After hearing all that we have on the creation of this game, I’m throughly convinced that the Halo 2 Bungie team was the greatest group of game developers ever assembled.
It’s unfortunate that the engine had to be scrapped and they didn’t get enough time. I get their ambition and would’ve loved to see their full product.
Reminds me of my old home, sun shining through my open blinds, on the second floor, the og xbox booting on in the morning with this playing along with my orange juice or water in a glass on the tabletop where my tv was. Playing halo 2 with my cockatiel on my shoulder, blasting co-op or multiplayer with my dad or cousins. Good times
I love how much attitude Halo 2 had. Like the moment you start up the game it’s like “Listen up fucker! Time to dual wield SMGs and kick Covenant ass!”
Just like that, it’s 2004 again…. I’m 21 years younger, I’m not worried about money, paying bills or my health, I can play Halo 2, then play with my friends on LAN, and eat as many snacks as I want at the same time! The good old days, I wish I’d been taught about nostalgia back in school to prepare myself for it later in life!
TravisReyn0lds yes exactly the same for me, halo 4 was bad campaign wise and halo 5 was ok, but halo 4 ... that whole game was an intro, i hate that kinda stuff. ut was just like force awakens, except worse
Its 343i who took over now. Bungie left microsoft after making the last good halo game: Halo Reach. Before 343 industries took over and now it's horrible *I take back what I said about 343 taking over and its horrible, it's fucking awesome now*
If you haven't seen the 27 minute long video of Steve Vai messing with his guitar in the studio where he comes up with this on a whim, please go and find it. I don't know who the genius camera man is but there is actual footage of this legendary sound being made in real-time and its beautiful.
The intro I saw Everytime I came home from kindergarten in the early 2000's, the second you saw this intro, you knew this was gonna be an amazing game and it was
What a badass intro, I had totally forgotten it. I remember getting home after school and starting the old Xbox, this music was the promise of a great night with my friends. Best online game ever.
Christmas 2004 I will never forget the feeling of opening a present with Halo 2 inside at 10 years old. I miss that feeling, it’s not the same downloading a new release game these days.
i came here to calm down to those riffs back when bungie were a team who truly devote their time and effort into creating their games! god they were so proud!
normally, i skip intros with company logos and stuff like that, but this, this is just different and on another level, the introduction and the music is so good it would be a hell of a sin to skip it, heck im even searching for it cause i love that electric quitar part.
I remember when i was a kid and got an Xbox along with this game. Vividly remember turning the console on for the first time, pit the disc in and letting it boot. When this intro hit i got shivers. Still do. Love this intro so much.
I only heard this at my godmothers house where she had an old Xbox in 2009 I was 5 year old boy and when I heard this the mjolnir mix and blow me away by breaking Benjamin this ensured my love of halo and early 2000’s hard rock love this!
I legitimately almost cry watching this now. So much nostalgia. So much greatness. This was my first Halo game back in the day. It truly is one of the greatest video games of all time. Heart❤
I remember being 4 years old, playing with my brother, hearing the main menu song. Ahh, thank you, 343, despite all your f’ ups, for rejuvenating Halo with the MCC. I’d love to have the original menus playing in the background, but I still have my original H2 game.
Came to listen to this master piece again after halo 2’s 20th anniversary not to long ago and I’m reliving ever but if nostalgia from such an amazing time in gaming history 🙏
To me I think that this is the best bungie intro there ever is, the other bungie intros in the other halo games were no better than this one. Thumbs up if you agree
The moment this song comes on I think back to the times I spent at my grandparents cabin in Maine, My cousin left his original Xbox downstairs in the basement and once I played the first mission of Halo 2 i was a fan.
I seriously forgot this intro existed, but I saw a picture of it on Reddit again and had to watch it. Instant goosebumps. I really miss my childhood, so many great memories :,)
MAN I played Halo 2 since i was a kid and i loved this game and now i still play it on the halo master chief collection which now they have the nostalgic halo games on mcc
Their five Halos were truly legendary. I rarely love all games in a series, but these (Bungie's) fit that bill more than any other. Best game series. Best developer. Best memories. Best childhood. ❤❤❤

That first millisecond of realization that you are about to play something legendary, still hits like thunder.

Just beautiful...like I remember it from early 2005 when I first played Halo 2 🥲 They just don't make great video game soundtracks like they used to!
Sometimes I’d restart my Xbox if I accidentally skipped this intro

This opening clip is orders of magnitude more epic than the 12 years of excrement 343i have produced.
