How to Setup Eco Tech Day and Night Dimming Reptile Thermostat (Step-by-Step)

- In this video I show step-by-step how to set up your Eco Tech Day and Night Dimming thermostat. I use a Phillips 100 watt flood light from Bunnings as my heat lamp.
Where I live, in Summer, the 100 watt heat lamp running at full capacity would be too hot for my beardie, however, with the thermostats built in dimming function, the light is dulled down and is never running at full capacity. If I turn my air conditioning on, it will run the light closer to it's full capacity to heat the basking area up to 40 degrees. This is what is great about the dimming function.
There is another version of this thermostat called the Eco Tech Day and Night thermostat, and it does not have the dimming function. Instead of dimming the heat lamp, it will switch the heat lamp on-and-off to maintain the temperature. If it's constantly turning on and off it can blow your bulb, and it can be difficult to maintain a stable temperature. If possible, try to get the one with the dimming feature. If you're using a ceramic heater instead of a globe, the dimming feature isn't necessary.

No worries, I'm glad you found it helpful 😄
Thank you so much for this! I had no idea how to work this thing!!! 😅
I'm glad you found it helpful!!
Thank you.
Nice ❤❤❤
Thanks you so much ❤️
No worries!!
THANK YOU SOO MUCH. I've been looking for a video forever!! I'm having trouble with turning the alarm off for some reason. And the screen shows AL? Could you be of any help please? :((
Thank you…..
Hey thanks for this video, mine keeps flashing AL even when the alarm is off? Any ideas ? Thanks
Hey Kaity,
I really appreciate the video, it's great! Do you know if it is fine to plug in multiple heat or light items through a powerboard into each socket? I assume it would be as long as you stay below the wattage.
Hi Aaron, no worries, I'm glad you find it useful :) I'm honestly not too sure about that. I think it would be fine for the UVB as long as you didn't exceed maximum wattage, because it's essentially just working as a timer system. I'm not too sure about the dimming system for the heat lamps though
Is there light-timer dimming for dimming the UVB or basking bulbs to ramp up and ramp down? This simulates sunrise and sunset and would be really good for crepuscular species like leopard geckos.
It won’t let me set the other timers to the same time.
Hi, does anyone know if you can get this with type f plug as i live in europe?
Hi sorry I’m just wondering why when I hold down set it goes to set temp value rather than day? Is it because mine is a temp + timer rather then day / night dimming + timer? Mine says day and night I just can’t get to it.
Hi Nerfie, I'm not too sure why that might be There are definitely two versions though of the timers which could be the issue
Hey Nerfie. I have this same problem and it’s doing my head in. Did you find a solution? I use to be able to get to day/night but now can select that function. Halp
@@adultbracesdid you figure it out? I'm having the same issue
Thank you! Was able to set the temp and timer, but I'm having the same problem as someone else. I can see the option on the screen for day/night temp, but it never highlights. I keep pressing set and it just jumps over it like it's not an option but I can see it there! Trying to set it up so that it runs by itself when I go away but I don't want the alarm to go off that it's not hot enough at night?!
mines skipping over day/night too, did you ever figure it out?
With the alarm what happens when it goes off, do you just click ok if it goes off or?
Hey Ben! Sorry, I completely missed your comment. From memory I think you just have to acknowledge it by unlocking the device and it turns off
What basking light do you use thanks a lot .
I use a 120W Phillips flood light :)
I am really struggling to set my thermostat up 😭
When it regulatate your heat does it turn the light on and off?
This one is the dimming version, so it only dims it rather than turning it on and off
How do you set the dimming function?
the lights don't dim - the heat lamp does as it essentially provides more or less electricity to maintain the correct temperature
When i set the time on the device the time doesnt start to go up
Do you mean that the digital clock is frozen? Or when you are setting the time, and pressing the upwards arrow to change the time, it's not responding?
Hi I can't put my temperature up at all . It just stays on 29deg.
Hi Selahattin, do you mean that when you try to set the temperature you can’t change it to anything other than 29 degrees? Or do you mean the thermostat is measuring 29 degrees, but it’s meant to be higher?
@@Kaityscichlids I mean I can't change it to anything other then 29 degrees. It's so frustrating lol
@@selahattindagli1939 That's so strange... I'm not too sure why that would be, I'm sorry I can't be of more help. It sounds like there may be some type of fault with it. Let me know if you figure out what the issue is
@@Kaityscichlids ok will do . Thank you for your help and replying to me so quick
