I have 3 of them! They were given to me from my aunt's ex. Even as a little kid I said, "No way am I spending this!" 😂 I loved this documentary. Brilliant work, sir! 💕
I started giving out two dollar bills a few months ago and the first guy I gave one to gave me a long story about how he got his other one and that he's going to keep it next to his other. Made his day. Another $2 bill out of circulation though lol
I found a 2 dollar bill when I was about 10 or 11 years old under my friends steps. I showed it to my friends dad “here look what I found under your steps”. His dad said hold up a second. Walked to the kitchen grabbed a pair of scissors and cut it in half. WTF? 2 dollar bills are bad luck he said. So I carry 2, 2 dollar bills. To change my luck of course!
I’ve got a band(100) of them. Just ask the bank to order some. They came freshly printed from the Dallas FW factory. Series 2017A. I also have 6 red seals stashed away. I love collecting bills. They’re like art. I have one from every county in the world. I even have some old colonial Pennsylvania money from 1775.
Just a few seconds ago I finished watching this, including the extra credits scenes, felt like an entire day but I'll never regret watching, I recently got into money again (July 19th 2022) and this was great! I was more into coins rather bill's but I like bills more now (especially 2 dollar bills) I'm pretty sure I have like 3 or 2 2 dollar bills.(one is a red seal) I got into it the first time in 2018 when I took a picture of a 100 dollar bill my grandma was going to pay a bill with before she left. Going to pass down 2 dollar bills to my family if I get more. 10/10 documentary!
The last red seal (U.S. Note) currency consisted of Series 1966 Five Dollar and One Hundred Dollar notes. Since that time all have been (green seal) Federal Reserve Notes, which had been introduced with Series 1914.

What a great documentary! Someone gave me nine of them a few days ago when I bought a book for a buck and gave the cashier a twenty. She said that's all the change she had at the moment. I couldn't believe it as I had been thinking only a couple of days before how much I'd like to have another $2 bill; hadn't seen one in years. I spent one because it had writing on it, gave one to my aunt who had never had one, and am keeping the other seven for myself. They were actually among the last of 'U.S. Notes' as United States Notes, which were direct descendants of the original Series 1862 'Legal Tender Notes', were last issued in 1966 with 'red seal' Series 1963A $2, Series 1966 $5 and $100. All U.S. currency since has been in the form of Federal Reserve Notes, first issued as Series 1914.
When I lived in Vietnam I noticed a lot of people had $2 bills in their wallets. They too were under the impression that they were rare. The last time I went back to VN my wife took a bunch of them and $1 coins. She made a nice profit. 😆
Thank you! It was amazing to meet Myrta and have the chance to capture her story. It's a segment I am really proud of, and she said it served the honor of her husband well.
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary yeah, I tend to like our older currency a little more. Though the current $2 bill is the best in my opinion out of modern currency.
I won a $2 bill at an arcade in Myrtle beach with my daughter few years back this was her first time at an arcade and we played almost everything I was so happy when I won that $2 bill I kept it in my wallet because it meant a lot for me because of my daughter. Sadly about 9 months back I was robbed and the $2 bill was taken also. That $2 was worth more then the $160 I had in my pocket.
Sad story but great story as it relates to the importance of the $2 bill. In making this film, I met so many people who came upon a $2 bill of their own in a memorable way, and cherished it the way you did. It has that effect, and I hope that point got communicated in my movie. Thanks for sharing.
I accumulated a collection of all 20th Century series of $2 bills. Here are two quotes to expect if you use them: "How dare you pass a $2 bill in the presence of a lady!" or a woman saying, "I couldn't possibly spend a $2 bill in public. Do I look autistic?"

Close to 20 years ago, WalMart was helping with an Easter fundraiser for the Children's Miracle Network. For $6, you could buy a crisp new 2003 $2 bill, in a paper diecut folder with a sort of COA and everything packaged in a nice blue envelope. Each bill had had a diecut bunny or ducky placed neatly over Jefferson's portrait. And the cashiers were promoting them as an authentic variation printed by the US Government (wrong!). I was a coin collector and didn't know very much about paper currency. I was suckered and bought seven of them! Oh well, I've still got those 2003 series $2 bills with their packaging. They must be worth $2 apiece by now. And, I supported the charity.
Yeah, you got suckered! But if it's for charity, it can never be wrong. Good keepsake since you still have them in the same state as you got them. Kudos.

This is the most intriguing and interesting documentary . I love the Lazy 2 of 1875, 1886 Silver Certificate., these are some absolutely beautiful bills 😅 These artist who created the designs were talented. I wonder if I can purchase the puzzles with the two dollar bill.
The puzzle in the film - I gave it to Michael Skourtes, the collector who appears toward the end. But it was simple to make - there is a company online that you can send any image to, and they make a puzzle out of it. Just Google it, upload a $2 bill photo, choose how many pieces in the puzzle, and you'll have yourself a puzzle in a few weeks.
I was at a walmart one time when the machine gave me a series of $1 bills and the one before that would have had 5 of the same digit. I tried chasing who I thought was the last customer to try and get that note and almost got hit by a car in the parking lot!

@@takecare5077 Quite correct. An oversight / error on my part. Sacajawea Dollars were introduced in 2000 with a Cheerios Promotion and distribution through Post Offices, in 2007 the Sac became 'Native American Dollars' with an annual change of reverse.
No idea. They should be out there by now. It may take some time for them to start getting circulated. They go to the banks first, then they have to get into consumer's hands. Could be a little while before they get around much.
I have 5 of them in a drawer, not a collector or an enthusiasts, just keeping them around for the day they get discontinued, they may become rare, they may not, either way it sounds fun.

37:36 I just looked up Jesse Linam and he's still alive and kicking at 101 years young! Must have been the $2 bills that brought him luck :)
Wow! I hadn't looked him up recently. Great to see he's still alive. Thanks for sharing.
When I lived in Vietnam I noticed a lot of people had $2 bills in their wallets. They too were under the impression that they were rare. The last time I went back to VN my wife took a bunch of them and $1 coins. She made a nice profit. 😆
I love the love story about the 2 dollar bill truly heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time..❤❤
Thank you! It was amazing to meet Myrta and have the chance to capture her story. It's a segment I am really proud of, and she said it served the honor of her husband well.
Great Documentary. I really liked it.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Fantastic Documentary, Great Channel
Much appreciated!
Not specifically into $2 bills but picked up an old 1917 $2 legal tender note. Really cool how intricate the old bills were.
That is a GREAT bill! The current $2 is nice, but may of the older twos are better
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary yeah, I tend to like our older currency a little more. Though the current $2 bill is the best in my opinion out of modern currency.
What a great documentary. Thank you for creating this gift and sharing it with us.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
This is education in the way I wanna see in school I might even get my ex teacher to show this to his class
Good idea! I'd love to see that.
I’m going to tell the airplane school I went to about it.
Fascinating
I accumulated a collection of all 20th Century series of $2 bills. Here are two quotes to expect if you use them: "How dare you pass a $2 bill in the presence of a lady!" or a woman saying, "I couldn't possibly spend a $2 bill in public. Do I look autistic?"
Fantastic job! Funny and informative. I really enjoyed this delve into two-mismatics. I've got some friends who I think will, two.
Glad to hear it! Thank you for the kind words. Yes, sharing the film would be greatly appreciated.
I got my first 2 from my grandfather. They always remind me of him.
MY UNCLE STANLEY GAVE ME AND MY BROTHER A DOLLAR EVERY SUNDAY AND WHEN THE 2 DOLLAR BILL CAME OUT HE CHANGED TO THEM EVERY SUNDAY I LOVED IT BAD WITH MONEY DIDNT SAVE MINE
Kudos.
Look for stars or 'fancy' serial numbers.
$2 bill is fun. Hand me some when I go to the store and I will give you a thumbs up .
Proudly produced in Palm Beach County Florida! ...YO!
Yes sir Mr. Mayor!
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary Someone at my job gave me a tip of 60 dollars in 2 dollar bills. Then I went to You Tube to see the history of that 2 dollar bill. Now I’m here. Fun times!!!! …YO!

A great documentary and a lot of historical and current research. Here in the Philippines a local moneychanger gets two dollar notes from time to time and I convert my pesos to get these. I quite have a stack now for gifts. :)
Very nice! Will you ever spend them? Thanks for the compliments about the film and for sharing your story.
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary I plan to give them out as gifts and use them for travelling overseas. I also get to use US Dollars when visiting Subic Bay Freeport where some shops accept both US Dollars and Philippine Pesos.
EPIC
Am very happy because now I have 3 $2 dollar bills 🙂 my favorite bill $2.
I was at a walmart one time when the machine gave me a series of $1 bills and the one before that would have had 5 of the same digit. I tried chasing who I thought was the last customer to try and get that note and almost got hit by a car in the parking lot!
Go w/ it! TThen adjust it, steady
If they’re doubting the $2 what happens when they come across a Susan B Anthony or a JFK half dollar
Also the 'golden dollars' of various designs produced since 2007.
Or even the eisenhower dollar
OR EVEN A GOLDEN DOLLAR
@@-oiiio-3993 Sacagawea 'golden' dollar has been since 2000. Lots of production for with (some of them for) general circulation stated of the presidents series started in 2007. Though the golden dollars are dated as early as 2000.
@@takecare5077 Quite correct.
An oversight / error on my part.
Sacajawea Dollars were introduced in 2000 with a Cheerios Promotion and distribution through Post Offices, in 2007 the Sac became 'Native American Dollars' with an annual change of reverse.
Great movie with a lot of good information about the "forgotten 2". Great job.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment
Any estimate for when 2017 bills will be in circulation? I’ve been ordering $2’s and I’ve just been getting 2013’s
Unlikely they'll be discontinued, but even if they are, they're not so rare that they will be worth anything more than $2 for a very long time.
Love it ❤
Quick! Somebody get Casey neistat to see this!
The RUclips aficionado and champion of the 2 dollar bill
Casey was supposed to be in the film. He agreed to an interview, but the timing never worked for us to get together on the 2 occasions I was in New York shooting. Hopefully he's seen the film.
Fantastic vid!
Thanks! Did you watch the whole movie?
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary Oh yes the whole lot. I'm a avid collector of small size FRN's. If you could with all your editing skills, Please make one about $1 bills from the red '28 to now :-)
It's a $2 bill channel, but I have branched into other currencies on occasion. I will consider doing something about the $1 soon.
Nice sheets of 'star notes' near the beginning.
Very nice video about the 2 dollar bill and all its meaning
Thank you. A lot of work went into this!
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary I can only imagine that was put together very well
Nice documentary!
Glad you enjoyed it! It was fun to make and I'm real proud of it.
That 9/11 story 😭😭😭 that’s incredible
Agreed.
i only spend 2 dollar bills. i refuse to spend any other dollar because its the best seeing how people react
Love to hear that!
I thought the 9/11 story was heart warming
It's the section I'm most proud of. Thank you for the comment.
Brought my ass to tears. I grew up there. We saw those towers every day and it's just not the same now.
This movie influenced me to take out 1600 $2 bills from BOA in Franklin, TN today. I have found some cool serial numbers so far. I am paying my rent in bills I sorted through. My landlord is going to be surprised...Hopefully he laughs it off.
Great Doc. Love it.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for commenting.
I'm a fan of the $2 dollar bill
It happened to me at Starbucks with a $1 gold coin. The cashier called it carwash token, and the $2 bill monopoly money. She wouldn't take it. The man behind me knew and gave me $3 for them. The bitch felt stupid afterwards
Love it. Thanks for sharing.
i would have told the cashier she was a real dum ass @@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary
I enjoyed this film! I didn't know some facts about this rounded bill's history and how it was stopped being made and then brought back. I have so much 20s and 1s but I might invest in getting more 2 dollar bills. I do have one 2 bill, but might get more
Thank you for watching and commenting. Yes, definitely go get $2 bills and start using them!
Thanks!
Wow! Thank you so much for this. Really appreciated.
I remember when they re entered production 0n April 13, 1976 and having them postmarked on the day of release.
The old red seal (U.S. Note) twos had been withdrawn in 1966 so to young collectors it was a special day.
I still like using them in commerce.
Well now I know how the tiger paws ended up on the $2 bill I inherited from my dad who lived in Miami. So great to now have the story behind it. Thanks!
Those aren't easy to find! When businesses take paw-stamped bills to the bank, they end up in line for destruction. They rarely give them back to customers. Of course, with your own stamp pad and Clemson paw stamp, you can make your own.
i am so intrigued and why
I love the $2 bill, so much so, that I collected every modern $2 bill since 1928 (even the 1982-B). I also have a 1917 along with a 1899. I'm looking out for 1891 treasury note but it's hard to find without taking out a second mortgage.
I have an 1869 Rainbow Note for sale. Graded a 30 by PCGS. If interested, contact me with the email posted in the ABOUT section on this channel. Glad you love the $2 bill and thanks for watching my videos!
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary I'm very interested. I'll contact you.
Only $2 I have left is a "lowball" note. 2013 $2, pcgs graded Good 4

I love buying them from you and using them at stores, putting them back in circulation 😂.

I seen one two dollar bill grom 1776. 2old ladys had one in a picture frame in p'burg n.j. so cool
I live in grand island Nebraska, didn't expect to see hornady in this documentary
Did you see some of their $2s floating around?
@@TheTwoDollarBillDocumentary i see $2 bills about 2-3 times a month in circulation here, not super often but as the documentary explained, not many people spend $2 bills they usually just hold on to them for either sentimental value or because they're seen as rare/discontinued to most people
Right, but Hornady gives them out with instructions to spend them. I guess people still decide to keep a few for themselves!
