people don't like my videos and I don't care - I'm never gonna sell out 🤣 but I do enjoy analytics, these guys know what they are talking about - RUclips's not luck.
Thank you for sharing your analytics. My recent videos are around 5-6% CTR so I think I'll keep trying to improve. My AVD is also horrible: 10-25%. I need to fix that
Look at the tab that shows where people are not watching and try to figure out what they didn't like, what they decided to skip. See if you can find a pattern.
I was baking and listening/watching this and I really like how it feels like a small form and structured episode of a longer podcast, great freeflow with the commentary and it's always such a treat to hear you guys go in depth with these things. I wholeheartedly agree with the intro point you made Bill, while I always make a conscious effort to never skip any of your guys intros. (which are the better ones tbh) *A* lot of youtubers I watch from time to time struggle to make intro's that feel less like an introduction and more like a complete roadblock. On the topic of analytics a question I have is. How do you guys use the gender, age, location, etc estimates of your viewers and does it influence your content creation in any big ways? For example is it better to hyper focus what works for the current demographic or to use those analytics to find the gaps and try and broaden the demographic?
Honestly that information is really used more by the brands that you work with. So they will have a certain demographic that they want to try to sell to, and they'll reach out to RUclips channels and ask for that information, to see if your audience is the right audience for them.
@@BillFairchild That makes a lot of sense but would you say that you have not used those analytics yourself when making content? It's still interesting to know if it really doesn't influence content creation :)
I'm new to scripting, most of my videos up until recently were off the cuff, nothing pre-written. I've started using scripting more, and I feel like it does help. One thing I will say is create a micro-hook. Something you can mention that you'll "get to later" and then pay it off after a bit.

Correct, I don't use that information, outside of dealing with brands.
9/10 I'll be happy with it
But look at why it’s a 9/10 and see what you can do if anything.
How do you guys script your videos for retention?
