Dustin Brookens I’m comparing the two systems now and it’s worth mentioning that if you buy the Bluetooth module for the Castle system it evens the price. Bluetooth is important to me for on the trail adjustments. Another thing to mention is I like the quietness of the Hobbywing. I don’t care for the spaceship noises the Castle makes.
Great video man! The lack of kick that you are talking about is actually helping the tires to retain grip. I am running Justock 45A ESC and 21,5T Justock sensored motor on my Gelande 2 and until now I was convinced that nothing would beat that combo.
Just stumbled across this video, thanks for running and checking the internal BEC! Installed in my bomber, and no room for a external BEC. Aas disappoint in the acceleration ramp up, HOWEVER they have since released a new software update that gives instant throttle response, and more top speed, absolutely love it and I feel it's the best setup for a rock racer!
Magnifique travail mon ami et bonne explication merci pour la technique J adore les RC Je suis abonné de FRANCE 🇫🇷👍 Magnificent work my friend and good explanation Thank you very much for this Technik I enjoy watching your video this is a pleasure for the eyes 😎👍 I like the RC I am subscribed of France 🇫🇷👍 And I would be proud to have you as subscriber too 👍
Long time Hobbywing fanatic - nearly 50 of their ESC in the house... and this thing drives me nuts. The lack of torque control and attempt at constant velocity remove all user input and results in incredible torque on the drivetrain at times you don't want. It looks smooth in videos, but down low I still think the Mamba-X/Slate combos absolutely slay this thing. Really wish they had proper FOC or ability to disable altogether... hopefully the next revision will address these problems or provide ability to control torque.
If they do the things I asked for I’ll spend money on this, it looks smooth in videos and it’s smooth without video. I like it but it’s not at the level of a mamba X esc. Hopefully they are reading feedback all over the internet about it and will listen.
Exocaged RC I also have 2 boys pumpkin and boots pumpkin looks like dean and boots looks like that also but he had white feed and a white nose. Love your videos! Keep up the good work. I hope to have my trx 4 out again soon!
Thanks. Love cats myself as they simply go outside on their own. I’m considering putting one of these axe systems in my trx permanently as soon as they get a faster motor.
I think they can get away charging that much money because this amount of performance does not seem to be available anywhere else. Do you know of any other systems that perform this well?
Question below. But first, thanks for the video, i'm looking into maybe buying one of these. I'm also thinking about trying a sensorless outrunner system but i don't know much about them yet. You mentioned you wanted more punch from this setup. Have you played with the punch setting in the esc? It's probably in the app but the manual shows it's setting item "Start Mode (/ Punch) ". It adjusts from 1 to 9. Default is 5.
Excellent video very nice demonstration I like the motor think it would do great for crawling but would be better with a little more speed another great job sir
Yeah I’d have a slipper for sure with this. The torque ramp up seems to be very well modulated and rather mild. You can see it full stall in this video a couple times.
Exocaged RC the lack of instant punch doesn’t work for my driving style, and it feels like I can only pull the trigger back a couple mm to achieve the slow speed I want. If I pull it any further than that it seems to pick up to fast.
Hmm. The esc has a minimum speed to it and that may be what you’re getting, have you updated the firmware? The take off has always been weak but it really helps out new drivers with throttle control.
I've been holding out to buy a Holmes Hobbies system but this AXE has impressed me. I've just always thought HW was cheap Chinese crap but I don't feel like that towards the AXE.
1967illya I agree the AXE system is awesome but with the price I'm just wondering if for the money you can get more elsewhere like the Tekin ROC412HD which is cheaper?
Until this, all HW had that was good for crawling was the 1060 and 1080. They sucked for crawling on all brushless stuff. I don’t run HW in my racers either. But this esc and motor combo could be a game changer and I’ll end up with one in one of my trucks when the 3300kv motor comes out and I hope they give us a better firmware so I can get the bottom end bounce power I want. If they continue to step it up and give us one of these for sct, Ebuggy and other big trucks, LoL they may get more of my money.
Can’t speak to this system as I don’t have one, but am close to ordering. Hobbywing makes all ranges of electronics. I raced 1/10 buggies and can tell you Hobbywing ESC/motor combos are top of the line for what is worth. They make products from budget to high end IMO.
Wondering if you would recommend this system for my scale Gnom Rock Racer Buggy. Just wondering if its a good fit. Trying to decide between it and the Mamba X. Rock crawling and some light bashing is my desire.
If you want some bashing and crawling, go with a Castle Mamba X. You can set the aux wire to run crawler mode and race mode with a button on the transmitter. Plus it’s good to 6S. www.amazon.com/dp/B01MT7UG7D/?tag=exocaged01-20
yeah they are, the new Killer Bee motors from 3BRC are supposed to be quieter. All we really need is an esc that has a frequency thats out of our hearing range, then it would be quiet....to us.
Same to you. My wife is from Turkey and has lived many places on your side of the world. So I’ve picked up a few words here and there. She talks 5 languages.
Awesome test! I like all your test! And this combo is impressive! But not cheap
Too expensive IMO
Victor RC you can get better performance for less with a mamba x and slate combo
Dustin yep, nothing beats the mamba X esc. Perfect with many different motors but I do like the torque feature on this and the quietness.
Dustin Brookens yep, I have 2 mamba x with 1900 kv motor. 😀 It’s really good!👍

Very nice system, that’s some quality stuff right there brotha! Nicely done!
Absolutely great review. Well done!
Thank you, I’ll have one as soon as they make they come out with the 3300kv motor.

Shoutout to Sean for lending it to you! Awesome guy +1 for Jax RC.
Very thorough review, great job!!
Thanks for the link on fb , subd and a thumbs up
sweet video!!! so wait, it still moves even if not hitting the throttle? is there a way to make it not do that?
Cant find this axe combo with the 2300kv motor and the link isn’t working that is in description. Can you send me another link in the comments
Download the Hobbywing app and you can change the settings on the go. Its amazing!!!
Yeah I have that and it’s pretty darn nice.
Awesome test and system..
Hi I was wondering if you could explain stalling the system? new to crawling And thinking about adding the HW axe system to my axial SCX 10ii thanks
Great test! 👍👍
Love the kitty 🐱 oh and the review! Great video
Thank you, I got two boys, almost identical twins and they are named Sam and Dean from the show Supernatural. That was Dean out there with me.
Exocaged RC I also have 2 boys pumpkin and boots pumpkin looks like dean and boots looks like that also but he had white feed and a white nose. Love your videos! Keep up the good work. I hope to have my trx 4 out again soon!

Nah it will only be adequate for me. I usually run a 3800kv on 3S in mine.
Prolly the best brushless crawler combo I've seen. Hefty price tag tho....$249!!!
Yeah it’s over priced IMO
I think they can get away charging that much money because this amount of performance does not seem to be available anywhere else. Do you know of any other systems that perform this well?
I do just fine w a Hobbywing 80a esc and a Tenshock rc906 1250kv motor. Much more budget friendly and work great
What rock sliders do you use?
Those are from Scalerfab
Good review. It is very helpful.
isn't this the same set up you tested in the trx4 against the mamba x?
Nice video! You should do more videos on the tenshock brushless crawler motors!
I still have the 1750kv and 2400kv sitting in a box of motors.
Question below. But first, thanks for the video, i'm looking into maybe buying one of these. I'm also thinking about trying a sensorless outrunner system but i don't know much about them yet.

yep, I'm waiting for the 3300kv version with the firmware update before I spend my money on one.
What beadloc rims are those
cheap alloy beadlocks from ebay
Hi, my 2300km Axe foc combo motor need new bearings. Can you help me with the spec or size of those bearings ? Thanks
Did you get new bearings yet? Have you tried contacting hobbywing? I bet they know the size
@@Jrod_FPV Yes they gave me the size of the bearing wich is 5x13x4 mm I ordered some Rubber Sealed (Blue)
looks like a great system if you run as long as you run a slipper. My trans is locked and I'd probably break parts with the Axe.
Yeah I’d have a slipper for sure with this. The torque ramp up seems to be very well modulated and rather mild. You can see it full stall in this video a couple times.
Same system that's in the gen 8?
Very smooth 👍
What pinion/spur are you running? I just ordered this system.
This truck has the newer axial transmission in it so it has the 56t spur and a 13t pinion. 32 pitch
I’d love to see the settings you have on the esc.
I actually have a video, I think its the Mamba X vs Axe where I show a screenshot of the Axe settings
Exocaged RC thanks. I’ve been running the axe for a minute now, but don’t love it haha
What don’t you like about it?
Exocaged RC the lack of instant punch doesn’t work for my driving style, and it feels like I can only pull the trigger back a couple mm to achieve the slow speed I want. If I pull it any further than that it seems to pick up to fast.
Hmm. The esc has a minimum speed to it and that may be what you’re getting, have you updated the firmware? The take off has always been weak but it really helps out new drivers with throttle control.
Sweet test! Can the Mamba X crawl this slow too?
Yes, it just requires a bit more driver ability
@@ExocagedRC awesome! Thank you!!

from what I've seen, I'd be more likely to break parts with the axe system cause i dont run a slipper and wouldn't be able to tell when it's in a bind
Did you know use the bec in the trx4 or did you use the esc to power all that!
The RCBrothers G13 servo in the TRX4 was powered directly off the battery
So how did you show us how to install it it’s a decent review but it’s not an install video
Wondering if you would recommend this system for my scale Gnom Rock Racer Buggy. Just wondering if its a good fit. Trying to decide between it and the Mamba X. Rock crawling and some light bashing is my desire.

Nice review 👍🏻
Thanks
Waauw amazing!
how is it driving with no throttle input?
I used throttle trim to make it drive to show how the esc will keep it moving under load without further input from the driver.
@@ExocagedRC thanks man. This is what I did to test the same thing. Just wasnt sure if there was some cruise control I wasnt aware of
4:23 Thank you because I was thinking, “My AXE is silent what the hey...?”
Great vid. Did you use a 2s or 3s?
D 3S is all my scalers
Is that a savox servo I hear?
No sir that is a Hitec 7950 making all that noise. It sure does sound like a Savox with the drive motor being so quiet
i love my revolver motor but it is loud af
yeah they are, the new Killer Bee motors from 3BRC are supposed to be quieter. All we really need is an esc that has a frequency thats out of our hearing range, then it would be quiet....to us.
This with the traxxas tx and rx set to a trx4 with cruise control would be epic lol
yes it would, it would never stop
Haha south Georgia/ north Florida problems! No rocks so we gotta use concrete!
LoL yep!!

Nice and very strong but slow 🙄
Just got word new firmware and 3300kv motor are coming. So yeah they’ll be getting some of my money. LoL.
dont care about brushless
