Stay-at-home-daughter Chi is suddenly forced to fend for herself when her parents die in a car crash. Chi learns she will only inherit the house on condition she completes a list of 'Things You Should Have Done' left in the parents' will, the first of which is, ironically, learn to drive.

Lucia, I just came to tell you I LOVE YOUR SHOW and I think you are an incredibly gifted young lady! (You'll have to forgive me as this is quite a long message below but I hope you read it)…
So a few weeks ago I randomly tuned in to the first episode not expecting too much from it, but I was immediately in hysterics! Wow. I then immediately had to re-watch episode 1 because it was so incredibly funny. Every episode is SO funny and SO re-watchable, some of it is simply genius.
I'm not really a fan of modern comedy (or modern TV in general) but your show really captivated me in a big way. To me, it's worthy to feature on a timeline of comedy greats along with Alan Partridge and The Office. (I'm not saying it's "Office good" but it is very very good.)
Honestly, I love "Mandy" and thought that show was a breath of fresh air. I adore Diane, but with all due respect to her, I would say "Things You Should Have Done" is in a whole different league, in terms of social awareness, depth of character, understated nuance, emotional resonance, your playfulness, artistry and innovation of storytelling… and just plain cleverness, with a real sense of heart that is absent from so many comedy shows.
The kitchen table scene in ep6 where Karen gives Dave a hard time over his recycling!! One of the most insanely ironic pieces of comedy I've ever seen LOL
I absolutely adore the entire ensemble, everyone is just brilliant and so perfectly cast. I feel like I need all those people in my life. I want to move in with you all! You are so cruel to those characters and some bits were truly heart breaking. It's all so tragic but that's why it's funny. Jamie's gut-wrenching emotional performances were truly moving. Daniel is astounding. Selin is simply a wicked talent. Are you sure these people are even actors? Did you just find the real characters on the street?
Oh and GARY! OMG I adore Gary/Steve. When he didn't appear in episode 2 I was gutted to think he was just a "one-off"… only to be overjoyed when he reappeared later! If you do another season please don't under-use Gary, a gem of a character. I'd love to see the poor guy get a break eventually ha ha ha. I LOVE the positive ending and bonding at the end of ep6 - hoping you'll always keep the ending optimistic and warm. Oh and WHAT a title sequence! My goodness that title sequence is a work of art.
And the "opera" moment, wow! The commitment to the character. And Sarah actually referring to chi as a comedy character within the show. All just so rich and dynamic and clever and refreshing.
Now whether it was intentional or not, I actually think your show deals with grief and tragedy in an excellent way that pushes boundaries. I'd like to think Chi is more than just a dumb character and that, in fact, her "insanity", apathy, and casual imagining of her parents is reflective of the inner confusion that can hit us all when our life is torn apart. She's kind of checking out because it's hard to process, and indeed it's hard for us as viewers to process her tragedy.
In episode 1, the tragedy is just a "gag", but by episode 6 after getting to know this girl and her family, then we remember the drawing on the wall and see the tea cups, it all starts to hit really hard. So to my eyes Chi is not just a dumb character - and her recklessly stepping in front of Gary's car-to me-symbolises an inner hurt. Maybe that wasn't the idea, but it's how I read it!
Well I could write so much more but better wrap this up. I just think you're amazing! I wasn't aware of your YT channel but will be checking it out. The impressions are awesome, of course! I really hope the show gets picked up for more series (or even a few Pancake Day specials).
Humbly, I have 4 minor suggestions...
*1) Chi shouldn't be mean*
I didn't like Chi taking Gary's watch - I'd rather Chi always be a sympathetic character and it be left to other characters to be heartless and inflict misery on others.
*2) Imaginary characters music*
I love the scenes with the "imaginary little characters" though perhaps they could be made stronger with a distinctive recurring musical motif - some fun, silly little catchy tune? I just feel the almost 4th-wall-breaking surrealness of these moments could do with being more punctuated and set apart, perhaps with a change of lighting too, just to acknowledge that "we're in weirdville right now"? Or maybe those kind of "boundaries" are too conventional for this show!? :D
*3) Show title*
Too late to change, but I'm not terribly keen on the show's actual title. It failed to grab my attention in the TV listing, nor reflect how quirky the show is. (I would have called the show "OK… so?")
*4) Styling*
I have to say, Selin always looks amazing on this show without looking too "made up". As for Chi, I love the bold utter rejection of hair and makeup. On the other hand, I saw you in an interview and you looked gorgeous which made me think it would actually be lovely to see Chi with hair styling and a touch of makeup (costumes can remain as ghastly as you like). Yeah I know this character is the antithesis of a "leading character", but I'd love her to look just a little more polished and iconic, and I do think it's possible for a girl to look both pretty and socially odd. A subtle middle ground could be found which doesn't betray the character. I thought the bun worked well, if too severely pinned. It would be nice to see the hair down, perhaps with a smaller bun, some quirky hair band, or a goofy lop-sided hairstyle no one has ever tried before? Just some thoughts!
Anyway, thank you, Lucia, for this amazing show! Oh and the moment when Gary "sees" Chi's parents is SUBLIME. To call these things "funny" doesn't do them justice, it's creative excellence. Your writing is either genius or insanity.
