This is what Marvel SHOULD have done. By order of the president in Secret Invasion, there has been a declaration of war with all off worlders. So Red Hulk is forced to lead a team of every antagonist that was ever put in The Raft (Abombination, Diamondback, Zemo, and Hellcat) along with Punisher and Ghost Rider from Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. against all the citizens of New Asgard, with Valkyrie being their primary target, wiping out all of Thor’s closest allies and setting up the far darker tone they want Thor 5 to have. Just after they killed all the named characters maybe have Thor and Love be summoned at the end to kill some of the more expendable members and forcing the other Thunderbolts to retreat. Forcing Thor to finally accept his responsibility as king, to give Thor more to protect and the Avengers to call upon when Hercules brings the war of the gods to Earth in Thor 5.
