Liked the video but I would suggest adding a clear connector to the hose so you can see when the the water is free of stuff. Not a pretty sight at the beginning of the flush but it gives peace of mind knowing when your tank is clean.
Thanks for sharing your experience, it was helpful in identifying a suitable product to clean my blank tank however after watching the manufacturer video in the product link you provided, they noted that it was very important not to let the toilet valve close on the hose as it can damage the rubber seal on the valve. I noticed you kept your toilet flush valve closed and it might be worth updating the video with a note disclaimer so others don't damage their valves. The manufacturers' video also showed that there are 2 different versions of the stick depending on the style of black tank/location you have.
We just did our first cleaning with the Swivel Stick. We found that someone before us (used RV) must have used brown paper towels and flushed it down! The good news is when the Swivel is working properly, it’s rather noisy. When it gets really quiet, something has wrapped around the swivel! So when we pulled it out the paper towel was wrapped around it! We didn’t refill the tank as you suggest but will next time! Thanks!
Careful with this product. The first time I tested it, the hose part shot loose from the white pvc part. I thought some waterproof tape would hold it together, so I used that and tested it in the yard--worked. Went to the toilet to break up a clog and it worked within seconds, followed by the hose shooting off again. Now I guess it floating around in my black tank.
My parents have had campers for most of my life and I don't think I ever used the bathrooms inside lol. They always told us to use the campground bathrooms unless it was an emergency. I guess they wanted to avoid this process XD
Could be. A lot of the newer campers have a flush system built in which sprays the inside of the black tank. But I'm sure your parents simply did t want you using trailer's toilet since it can really stink if you can't empty the tank every day or so. I'm honestly surprised by how many state parks still don't have sewer hookups at all the RV camp sites.
You should check into a Tornado tank riser. It is best thing i ever added to my RVs. No hoses through a window ever again and it's easy to install for about $30
Thanks! Rachel's been wanting to do this for a while now. It was actually earlier than we though it would be, so we might add the black tank flush to our monthly RV maintenance list.
Thank you very much. We think we have toilet paper stuck inside. Thank omorrow I will order the swivel stick and hopefully able to clean the paper out of the tank.
Would it be better to use something like a pressure washer for that kind of job. Let's say your pump stopped working for a few months and "stuff" remained in there. Wouldnt it harden up and just stick to the sides for a very long time. I get the chemicals part too at the end of the hose process. But without an actual pump, from pumpbiz with the button that helps it flow easier with a blade inside the motor, couldn't you possibly be missing a lot?
We did consider it, but they are quite expensive and it's not exactly easier since you have to empty them manually every time. This cleaning that we did in the video only happens once every few months. Usually, we just go outside and pull the lever to empty the tanks and call it a day.
@@TheGrayAdventures-Okay , just something to consider if those other options arent available anymore and with composting toilets if you clean them correctly , they dont smell like toilets. I've heard from many people here on youtube that use them that when you have to empty out the container with the waste- it is an earthy smell because of the biodegradable material you have to add to the toilet , which if something should ever happen in our country- you will have an option for a toilet. Just keep that in mind. Thanks for responding.
@@TheGrayAdventures How big is your black water tank and how often do you use the toilet per day? Idk if you guys live full time or not in the rv?? I'm going to live full time in my van and I'm leaning towards a composting toilet, but after watching this video the black tank doesnt seem so bad if its only every few months. What about the smells with the black tank though? Is it bad and noticable? What can you do to help combat any smelly smells lol?
Okay...just saw this tonight 12/26/2020 Question. When finished using the spray wand at a RV campsite where and how do you clean ..rinse the sprayer wand? I hope it us not washed off at the campsite and contaminating the campsite area. Would appreciate your answer please.
I had the same black tank wand. it broke after six months of use. The rubber hose snapped off from the plastic wand. Fortunately it happened when the hose was outside of the toilet!

Very clear & easy th follow tutorial. Like you, I'm obsessed with the upkeep of our black tank.
The GRAY Adventures doing a video about a BLACK tank - kind of funny! Also, very informative video.

Liked the video, but would love to know if it solved the stinky, smell problem?

That noise that you are hearing is the brass swivel eating away at the plastic holding tank.
Thank you for taking us through the process of cleaning out the black tank.
Be thankful that RUclips doesn't have a smellovision option.
I added a two way water inlet through my rv wall, no more window passing
Hahaha you said pooptasrophe! Thank you for showing us how. First time owners and this was great.
One suggestion when open the tank valve drain ,pull straight out on the handle.

Thanks! Looks like a great option. We might need to ad this to our tank to avoid the hassle of the Swivel Stik.
not that bad ruclips.net/video/dfTd0Slt_cU/видео.html
Tornado tank riser's are JUNK. But they will happily take your money.
how many gallons is your black water tank??
Very useful. Thanks!
could you attach the hose to the washer hookup inside? Hence not passing via a window?
You could, but it wouldn't have as much water pressure.
Ah, the joys of RV living! 😉 Great step by step video.

The Gray Adventures - we just got s new camper that has a black tank flush port, so now I have my husband flush it out every time we move! 😆
Would this work with bends in the piping between the toilet and the tank? Or does it need to be a straight shot?
It's a hard tube, so it'll only work if the black tank is immediately below the toilet.
@Sarah I don't think it'll be long enough though, that's an issue I had even with a flexible one
Thank you very much. We think we have toilet paper stuck inside. Thank omorrow I will order the swivel stick and hopefully able to clean the paper out of the tank.

Yes I am super sensitive to smells also

Would you guys consider a composting toilet , so much easier and less stinky. Natures head toilet had pretty good reviews.

I can’t speak to their experience, but, if you bring the wand out dirty, your job isn’t done.
does this substitute for blank tank flush?
Yes.
do you do this like once a month? or do you wand clean it every time you dump the black tank after a camping trip?
Once every two weeks we do a deep flush. You woul become surprised what dosent come out and you miss even if you see clear water!!
Ans we live.in one full.time
I was told every 3 months of use.

Hopefully that doesn't happen to us. How many times did you use it before it broke.
The Gray Adventures Probably six times, I would spray out the tank about once a month.
We'll start keeping count. One down, five more to go (but hopefully, a lot more).
Can’t believe you don’t have gloves on 🤭
❤
Wear gloves!
I think she farted
no shoes, gross
Yeah, feet are disgusting.
The Gray Adventures and no gloves wtf nasty
No gloves, bare feet? You're dealing with human waste.i wouldn't be worrying about the the smell...more worried about what human waste carrys.Yuck!
