Belts, or weapon sheaths would be really helpful! Thank you so greatful for this video, I'm cosplaying Male robin from Fire emblem and this is very helpful!
Almost 4 years later this is still INCREDIBLY helpful. I’m building a Link cosplay (this is my first time) and the boots were kind of intimidating at first. Random question; about how much fabric did you need to cover the boots? I’m thinking that a yard or maybe 3/4 of a yard would be plenty but I’m not sure.
These are some generic brand boots from Target - specifically from the women's section (men's section seem to lack any boots!). If the tall part of the boot is rigid, it'll typically be a bit easier to work with :)
Wow thank you. I was going crazy because I thought it would be impossible to cover real boots. So I don´t need to add a zipper at the back if I can slide my leg into it with no problem?
Sorry for the late reply! If you can slide your leg in with no problem, a zipper will be unnecessary! But, a zipper will usually make it easier to wear everytime :)
Thanks heaps! Just to clarify, are you asking about how the boots stay upright in the pictures when i'm not wearing them? Just so I could take photos, i put a large can of hairspray in each boot to hold them up! When there's no hairspray, the boot definitely can't stand up by itself!
You can try use the exact method I used here, just replace everytime I sewed something with hot glue instead. Replace the zipper with velcro (use more hot glue) and try your luck! The turnout will probably not be as nice, but if you REALLLLY hate sewing, this i probably the easiest method.
I followed a tutorial myself! But i'll be doing a complete breakdown video of the entire costume soon, so i'll be able to explain it in detail there too :)!
Yes, there should be plenty of room for the boots to slide out after sewing your first couple of lines. After pinning and marking where it needs to be tightened, you should only need to sew 1 or 2 extra lines to edit :)
If you want her to help you make stuff, be prepared to tell her what you love about it, or why you want to try it! Don't be scared to show off your passions to her :) Even if she doesn't approve, I hope you'll find a way to try out cosplay for yourself! Good luck!
I personally think this tutorial is kinda complete but I have just one question: which material is better for making boot covers? Or does it depend on the character? Which materials would you recommend me to use?
The best part about this method is that you can use pretty much any material you want! Just as long as the reverse side of the material works with hot glue (nearly all materials do!). Use whatever you think matches the rest of your outfit :)
@@mangalphantom yeah, but the point is, I don't know where to start. I'm looking for some suggestions because I'm very inexpert and advice would be more than welcome
Ideally, you'd want to be able to easily slip your foot in and out of the boot/shoe very easily. Like, no hands required kind of easy. Those are the best kinds! Otherwise, any boot with a zipper on the side/back is awesome!
I tried some simpler methods and it never ended up looking good for me 😔. This way works best for me, but lmk if you find a simpler method, would love to learn 🙏!
What tutorial would you like to see next? :D

It would have been cool to see some more prop tutorials!
I'll try document everything I make from now on! 🙌
Dimitri Blaiddyd !! i’m cosplaying female robin and hapi haha
Great and simple to follow tutorial! Also love all the pink boxes and tools you got there . VCUTE
It's okay to be jealous of my pink hot glue gun, you're not the first ;)
You literally saved me at the last second thank you so much!!
Glad I could help! I hope your boot covers turned out well!
I alwys trim a little and tuck in the edges before gluing them so i don't have to cut them off
Great idea! Probably keeps it really neat, too! 👍

I'd say 1m X 1m fabric would be sufficient for a single boot, so doing 2 boots would require around 2m? (~2.5 yards?)
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
I hope it helps! :D
Woah ^_^ thanks for showing us how to make boot cover, with your tutorial it would not be that intimidating to start out trying !!!
Give it a try! It's tricky at first but it's not so hard once you get used to it :D
This was so helpful, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial! Thanks for putting it together. What brand of boots are the ones that you used?

Awesome video. Thanks man
Glad you liked it! Hope it helps!
@@mangalphantom yes it did my good man. I appreciate you. It'll help my Rudeus Greyrat cosplay

Great and easy tutorial two and a half year later. Thanks for showing this. Just how you made it so stiff? So its not folding itself together?
Thanks heaps!

@@mangalphantom aha oki. I thougth they could stand by themself.
Is there a way to make boot covers without sewing or can u show us some cheap alternatives to boot covers

Very useful tutorial! 😇👍 could you do a tutorial on Naofumi's shield too ?
I followed a tutorial myself! But i'll be doing a complete breakdown video of the entire costume soon, so i'll be able to explain it in detail there too :)!
Mangalphantom Cosplay oh great ! That sounds even better than just a shield tutorial. I look forward to that 😍👌
I had a mini panic when you lit that lighter so close to your carpet
Don't worry, it only burnt it a little bit ;)
When sewing around the covers you do take the boots out and slide them back in right? Like when sewing tighter?
Yes, there should be plenty of room for the boots to slide out after sewing your first couple of lines.
After pinning and marking where it needs to be tightened, you should only need to sew 1 or 2 extra lines to edit :)
How can I make them removable if I don't want to ruin the boot underneath?
thank you so much for this!
did you use a specific type of fabric for this? mine keep bunching up :(
I didn't use any special fabric for this method! I've made boot covers with this method out of suede, cotton, even silk!
I’m planning on telling my mom I wanna cosplay today any tips?

How convenient, I need for my Naofumi cosplay too!
Where did you get the boots themselves??
Got them from Target! Hopefully your local department store has some boots to use!
Can't wait to see your Naofumi! :D
Anyone know the name of the boot cuff/fold when it's like that?
Do let me know if you find the name, i couldn't find it myself D:!
im pretty sure that style of boot is called ‘cavalier boots’ :)
