I don't know what West you are talking but in the US that repair would be unsafe so the rail would be recycled, not thrown away. Repairing is not the same as recycling, repairing that frame would put everyone at risk.

Yes the Fabrication looks all very nice and straight wait untill it is put under extreme working conditions then see how great it is. Welding this way only weakens the chassis rails and that is why you never change the heat they are fitted with. Sorry guys my opinion after 40 years in the truck Chassis industry. Aussie Bob.

Well that was enlightening, the sides of the chassis were still twisted, no proper weld preparation, not even a sniff of a torque wrench, finished chassis not checked for squareness, parallelism. The truck went down the mountainside without the use of a road, and had been repaired before. All in all the truck's future looks very dim, especially with the poor welding. So much more but it becomes boring, however you never see the repaired items being driven in a straight line down the road, that's worrying.

Speaking as a retired mechanical engineer i would have prefered to replace the main chassis rails with new rather than weld up the cracks and straighten it on a hydraulic press. Most of the rest of it is just cross stays and short stiffening pieces that can better resist the twisting forces and so are likely to be ok. Other than that I'd say Hat's off to these guys for doing a great job. Incidentally using a big hammer like these guys do requires skill and practice. Thanks for the video, it's excellent.
