- Episode 26: WWF Royal Rumble (Dreamcast)
WWF Royal Rumble is a professional wrestling video game released in 2000 for arcades and Dreamcast. THQ released the game for the Dreamcast while Sega released the game for arcades. The arcade version was the first WWF game released to arcades since WWF WrestleMania in 1995, and the last WWF or WWE arcade game to date. Japanese company Yuke's, developers of the WWF SmackDown! series of wrestling games was involved in the game's development and released the Dreamcast version in Japan. The game is based on the World Wrestling Federation and the company's yearly Royal Rumble event.
The "superstars left" sign at the bottom of the screen in royal rumble mode is how many you personally have to eliminate. confused the hell out of me too when i first played it :D
It made my day to find you here Larry!
I know Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Bishop Zion instablaster =)
@Malcolm Denver Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out now.
Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Malcolm Denver it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my ass :D
The Theme at the beginning was the Actual Royal Rumble 2000 Theme
Haters gone hate.
The reason the intro is like that is because the royal rumble from that year was themed like that. And the music was the theme song for the ppv.
When this game was being developed, D'lo Brown was intended to be a big star, and then he paralyzed Droz in an in-ring accident and it destroyed his push entirely
D'lo Brown Paralyzed Droz on accident and Droz forgave him and Droz could walk with the help of a cane now
1. The timer is stuck, because those are YOUR eliminations left. Not in total.
2. The theme was the official 2000 Royal Rumble Theme.
This was pretty much an oversimplified Smackdown with cleaner graphics. Hella wished it actually was a Smackdown game.
Just Bring It did a hell of a lot better that this.
I remember playing this back at the old wwf nyc resteraunt
brandon cabiness as a kid my dream was to go to wwf New York but sadly I never got to by the time I actually went on vacation to nyc it was 2010 place was looooong gone by that point
Lucky!
Tell more! What was the menu like, what did you have?...etc
I got to go to WWF NY I met this waiter training to be a wrestler I donno if he ever made it I hope he did.
I remember renting this game back in the day and being pissed that Kurt Angle was missing his knee and elbow pads lol. The game always felt like an unfinished product to me.
Royal Rumble mode lowers counter when YOU eliminate someone.
The cage makes it so you can't use your partner for special moves, so it DOES change game play and strategy.
I bought this in 2001, just a few months after buying the greatest wrestling game ever on its release day(No Mercy). Because it was on Dreamcast, and it allowed more than double the wrestlers on-screen, I thought it would rock. It's laughably shitty by comparison. Shame on THQ
I never played this game, and it doesn't look like I have anything to regret. Lol
I have this game and i say that it's true.
You would
Bradley Hargett My first wrestling game, definitely nostalgic, but it was pretty terrible
I was jealous of Dreamcast owners when I was a kid because I wanted to play this game so bad. Turns out I didn’t miss much lol
Nope lol
It kicked ass especially for the time
@@justthisguy1948 not when there's no mercy
Yeah u aint missed out mid at best honestly
The generic music in the game menu is actually the 2000 PPV's theme
Yikes..
The two only games I own on Dreamcast is Resident Evil Code Veronica and Mortal Kombat Gold.👍
I didn't know that "Attitude" was released on Dreamcast... I have been looking to replace my old PS1 copy, so I'll definitely be buying the DC version!
this was the Only WWE/WWF game I never played.
this is the only WWF game I never played. *
Has there actually been a wrestling game since then, that featured more than 9 wrestlers in the ring at one time?
+Alexokrat Yeah, on the Genesis, but not systems that came out after the year 1999 :P
Legends of Wrestling series.
Just Bring It had 8 wrestlers
Yeah, Just Bring it had 8 man matches for Normal, 8 Man Tag, TLC, Hell in the Cell & Ladder matches. However, that was the only game to have 8 man matches up until WWE 2K18, where they reintroduce the feature.
@@JumugiDesunra JBI tag matches only go to 6-man.
I remember going to my local arcade spot with 20 coins in my pocket ready to bet this game.I bet the game before my mom hit the parking lot lol
Perfect description of what this game was. This guy knows his shit. Well Done.
Loved this game despite the lack of everything
Man this game was fun back then and supported 9 wrestlers in royal rumble match lol 😂
I remember owning this long long time ago. Was quite disappointing. Lack of options for matches and lack of characters. Gameplay was about the only thing it had going for it.
The only time i would play royal rumble when my friends came over. It was fun, but once they left i will not even touch that game.
the music is theme song for the royal rumble 2000 ppv
The game is actually fun to play but the lack of modes and wrestlers kind of sucked .
Wouldn't the cage prevent your partner from interfering and thus it changes the game in that sense?
I got this used from a GameStop as a kid, years after the Dreamcast was popular, maybe like 2003. I remember enjoying that it was fast paced compared with other wrestling games, but the N64 games were where it was at of course. Tbh it was also fun to play with friends. But, again, I was a kid. I didn’t realize this was an arcade game, that explains the limitations!
The N64 games were waaaay ahead of their time. Still fun going back to them.
One of the few games I had for dreamcast.
I remember I played this game once at an arcade at an amusement park. That version was one of my favorite wrestling games I had played to that time, and I've been trying to find out the name of it ever sense. Thanks for helping.
I remember being 12 and trading my n64 and games (which included wrestlemania 2000 and no mercy) for a dreamcast with this as my first Dreamcast game. BIG mistake!. The graphics were nice for the time but the gameplay sucked. I still regret that decision lol even as a grown man.
Alex Cuevas your a dumbass Alex
Seems like your a gamestop victim.
Alex Cuevas boy were you stupid! 😄
Alex you're a stupid POS
You must of felt duped lol
I think that number changes when you actually eliminate someone, not if someone else get the elimination, I had the arcade one and that's how it worked.
This game is still fun to play at the arcades.
This game was graphically superior to Smackdown series on PS1. But it was very limited as far as game modes is concerned. Again it was an extra replica of the Naomi Version.
This game was fun, but I remember playing it the first time. I was so disappointed with the lack of everything. Still had some fun times.
This game could of had potential but it was arcade ported over to the Dreamcast!
happy 18th birthday to the dreamcast
As someone who plans to buy a Dreamcast soon and loves WWF/WCW games, boy am I glad I watched this review 😂😂
This game was fun. The Royal rumble mode was amazing
only good part of the game was the rumble. i remember picking it up at software etc for $9.99 back in early 2001 and wondering why it was so cheap. it was so short and lacked any type of depth whatsoever. found out years later it was an actual arcade game.
5:00 I might be able to help explain. If the steel cage shows up, all superstar assists are unavailable for the rest of the match.
Anybody who lived through it knows that intro song is 100% attitude era
I had this game when it was new, and I was pissed - whoever said, "let's only put 19 wrestlers in a game named after its 30-man main event" should be burned at the stake.
I wasn't mad at this game. Wrestling games back then wasn't doing shit with the THQ games til SmackDown came out (didn't this come out first?). I liked the arcade feel of it, plus the 8 man shit was SSM before SSM. MADNESS.
I played this in wwf restaurant in NY
Damn, that’s awesome that you got a chance to go there.
loved the arcade version
It was like smack down on wheels back then.. it needed air here and there but rode fine lol
Its not much but you can unlock Vince and Shane for besting both single player modes
I remember being so pissed that the intro is showing tons of wrestlers who aren't even in the game. Like why have clips of people who aren't even in it lol
It's only fun at the arcades.
Tbh I think this raw and raw 2 are the best looking wrestling games ever
the reason why the rumble count is like that is it only depletes when you eliminate guys
I remember being so excited for this and then being so disappointed 😢
Time machine i never remembered this at all
Purely a couch multiplayer game. No reason to play single player. It had it's moments back in 2000, but the planet was still playing the n64 masterpieces- Revenge/No Mercy
Ты рассказал больше чем стоит сама игра. Повелся я на графику в 2000м году. И только из за этой игры взял дримкаст. Это был эпик фейл
Will you please review WWE ALLSTAR? Your reviews are great thank you.
This game was great for the time
I remember being so excited to get this and damn did it suck.
I really feel bad for anybody who got this for X-Mas
Bought it on release day😔😅
Skies of arcadia was one of the few reasons I owned a Dreamcast....special console though despite what happened with Sega...
@@christopheriverson7103 I was still playing WWF War Zone WWF Attitude for PlayStation and waiting for WWF SmackDown and WWF SmackDown 2!: Know Your Role
Basically an arcade port of the SmackDown series. To find a solid wrestling game you would have had to import Fire Pro D, Giant Gram 3, or Touken Restudien 4. This really could have been a solid franchise or at least ported SD to Dreamcast.
most Dreamcast games were arcade games
When people are tired of you leaving your shopping cart in a parking spot 02:17
Dreamcast had those Amazing Arcade ports. This game was ok. It's just an upgraded faster version of Smackdown 2.
this was a game that I always wanted but i never actually owned a dreamcast
3:10 who booked that shit? XD
The only thing I didn’t get was they was showing Cactus Jack in the intro but he wasn’t in the game 😡
Pretty dumb that Sega didn't ask THQ to release at least the 1st 3 smackdowns to the Dreamcast
all these years I thought a claim made this game but it was actually THQ which surprises me at how horrible it is given how great Smackdown was.
New to your channel..loving the wrestling reviews! this is the only wwe game i never played..always wanted to kno how it was..
Never Played WWF Royal Rumble Arcade or Dreamcast just WWF SmackDown PSX
Basically a SmackDown 2 demo lol
Love your channel
I play this at my local arcade. Its great for an arcade game.
I played the shit out this game oh and still play it in 2022
One of the biggest disappointments on the DC. I traded in my ps2 to buy one and I thought I was finally going to get a next gen Smackdown with this. Couldn’t have been more wrong. The DC got screwed on wrestling games and so did I.
I hate the way this game turned out.
I remember getting this game with the dreamcast for Christmas and playing for a total of 5 min before the dreamcast broke lol
lol your dreamcast could only tolerate the game for five minutes before it pulled the plug on itself?
gongon1037 nah the console itself stopped working lol had to wait a few days to return it
Both WWF SmackDown and WWF SmackDown 2 (PS1) looks and plays a whole lot better than this bad WWF Game
I felt like this was a smackdown Demo
I wish, the 9 or even round it up to 10 wrestlers at once wouldve been available for WWF No Mercy for N64.
Johnny Dogg Would have ran slow, the tag team ladder matches were already bad.
Intresting didn't know this game existed
the Introduction theme to the game sounds like the kat's old theme music back in the day
It kinda was except for the growl beginning.
Billy Gunn was injured at the time
THQ was able to release 2 WWE games for the PSX in one year but they couldn't release a proper WWE game for the DC?
SD1 was pretty much meant for '99 since it had 1999 roster (with Dudleyz and poster version of Survivor Series '99 mat/arena)
the Dreamcast pretty much died right after it was released
I was going to say it looks like smackdown 2 but with better graphics and much worse gameplay…. But you beat me to it 🥲
The last game I bought for Dreamcast before I sold it in middle school
Fun fact my brother bought this game & traded it in the same exact day.
I liked this game when I was younger but I got it for free and I was super bias to this game because it could have 9 wrestlers on the screen at one time
Javier Victoria Yeah, that was the main thing I remember liking it for, other than that, horrible
Bruh that did not come out in 2006 lol Dreamcast wasn't even sold anymore I was 18 back and was very much into gaming.
in 2000 pretty sure road dogg and xpac had kicked billy gunn to the curb and he was on his mr ass tour.
Love this epic game..
the arcade was at a game store near me
It was the royal rumble 2000 theme
My sisters bf at the time used to think this game was better than no mercy on 64. 😂 I disagreed then and I REALLY disagree now.
i stay peepin these
The counter counts the wrestlers YOU eliminate.
One of those wrestling games that desapoint me the most.
Only 2 modes : Versus and Royal Rumble. And there NO COMPUTER for the versus mode. So we can't play versus without human players.
Theme entrances : only 15 seconds for each.
Where are APA, Dudleys, Test, Christian, Billy Gunn, etc ? And how can the McMahons can make it tho the game when many wrestlers can't ?
We can't move outside the ring.
Well technically there was a gauntlet style tournament in the game where you played through 10 wrestlers to achieve a high score to unlock the McMahons.
Graphics look like smackdown on ps1 doesn't look bad
The arcade version is almost identical
I used to go to the mall near home & play the shit outta this game & waste all my money.... good times man
