I think this is the one faction from Star Wars that could actually hold its own in against the Imperium, at least for a little while. Especially if they had access to hyperspace and and the Imperium didn't. I know you can't really compare the Warp and the Force, but I think the Sith would at least be pretty successful in turning large swaths of the Galaxy to their side. Not to mention their power would most likely be greatly enhanced since the Sith would be in an entire Galaxy of unimaginable suffering.
