There's something about the bed alcove(?) in the "granny house" that I find charming; I guess it's the curtains, instead of a door. Fascination since childhood with curtains as partitions, and alcoves as snug "secret" places.
Sorry to be so off topic but does any of you know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost my login password. I would love any help you can offer me.
Was there a scene cut when Hester is showing them around the garden? Why do I want to say that Nancy came out and put on "the old woman act" to frighten them?
It's the Council tax, which is the local tax which helps councils pay for the services they provide. They use the money collected for council tax to maintain roads and street lighting, for services such as street cleaning and rubbish collection and for things like 'Meals on wheels', and a lot of other stuff that they waste our money on, it goes up every year.
@@muk8804 I believe that the water and utilities was only included for people who lived in council houses. People who owned their own property still had to pay those items separately. Rates/council house have never fairer, it was fairer when Margaret Thatcher sorted it out which meant everyone had to pay their share, until the populace rebelled against it, then it became an unfair tax. Then it became what it is now, you can have a family of 4 + living next door to two people and they have to pay the same amount.
I never missed an Episode of this timeless wonderful Comedy in the 80s. 😊
Wish we had more programs like this in 2023. Sad, we don't. Bud those were the days.
Love this show, and the actors are great.
This house in Barnes would probably cost around the £5m these days.

It was what existed prior to Council tax however for many people, was fairer as rates sometimes included water and utilities
