@@juanmachado1844 bullet is a better all around fighter but styles make fights and the combination of grasso’s takedown defense, hustle in the guard, and toughness in the striking exchanges pretty much neutralized Valentina’s game. Unless Valentina mixes it up more in the rematch I think she’ll lose again.

U may be right, and her knack for attacking someone else's strength and diffusing it, backfired a bit vs SANTOS, and that may have factored in this fight as well, but she's a GOAT & she'll get a Rematch & we'll see how it goes
u may be right a bit of the Dynamite may not be there, but it may have as much to do w/ the fact GRASSO is more polished than others, be it say a MAIA or JESSICA EYE & so on plus plenty of Tape on Val to game plan; I
had a hunch based on that and her improvement, GRASSO might be overlooked & surprise people; along w/ the fact there's a "changing of the Belts" aroma in the air of late: I'm as high on BLANCHFIELD as anyone else,
but she'll have 2 tighten up the boxing vs the Rematch winner and others, which I think she'll do; Very talented: Great division w/ these 2, SANTOS, "Cold Blooded", FIOROT, King Casey, KGB Lee, etc.

      @csracingreport2024 Год назад

if there's a knock-on Val, other than the spin & being careless vs SANTOS, is not being a power puncher; GRASSO isn't a bomb thrower, but she's polished, & has some "zap' to her crack, which BLANCHFIELD will have 2 tighten up,
which she's seems capable of doing; FIOROT has hands & King Casey isn't bad, look for her to be in the mix soon; My hunch is, Win or Lose, Val will retire, not because of fear, but the investment in training & regaining the Belt,
then trying to defend multiple times for a 2nd time against, to quote you, "the young girls"... tough task, but I commend her for the long-standing brilliance since she was 14 years old.

The striking was very even and Alexa landed good shots but the wrestling was very mismatched and Alexa has to work on that and get some more muscle on her frame if she wants to have a better time in the rematch and that choke was impressive but it came from a mistake by Valentina and Alexa capitalized on it, she can't rely on Valentina making mistakes because she will wrestle a lot more in the rematch Alexa needs to get ready right away.

The 1 knock on Val is KO power, and I'm not sure she can develop it, so she will wrestle again, but I think they will work on having the "extra zap" on her strikes against a slick boxer like Alexa; investing in the ground game can
be exhausting, so both will want to wisely ration their output in both areas:
I could see Val, w/ o critical mistakes, getting her belt back; It'll be very interesting.

Nahhhh, she will be fine. AG is stronger than ya think, VS now knows this lol. She adjusted and started stuffing the takedown, she will improve there also and itll be an even tougher fight for VS on the rematch. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks, and I love VS but at some pt a fighter comes along that has your number. If one fights long enough and often, its bound to happen. VS had more damage on her after rd 1 than what Taila did to her over 5 rds.

@@peacethroughstrength172 You make good points; I think the difference is, w/ Nunes you knew she would take the Pena Rematch because she has Dynamite in her hands which disrupts game plans; Val lacks that power, which is her one flaw; even her challengers didn't
have to worry about being Knocked out; So on the Feet, unless she A, develops Power and / or B, can Chop ALEXA's leg to dull her Slick Striking and open the door 2 hit Grasso often, & succeed on the ground if needed, she's going to have issues; And, to Your Points, ALEXA has a
Long Body Line that makes her appear to be thin, but she's got some Size on her, more than @ 115, she's improved on the ground, and, minus some nerves, she's likely to be sharper, and C, because of A & B, BULLET is going to have to give ALEXA something to think about w/ her
shots, and compromise GRASSO's Lead Leg w/ kicks; From there she can inflict damage to stop her standing and / or on the ground; It's not a case of being old, Val is in great shape, its dealing w/ a fighter who's like herself: more "Polished" than her past foes; Very Smooth
Operator: Lovely to watch: I hate to see either one lose, Both Likeable Ladies; Same goes for BLANCHFIELD and the other newcomers: all very good MM Artists; Great analysis BTW

Valentina is not getting younger. The fight against Santos was not the easiest. Valentina will bounce back and she wil be more prepare for the rematch. Erin Blanchfield wil demande a title shot against Grasso... Grasso vs Blanchfield...or Santos vs Grasso...or Santos vs Blanchfield..or Blanchfield vs Valentina ...it will be very interesting.

Tough win over Santos and now a loss against Grasso. Maybe just maybe we're beginning to see the end of Valentina's career. If Valentina loses the rematch, retirement might be a reality. Great champ and great career either way.

She may Retire even if she wins the Rematch; it'll be an investment to train off a loss in an attempt to regain the Belt; and to try & defend multiple times for a 2nd time against "new challengers" is 2nd investment, which is a lot to
ask; Great fighter, absolute GOAT; and Alexa is outstanding in her own right; good boxer that's added some tools; They're Both likeable; you hate to see either one lose. Outstanding fighters; Fun to watch.

@@madgavin7568 You're probably Right; she's super dedicated and seems to have the mindset of not falling to "Gatekeeper" status & stay in the Top 2 /3: Even if she loses the Rematch, I don't think Dana would freeze her w/ a mandate to win
2,3 times to get another Title Shot; I would think 9 fight win streak w/ 7 defenses along w/ a solid career @ 135 is more than enough to warrant some respect from the UFC brass

Props to Alexa Grasso for doing a pretty good job on the striking exchanges and most especially on how fast she capitalized on Valentina's mistake, her takedown defense is a little bit off though. Valentina deserves an immediate rematch as Valentina was up on the scorecards before messing up and getting submitted, interesting to see how an immediate rematch plays out.

like NUNES Part 2, w/ the difference being ALEXA is slicker than PENA; It'll be interesting to see, in a division that's pretty deep w/ the up & comers; I think Win or Lose, Val will probably retire; it'll take a lot, coming off a loss to
try 2 train & regain the Belt, then try, for a 2nd time, to defend multiple times
for a against "fresh talent"... I tip my hat off to her for the longevity; 1st pro fight was @14 Yrs. Old: she has nothing to be ashamed of; Alexa had 2 exhibit good FIGHT IQ, and the ability to seize an opening to get the win, and she did a great job.
