Why? He sucked in this game...he sucked in just about every big game he was ever in which weren't many. He would have sucked in that Superbowl as well!
He was pretty good, much better than Vick IMO because McNabb was an actual passer. What hurt McNabb is consistency, especially early in his career. If he had the brain that he had in 2006-2008 with the teams he had from 2000-2004, he probably would have won a SB. His problem is while he had one of the best arms in the league and a great deep ball, and he was usually good with turnovers, but he would get into stretches where his accuracy would be off.
@@NYG5 I agree because I think the other knock to his HOF credentials is being under 60% completion for his career (although no one cares about that with Marino.) It's funny because you can see shades of the modern day Chiefs offense in some of these Eagles teams. People don't like to talk about it, but McNabb was doing a bunch of the stuff Mahomes is doing today (roll out shovel passes into the LOS, extending plays, throwing without planting his feet, etc.) I'm not an Eagles fan but I do think he deserves more respect in the HOF conversations.
FSU BOI The Bucs were the first team to completely shut Vick down twice in a season in 2002. Derrick Brooks spied him and did not let him out of his sight.
I remember watching this game with my best buddy from Philly too...we grew up in Florida..we were seniors in Highschool and pasted eagles stuff all over our principals office who was a Pats fan haha...I'm glad they finally got one from NE I was happy to see Andy win a SB too. I know he wanted to win one in Philly more than anything. Him and his family went through so much with this Organization and for so many years.
That Eagles team should have been our first Super Bowl team. Also who else just remembered how much of a dog Brian Finneran was back in the day? And Michael Lewis?
5:43 what a hit!!! Man thats how they should hit all the time! Dawkins a scary man. Never seen that hit before, and went back like 4 times to rewatch it.
The MVP of this game was Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson. The Falcons had the league's #1 rushing offense that season thanks to Vick, and Johnson bottled them up with a simple strategy: he flip-flopped his defensive ends (putting the more athletic Jevon Kearse on Vick's stronger left side) and asked them to focus on containment instead of outright pressure. As a result, we saw Vick escape into the open field only once the entire game. It was a brilliant job of knowing his personnel and game planning accordingly.
I wanted to see one of those Eagles teams win a Super Bowl with Andy Reid as the Head Coach and Donovan McNabb at Quarterback. It was good to see them at least get over the NFC Title Game hump in 2004. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
And Duce Staley was overused imo. He had 1 or 2 like big runs per game and then he'd get like 10 for the rest of the game. Oh well that's Fraudy Reid for ya.
@@Phinal_Flash yea...Reid just admitted on Colin that he threw the ball too much back then...and also two many 7 step drops...lots of stress on the Oline, which was built for the run..

Best dual threat ever in his prime I think. Can Newton is a QB built like a tight end that can also run and is still hard to bring down. I think Cam is a better passer than Vick though.
