for the story you bring to us are indicators you were meant to be the new Texas Country Reporter. Bob, Kelly and team TCR did good. We welcome you and look forward to your upcoming episodes. 👍👍👏👍🇺🇲🇺🇲
I wasn’t born in Texas got here when I was 21 and fell in love with everything Texas. I love this show and have watched it for 31yrs thank you for keeping it alive
Congrats JB, you got one of the best gig in the world, stay humble and true to Texas culture, leave out the politics, and you will succeed sir! Godspeed!
Great job on the first one, J. B.! Bob and Kelley, I’m sure, couldn’t be more proud of you knowing that they got the best Man for the job! I’m going on 73, and have enjoyed TCR for many moons now, and look forward to more great Texas shows, from you, JB! Stay humble!
Congratulations on being chosen as the new host of Texas Country Reporter. You have a great voice and personality for the job, and I know that you’ll be welcomed by all the fans of the show. God’s blessings on your new journey.
J B, your producers have selected the absolute best fellow to continue TCR! YOU ARE A DELIGHTFUL PERSON WHO OBVIOUSLY HAS A DEEP LOVE FOR texas and Texans. Many thanks for your efforts and Linda Gayle and I will remain staunch admirers.
Absolutely fantastic job J.B.. Years ago when I applied for a job at KPRC all I wanted to do was be a photographer for Ray Miller's "Eyes Of Texas". Well it didn't work out. Telling stories like that is all I wanted to do. You and your crew keep up the good work! very proud of you filling the seat in the TCR SUV.
Welcome aboard J.B you did a great job on this video and we're looking forward to many more from you! You bring recognition to local people who make a difference in their communities and share it to all your viewers.
Tears of happiness for you, J.B.. You'll do Texas pround. I am looking forward to traveling the state of Texas with you. Give your mom and pop a big ol hug for me for bringing up a great human being.
Well, Mr. Sauceda, you sure know what you are doing and I certainly will continue to keep up with you and TCR. I live in the middle of South Carolina, but I have been to Texas a few times and have a few friends from there. Love that state! All the best to you and your family. Love y'all!
♥️✝️🇺🇸 JB, so glad they picked you ! I was born and raised Texan have always lived here & have watched Texas country reporter forever ! Bob is a good guy and I believe that you can feel his shoes well ! Best wishes !
Just picked up the series again as a memory to fill an endless void called life. I remember watching TCR so early in the mornings on weekends on KIII, it let me see the state I've grown up in from the comfort of home. The Phillips were amazing people, and I wish nothing but the best for them, and for you as well J.D. Congratulations on the host role, and I look forward to seeing your gig of filling some pretty big boots.
Bob introduced us all to people and places that we may have otherwise never knew about .. hat's off to Bob Phillips .. .. seemed to always know the right thing to say .. 🥸
This is so sweet and beautiful. i feel that texas being the cultural desert not from its own culture but a culture away from the world and in so many ways isolated, that the school system, and the theater department and choir, and band are a bridge toward the rest of civilization.
He is great!!! I have watched TCR x25 yrs and will definitely continue with him! Awesome pick!!! Continue the great reporting and work and calm demeanor.
JB, welcome! If this is what we are going to see from TCR. I am excited to see many more episodes from you. Thank you for sharing a little bit about yourself. Even though you are filling a very large pair of shoes, you are doing a mighty fine job of doing just that. Keep up the good work.
Welcome J.B!! I grew up in Seabrook just down the road from you. Now I am in the Hill Country. Got tired of hurricanes--lol. I know you are going to do great!! I know you are proud getting to be our new Texas Country reporter and will do us all right to show off our beautiful state!
My wife, daughter, and I loved your kickoff episode! Especially the profile on Miss A. It was everything this show is about. As my wife said "They found the right person to host."
I grew up on Canada's West Coast but have called America home of for the past decade. I've long been intrigued with Texas and have visited several times. I so look forward to watching future episodes of your RUclips channel!
What a lovely episode! Such a joy I see you, JB. Young, energetic, a proud Texan. I'm happy TCR chose you because you are the face of Texas. Welcome and love from Ennis!
I have watched this show since it first aired, on my deployments to war my family would tape them for me and I would show my buddies the shows that they recorded. I am now since retired from the Army, still overseas working, and thank goodness for RUclips I can still watch the new Beginning Mr Sauceda is bringing to the show. Keep on those back roads brother, you are doing a tremendous job and I know Bob is resting easy knowing that this legacy has been passed on to true Texas hands.
Bravo JB! I've watched since it started when I was 10 in Fort worth when it was 4 Country Reporter. Now at 62 in Justin, TX and retired, you did the tradition of the show proud! Bravo!
Great job J.B.!! Wishing you the best in all you do! I too am a native Texan and I've been watching TCR since 1972 when Bob first started! I believe it was called "4 Country Reporter" back then! You'll have a great future with TCR!
J B looking forward to new adventures thru Texas with you and your eyes and stories .... your got this ... here is to years w/ you ... I have learned sometimes change is good !
Your story about your hometown and the theater program at La Port high school, and Mrs. Angelo brought a tear to my eyes also. What a wonderful legacy.
Wow, J.B. did a great job on his first episode. Thank you for continuing to make use of the "touching music" that Bob frequently used at the end of his episodes. It adds a nice touch.
Hi, JB, really enjoyed your first show. I used to think that Texas was not that great, but watching TCR and The Bucket List helped change my mind. A highlight of our trips was the one to Big Bend. Spectacular! Hope to make it back there one more time. Maybe, I'l see you there !!
I started watching these relaxing Texas shows with Ron Stone in The "Eyes of Texas" and then Bob Phillips came along with "Texas Country Reporter", What a treat having two relaxing shows every Saturday evening. As a result, I've traveling and enjoyed the entire state of Texas, Thanks for continuing this great tradition inspiring all of us to enjoy everything our great state has to offer,
I have been watching TCR since I was a youngster. I have always looked forward to Sunday mornings to watch the episodes. Just watched the first episode, forgot it had gone to youtube! Great episode sir. I started watching TCR ever since Bob Phillips was the guy introducing Texans to the Dairy Queen Bizzard! I might be wrong but think that was season 1! This was an excellent first episode and tells us Bob made a great decision in choosing you to carry on the great TCR tradition. I love you have kept that piano piece. 69 years old and it still tells me “yeah, that was a great story! Tell me more.” I’ll be watching for you a little further down the road.
Just watched your first episode. You were awesome. TCR is in great hands & will continue to be the amazing show it's always been. I am looking forward to all the new episodes.❤❤
At first, I was upset that Phillips was leaving. I do have to say that J.B. has a natural gift for getting to the heart of things. His reporting gives a different feel that I thought would be lost. I'm in poor health and 73 years old. God only knows how much longer I can go on. I was born in El Paso, and to me, he represents a Texan I grew up loving. Thank you, J.B., for the life you've lived, the fine person you are, and for sharing hope with the people of Texas to all of us.
I've been watching your fun videos in TT and felt pretty happy to see you in this channel now. And I love your photography! That was new to me! I think this spot was just waiting for you for the right time. Looking forward to all the new adventures! 😀👍

I must say J.B. ur doing Bob, his family nd our Texas oh Texas Proud! A New chapter has started in this awesome legacy of a show, nd u deserved to be the next Representative of our great state! Thanks looking forward to plenty more shows.
JB, this was wonderful, can’t decide which I enjoyed the most, but Ms.A’s story brought a tear to my eye. Those are the teacher you still think of fondly years after high school, in my case more than 50 years ago. I’ve enjoyed TCR for years, so, wishing you the very best as you start on this journey sharing all the beautiful stories Texas has to share.
My father was born in Ft Worth Texas. My Grandfather was a Texas Ranger. I was not born here but I have been in Texas for 27 years. Texas pride wells in my heart and always will!

Amarillo!!! Ill never leave it
I've only been to Texas once. Northern Alberta Canada born and raised, - yet every episode of TCR makes me homesick for Texas!
As a native Texan who used to live in Montana and visited the beautiful Canadian Rockies as often as we could I get the same feelings about Alberta.
I've watched TCR as long as I can remember. Bob's voice is iconic. Be that voice and fill those boots and make us proud.
I’m a longtime TCR fan. They HIT IT OUT OF THE BALLPARK with JB Sauceda! Perfect fit!
I couldn't agree more!!
LOVE IT, JB!!! ❤
I grew up watching Bob Philips, you have big shoes to fill. So make Texas proud and the rest of the world envious.😀
As a music teacher in San Benito I really do appreciate you highlighting the fine arts and what they can do for our children. Thank you for that.👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎭🩰🎵❤️
What a relief to watch this and come to the realization that things are in good hands. What made TCR special is still with us.
Excellent first episode J.B. As a native Texan, I thoroughly enjoyed it. You set the bar high!
