  • Great news. Our tabby cat named Mason has returned. This cat has been missing for a month during a very harsh winter. We also have a pair of owls that live near our yard and have been catching many things and eating them this winter. Just after I posted a video telling about how our cat has gone missing for a month, Mason shows up in the street. Karen noticed him and I called his name and he came running and meowing live never before. I cannot believe this cat survived this very harsh winter for a month. We think that he got shut in a shed or garage somewhere by accident and got free and came home. He has no injuries or fleas. He has no sign of frostbite and his fur is very clean. Even though he has used three of his nine lives, this cat will never die. He is very malnourished and we are nursing him back to health. This has been a very hard emotional roller coaster for us because we were sure he did not survive and we were ready to say goodbye to him and just wished at least we knew where his body was. It is a true cat miracle that he came home alive. I am so very thankful for this little cat. He thinks he is an outdoor cat because he lived outside the first 6-8 weeks of his life and he is our rescue cat. We rescued him from the outdoors as a kitten and have all the videos since the day we found this cat in the playlist named Mason. He is not street (cat) smart so we do everything we can to keep him inside. This cat once was lost but now is found. Please write a comment below and remember to give a thumbs up or thumbs down. I want to know what my viewers like.

      I had several cats disappear for about a week (on two separate occasions) and then come back like Mason. Brian 3 I almost didn’t click on the video. It’s just beyond me that people still let their pets outside period much less in less than stellar weather conditions. When I was little my grandfather left a puppy outside out of ignorance and it froze to death. I’ve never let any fur kid I’ve ever owned outside without monitoring, especially my cats.

    • @jpwjr1199
      @jpwjr1199 4 года назад +3

      @@LeviTate2000 It's true. Really, if you keep your cats in during weather that's colder than say 35F and make sure they're in before 9pm or so and stay in until daylight (that's the key, most cats get into the most trouble outside between like 2 and 6am in the winter and 12 and 6am in the summer), they usually don't get trapped or lost and if neutered tend not to fight much (obviously if your cat fights all the time, just keep him or her inside). At night after a certain hour I put my big keyboard (musical instrument) in front of my front door and that keeps my cat from smacking the door to let her out. She figures out she can't go out then, and it's not an issue. During the day she stays out of mischief by and large. If the weather dips too much I won't let her out, either, because she'll eventually go into a shed or garage, and I don't need that.
      Anyway, I'm glad this kitty came back and is safe.

      @@jaeshasway That's so sad. My ex's dad wouldn't allow animals in the house. They had an old German Shepherd that would sleep on the porch and one winter night was especially cold. He and his sister begged him to let the dog inside for the night but the stubborn @$$ wouldn't allow it. They found poor old Duke under the car, probably in and attempt to keep warm, frozen to death. It was one of the saddest stories I'd ever heard. I don't think he ever forgave his dad for it.

    • @KatarinaS.
      @KatarinaS. 4 года назад

      @Vlodec Depends upon your perspective. Many Vets would disagree with you. Indoor cats are much healthier and live longer, as long as they're fed appropriately and get plenty of play and stimulation, allowed supervised outdoor play or time in a catio. Letting cats out to attack and kill song birds for sport would seem like an act of cruelty to some people, as would letting cats out to be brutally attacked by other animals, hit by cars, or to catch communicable diseases. Again, it depends upon how you look at it and what you consider cruel.

    • @KatarinaS.
      @KatarinaS. 4 года назад

      @Vlodec That would be one perspective. I wouldn't compare cats to humans, it's not the same thing. We can look both ways before crossing the street and avoid a lot of bad situations when we go out using our higher brains (of course, some people don't, but that's another story). When you think about it then, keepng pets at all for our enjoyment is cruel. Perhaps all animals should be allowed to be wild then, and not kept locked up by humans, taught to obey us, forced to be sexually mutilated, and fed suboptimal diets.
      My petite 6lb tabby was a stray that we took in after about 5 months of continuously hanging around our place, obviously not having another home for whatever reason. The first couple of years we allowed her out whenever she wanted because that's where she came from and felt bad keeping her in. One night I let her out before bedtime, it was summer and I left the slider open, and after a few minutes I heard a bloodcurdling screach. I ran to the door and called her name until she came running in like a bat outta Hell, totally freaked out. She hid under some furniture, had bloody spots on her paw, neck, and ear, and did nothing but sleep for about a week, except defecate and eat a little. She didn't seek our companionship as she usually does, she just laid there lethargic. The vet said she was OK physically, she was just in a state of shock. It took her a couple of months to get back to her old self. We never let her out again unsupervised. We have pet gates that we use on our large front porch and back porch in summer and she goes out everyday to watch people and animals go by, we have 2 cat trees in windows on opposite sides of the house and a variety of toys for her, cat nip and scratch mats, and we play with her daily. We have a leash and take her on short walks or set up the pet gate on the lawn and we sunbathe while she explores.
      So that's my perspective based on my experience, which changed after a terrifying incident. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know, but I can't allow her, especially now at about 14 years old and so petite, to go out and fend for herself after what happened, plus now, in the last year, she's become deaf. I'd never forgive myself if something bad happened. I know many people with indoor/outdoor cats, I even pet sit for them, and I don't tell them what to do, unless they ask my opinion. I'm not telling you or anyone else what to do, you have every right to do with your pets as you please, I'm just sharing my perspective and how it changed from being more like yours.

I got a cat who was outdoor and guess what he didn't like it, and I still kept him inside and 1 year later he forgot the outside and he does not ask to be outside. He must be trained, and also my cat I'm always careful with the door so he does not get out ever. If you keep them inside and are careful with the door problem solved. GPS collar definitely do that if u can't train him inside.

    My cat - before he was MY cat - was once trapped in our rarely used garage for probably 2 weeks. He was a stray, probably abandoned by someone else, that we were feeding. We didn‘t think much about him not showing up for two weeks as strays do that.
    Strangely, he didn‘t meow for many many days. Our garage was warm and safe and there was even a bowl of water in it for some reason. Only when he was really starting to starve, he did meow, so we could notice. Again, we never used that garage and he wasn‘t our cat. But we adpoted him afterwards and he became a indoor cat.

    I am positive Mason heard your heart calling and responded. At 12 years, my little dog had a stroke that completely paralyzed her. Her eyes were still bright and she ate and drank by syringe. Vet told me I needed to put her down if no improvement in 10 days. On day 10 I looked into her eyes and told her to move a bit or my heart would break. I lay beside her and my tears wouldn't stop, suddenly she lifted her head just a bit. I danced for joy knowing she had heard me. She made a full recovery.

    Frosty, you are absolutely right about cats who have lived outside. They OFTEN refuse to be kept inside and will seize any opportunity to escape. It’s pretty much impossible to keep a cat inside who is bent on escaping. I just accept that my cat is an indoor/outdoor cat, and every time he goes out might be the last time I see him. I love him with all my heart, but he needs to go out to be happy.

      They were far less concerned with feeding the poor cat and much more with making a video to grow their channel. Before he even let him in the door he went to grab his camera to make sure he had a video. The cat still has his collar on, it makes me wonder if he was indeed lost or if the entire thing was staged. If you have a beloved animal that is lost for over a month, do you go and grab a camera or do you go take care of your pet? Most people in that situation would be in tears and run to feed him and make sure he's okay, take him to the vet. These people seem unconcerned. But they got their video and their target audience seems to like it.

    • @wayneessar7489

      To much or the wrong food for a cat that has been starving is bad.
      There livers get damaged in times of no food.
      Please do a little bit of research before assuming these folks are anything but kind and good pet owners.

    • @Kyarrix
      @Kyarrix 4 года назад

      @@wayneessar7489 I'm afraid not. If your cat has been missing for a month what is your first response? Do you leave him outside while you run to get a camera in order to make a video to upload to youtube? Or do you tend to it's needs first? Why are you defending the channel, is it because you are a true believer also? I have doubts as to whether the cat was even missing at all. There is a whole lot of praise Jesus and no critical thought. You want to believe something so you make up reasons to believe it. Why don't you examine the evidence instead? he somehow knows that the cat will be returning such that he has time to take a video. Doesn't feed the cat or pick it up to make sure it's okay. No concern is expressed it all. His wife doesn't seem surprised. This adds up to something odd. Once again, if your cat goes missing for a month be honest as to how differently you would react. Leave Jesus out of it.

    at owners who've had an outside, independent, or semi-feral cat will understand it wasn't your fault he got out. It's surprising that his collar is still on. -- Yes, feed him broth, liquids, don't overfeed, but he looks like he can handle moist food and likely kibble, dry food. He'll need a vet checkup in case of parasites and so on, and maybe meds and a special diet, but basically, he looks healthy enough to handle solid food and not restrict his eating. They have minds of their own. Good he's back, collar and all. A GPS collar and chipping are both good ideas for him, since he's prone to wander. Glad things turned out OK. Don't blame yourselves; no need to feel ashamed. Good he's safe and sound and home again. Love and good food and water and shelter, he'll build back OK. He might be less prone to wander after this. Maybe. Bless you for caring. I put out a flyer for one of the strays that came around after the first one and expected the second would've a home, an owner. No responses after 8 days. He is going to the vet for a checkup, soon as possible. It surprised me not to get any replies. -- Mason is lucky to have a good home.

    If he goes missing again, do you know that emptying contents of your hover and hang it on washing line (or branch on garden tree) and unwashed clothes of family , sends scent outto help them find their way home. Works a treat. Chips help immensely! It is worth every penny! A driver in my district found a cat under the hood of a van(they go under there to warm up) that had travelled in for 100 miles, I'm shocked you don't have all your animals chipped.
