if anyone has issues with newer versions of blender, try these settings for the wave texture:
scale : 1.7
distortion: 1.9
detail : 16
detail scale : 9.9
detail roughness : 0.5
phase offset : 33.3
they fixed it for me

@The Holy Quran Hi, I am trying to make this a loop. So that you can just render this thing as image sequence or .mov with transparent background and put it as texture in a game engine.
@The Holy Quran Yes. In game engines you can add textures to your object right? I don't know much about game engines.

In Blender 2.9 it might look different as wave texture has some new functions there (Spherical, Detail Roughness & Phase offset). So just change mapping scales to 0.08 and in wave texture play with phase offset to get the portal right.

Hello! Nice video! I've been trying to make the portals like you did but I hit a bit of a dead end. I'm using Blender 4 and can't use the Keyframes features. I've tried everything, even reading through the comments, but still no result. Can you pls tell me how to do it in Blender 4 if you don't mind?

It's in shader editor. If you add a material to your object like emission or principle bsdf, then in shader editor screen you would see this .. See a tutorial on materials in blender

I wanted to ask you how do you change shape from circle to other shape (2:14 minutes)? (Sorry for the grammar I’m Italian, I hope you understand me)
Make sure you are doing it using a circle instead of a plane. Also please check in wave texture wave type is ring, wave profile is sine, scale is 3.4 , distortion is 6.5, detail 16 and detail scale is around 14 . If you are still having the issue you may ping me on Instagram : @effexinfinity

That's an add-on called node wrangler. Turn on that add-on then select one node and press ctrl + t.
Interesting.. Following step-by-step in 2.9 i can`t get the same result.. i stucked - i cant get only circle... only circle with point inside :C (1:53 on your video, i have fat point in the center of the circle)
Try changing the scale of all coordinates in mapping .
Please make tutorial for this again for blender 2.9

how to add keyframe?
Make sure to select the node. Then move the mouse cursor to any of the functions, like x location or y rotation and press i over there.
