Well technically all disabled and elderly people should have to be given ground floor apartments only….you’re not even supposed to use an elevator during a fire or an earthquake…elevators can stop working during these emergencies with you inside….so let’s get real. It should be made a law that if you have mobility issues that you have to live ground floor and that apartment buildings can only rent ground floor apartments to these kinds of people who need them. Then they could easily get out and escape.

Ummm…NO landlords can get elevator repairs or inspections right now. Do you have any clue how backed up they are??? You can’t just call a handyman, kiddos. This is California. The laws and regulations you all wanna use to sue everyone, are what caused this in the first place. Most companies are almost a year backlogged. They’re lucky they got two months. I know we ignore the mentally ill but I thought not accommodating the physically handicapped caused an instant rainstorm of lawyers. This smells like serious incompetence and corruption.
Well why isn’t it instead a law that all apartment buildings have to rent their ground floor levels to mobility impaired people like disabled and elderly? You’re not supposed to take an elevator if there’s a fire or earthquake or another situation where power loss is possible because you can get trapped and die in the elevator. What about that? Or did people completely forget the rules of elevators? And many older elevators now aren’t having parts made for them anymore…so maintenance workers have had trouble finding parts….that will happen more and more to more elevators as time goes on. Shouldn’t we instead look for better alternatives to elevators…something that doesn’t require maintenance or power to run….and start getting rid of elevators….and one thing that can be done right away is pass a law that ground floor apartments be reserved for actual people who need them because of mobility issues….then those people can just open their door and move outside without any problems.
I worked in property management dispatching contractors for plumbing, electrical and or elevator issues. When it came to elevator issues they'd became our top priority .we had a specialist out within a couple of hours to determined the issue. Sometimes the parts needed to do the repair would take weeks to allocate because the elevator is out dated and parts are no longer being manufactured. In this case I believe this elevator needs replacement since they're having trouble fixing it. Which means it would cost them 10 to 20k to replace. No landlord is prepared for that .

@@killingerkit is safety, if there's a fire he can't get out. Secondly, it's violation of federal law, ada lawyers should take this, because this is an open and shut case regardless. They have to do 1 of 2 things, 1 either move him to the lower floor or b place him in a hotel until it gets fixed. This is an actual federal violation and the owner can straight up go to jail.

It sucks they only have one elevator, but the guy _did_ know that before signing a lease. Also, he specifically chose not to get a first floor apartment. And the apartment complex _does_ have up to 30 days to fix things like elevators since they must get inspected by the city after repairs. Now, if it has been 6 months, that’s another story.
No that attorney would lose that argument that the tenant knew that the elevator could break down. Those are living necessary repairs that have to be addressed immediately ie toilets, water/electricity supply, stairs and fire escape access. If a tree fell on the property hit the roof that’s a 30 day fix. If it cannot be fixed or unsafe for tenants-the landlord has to rehouse tenants at their expense. They have insurance for those repairs & costs. This elevator should have been addressed immediately. No excuses.

Oh wow I just met him earlier this week, I delivered food to him and based from our interactions he seemed like a pretty cool guy. I hope everything goes well for him.
The frustration is heightened in knowing his landlord WILL fix the elevator BUT they morally should do so willingly as opposed to being legally forced to do it. I'm glad he's getting your help and he has a great outlook on his life. I'm becoming increasingly disabled and blows my mind why some people can find joy watching others struggling.

Immediately probably isn't possible. I'm sure if it was some simple $500 service call to the local maintenance company it would have been done the next day. It's probably some major component like the motor needs replacement, there's none in stock and there's a 60 day lead time on manufacturing. Having a broken elevator makes your whole building feel like a dump and any competent property manager would fix it asap.

Many are much stronger than anything you could need for a few story building and ready to be shipped across the US. As the literal driving force of an elevator you would be a terrible business owner if didn't have components ready for sale like replacement motors. No one would ever expect their elevator to be out of service for 60 days+ because a part is not available. I could manufacture the dyes - Eddy current test - stamp - forge all the parts and shot blast everything for a motor before your estimated time for a corporation to send one out... Immediately is more than possible. I'm a heavy press operator - I literally make the parts for different motor companies.

What you suggest, buying any motor or even a more powerful one, would put the elevator out of design specifications. You cannot pass the yearly inspection, spot inspections, or even have insurance on an out of spec elevator. This includes fines per unit from when the change happened, until it is fixed. What they need is the exact motor, if this is the problem. If that is not available replacement is the only option.

The “luxury” tagline on the side of the building somehow makes this story even worse. There should be multiple elevators for this very reason. It usually takes a month or longer for parts to come in, then they have to install them, then they have to have it inspected. This dude needs a first floor apartment whenever one becomes available.
He should ALREADY be in a ground level apartment. That was incredibly stupid of him, to lease an apartment that required a functioning elevator for him to access. At this point in his life, he's old enough to know better. Now, he's forcing his problems onto others. Somehow, I suspect that there is a legitimate reason that the elevator was/is still down. And, considering the area, I expect that most of the tenants in that building have lodged complaints. And, I'm sure that the management team is tired of the whining, and want the elevator fixed, too.
With rent being so expensive in CA the owner of the building has to have the funds to make the proper repairs to the building. There has to be some major fines the owner will pay or the tenants should also be able to sue the owner for not following Federal and State laws.

@@DellikkilleD That would require an eviction...which the courts wouldn't approve on account of the MASSIVE ADA violation (as well as violations of state laws requiring landlords maintain the property in a liveable state). They could go with an illegal eviction, but that would require physically removing the victim from the apartment...which would be assault and kidnapping in addition to an illegal eviction. Which just gets them jail time and probably a court order for the elevator to be fixed by a third party at their expense.

Well not necessarily. Persons that have disabilities from birth (especially physical ones) tend to actually get into the FEW low income units that are in LA county. Not saying that the owners aren’t getting paid through programs.

The owners are going to receive an “order to cure defect” (fix the elevator) and a large fine for the denial of access for the time it was out of order. As for their “alternatives,” they’re not legally permissible options as they placed the sole responsibility and cost for working around the owner’s malfeasance onto the tenant. The city should also clearly address the misuse of the fire department. They should also require training on the ADA/ADAAA for the property managers and owners because they clearly slept through it or didn’t bother with it in the first place.
I commented above in regard to the property management . I don't think they lack training. I believe this elevator is from the 1990s and is no longer in production for parts . I worked in property management and parts become difficult to allocate for old models. I believe the management company is being put on hold because the landlord does not want to buy a new model elevator ,it'll cost thousands and their more than likely waiting to see if they can find the part replacements.

This happens all over apparently, I live in an apartment building designated for disabled individuals and it took three weeks for them to fix the flashing light right outside my door, despite me telling them that I was an epileptic and that the nonstop light switch rave OUTSIDE my door whenever I go to leave or unlock my door I would need to cover my eyes. Apparently we live in the age where "it's not my problem unless everyone is going to know it was my responsibility"

I live in an apartment complex consisting of 4 buildings, 3 floors each. The building I live in has had elevator breakdowns from time to time during the 9 years I've been living here. Recently my building's elevator was out of order for over a year, so tenants and the maintenance crew had only the stairways to go up and down. (I'm on the 3rd flr.) Finally at long last they fixed the elevator. I truly thought our elevator was going to be out of order forever, that tenants would just have to accept it. It sounds like Wheels and his neighbors might have a long wait for elevator repairs.

I had the same thoughts. They may just be waiting for a part or parts to arrive. My wife was rear ended with damage to the rear bumper of her 2020 Pacifica. It took six month to get all the parts in to fix it. She just got it back 3 months ago.
I’m disabled too and I’m also physically handicapped even though I don’t use mobile aid at all beside white cane 🦯 for legally blind. That’s Not acceptable at all 😒❤I hope this disabled man will be alright . I’m praying 🙏🏾 that they’ll accommodate him. For me stairs are way much scarier than elevator to be claustrophobic . I’m also afraid of stairs as depth perception issues that cause me fear of falling down. God bless your heart 💜😇😊
Contact the monrovia elevator department, apart of industrial relations. File a complaint of compliance violation, they will start to process of inspecting, red tag, and start the fine process along with giving them a 30 day window to fix with them being liable. Ask for an inspector to come out.
Definitely suffering emotional distress. Never knowing what could happen ( power outages etc) he should seek to move to lower level units in the future. This would be scary

@@RS-dm4yo exactly, I struggled with the same thing with my landlord. They said “NO” to a service animal, which is technically illegal, but they have every right to not renew my lease if I got one anyway. So rather than risk it, I didn’t get the ESA.

ADA does not cover Emotional Support Animals at all, so unless your state has some weird loophole saying it is, you got no standing. The door could open at the fire floor exposing you to extreme heat and smoke. Elevator repairs can be minor or major depending on the problem. Minor elevator repairs may take a few hours, while major repairs can take days or even weeks. You should take this into consideration when looking to live in a building with elevators

I wonder if anyone there knows that elevator repair issues are a national problem. Spare parts for many old elevators do not exist. They can’t be fixed. It is prohibitively expensive to replace them. If somebody wanted to start a business doing 3-D modeling for repairs of elevators, they could make a fortune.
my friend had same issue in downtown LA told a lawyer who specializes in disability issues. he sued the management company and got my friend $250K sue their arse !
My mom is in the same situation in Korean/Mid-Wilshire area! She is on the 14th floor of a building and the wheelchair elevator has not been working for weeks now! Who can we contact?!?!?! She is a senior and we worry about an emergency.
When no one ensures ADA is kept up they will let things go. Handicapped access was how very little of it exists was tbe first thing to be ignored during cvd
A broken elevator if it’s the mechanical issue that has to do with the Lift it’s in the 100-150k to fix. I worked for a restaurant that was a historical building and its Elevator was broken, the owner tried to get it fixed, they quoted back in 2014 150k to replace the motor for the lift, so I can imagine it’s expensive as hell in 2024

I love this guy already. He is doing things the legal way and being respectful about it, also getting the word out about this. What i love is that he has never seen himself as disabled. As well as this young man is showing more respect for the fire department then many i have ever seen. he wants to leave his apartment and has a way but has spoken out that the Fire Department is not a taxi. As a licensed elevator mechanic in the trade for 20 years, it's not uncommon for a residential elevator to be out of service for weeks at a time or even longer. Parts availability for aging elevators is an issue nationwide. A complete modernization of the existing equipment takes time and money. It's not cheap, the work is time consuming and the State of California requires an inspection of the elevator whenever an alteration has been made, prior to an operating permit being issued for public use. I've dealt with this issue in residential buildings during major repairs or modernizations, when a person with disabilities lives on an upper floor in the building.
Elevator mechanics do all they can to keep elevator in service. It would be a better news story if some facts about why the elevator is down were presented. The people that work on elevators are not miracle workers. Equipment breaks just like a home heating system or a vehicle. The fix isn’t always easy. Maybe a second elevator would have been a good idea when the building was built? The single elevator in buildings that should have two is extremely common these days with new construction. Looking at the floor fixture I’m going to guess this elevator was modernized at some point, so I’m guessing it’s an older building. A second elevator probably was never an option. This news story isn’t really news without all the facts.
I fully believe property management needs to fix the elevator in a timely manner and if not provide why they are unable to, from the very beginning. It shouldn't have gotten this far. Even though I'm on Wheels side I will say if I used a wheelchair I don't know if I would live somewhere where I had to rely on an elevator to leave my building. I'm sure he has his reasons but for this exact circumstance or worst case if there was a fire. Regardless, hope this news piece actually helps him.

It's because of natural disasters. Isn't that how they make money to begin with. They get money from investors in hopes that no natural disasters happen and if they don't, then the company doesn't have to pay out people. This is mainly for home insurance since that's the one that pays big money and not car insurance since that's less money. You have had a large number of natural disasters happen in California like wildfire, flooding with homes falling off cliffs when there was that heavy rain. You also have some coastal areas where the tide was too strong and did damage to homes. Too much of it has happened.
Former Multifamily owner of 64 units here. He was offered a hotel room, which the landlord would pay for. That is way more expensive for the landlord. I would only do that in extreme situations. That tells me that landlord actually cares and is doing what they can to get it fixed. Could be a part they are waiting for or something. No part of this video seems like negligence or an uncaring position from the landlord. Nice of the news to only get one sides perspective.
1) There was no mention whatsoever of the landlord offering to pay for the hotel, you just made that part up entirely. 2) He is *trapped in the building* , he can't get to a hotel, and the landlord's suggestion that he call the fire department to get out of the building would likely mean thousands in EMT charges for the tenant. No mention of an offer to re-imburse those costs either. 3) Cable news loves having dueling viewpoints on and presenting both as "equally valid" no matter how far from reality one is. This drives viewership which increases advertising revenue, so if you *don't* see dueling viewpoints, it's likely the one you don't see didn't respond.
ADA requirements are federal, this is a million dollar settlement for sure, property management is so tripping and liable SMH this could become criminal because the death trap for certain people with special needs...
problem is he wont get anything if the property management shows they have attempted to get the elevator fixed. With old as hell equipment that are in lots of these buildings, it could take weeks to get the part.
@@doordash-m5k that's only if the property management properly maintained the elevator, if not it is neglect and negligence, and those records are on the elevator itself with inspection's names and dates, if that wasn't done for any time as required that will be no bueno for the owner, plus I'll sue just to make the other party spend money on defense, this is what they all hate and think they can just catch a pass just because the plaintiff can't afford to file, not me we are going through the process and making that persons life just as upside down as he caused in mine... So yeah, you right, but under the assumption the owner is a good person, chances are in LA that's not something we assume as consumers...

Well why isn’t it instead a law that all apartment buildings have to rent their ground floor levels to mobility impaired people like disabled and elderly? You’re not supposed to take an elevator if there’s a fire or earthquake or another situation where power loss is possible because you can get trapped and die in the elevator. What about that? Or did people completely forget the rules of elevators? And many older elevators now aren’t having parts made for them anymore…so maintenance workers have had trouble finding parts….that will happen more and more to more elevators as time goes on. Shouldn’t we instead look for better alternatives to elevators…something that doesn’t require maintenance or power to run….and start getting rid of elevators….and one thing that can be done right away is pass a law that ground floor apartments be reserved for actual people who need them because of mobility issues….then those people can just open their door and move outside without any problems.

I worked in property management dispatching contractors for plumbing, electrical and or elevator issues. When it came to elevator issues they'd became our top priority .we had a specialist out within a couple of hours to determined the issue. Sometimes the parts needed to do the repair would take weeks to allocate because the elevator is out dated and parts are no longer being manufactured. In this case I believe this elevator needs replacement since they're having trouble fixing it. Which means it would cost them 10 to 20k to replace. No landlord is prepared for that .
Fixing an elevator would be a lot cheaper than a law suit.

It sucks they only have one elevator, but the guy _did_ know that before signing a lease. Also, he specifically chose not to get a first floor apartment. And the apartment complex _does_ have up to 30 days to fix things like elevators since they must get inspected by the city after repairs. Now, if it has been 6 months, that’s another story.
No that attorney would lose that argument that the tenant knew that the elevator could break down. Those are living necessary repairs that have to be addressed immediately ie toilets, water/electricity supply, stairs and fire escape access. If a tree fell on the property hit the roof that’s a 30 day fix. If it cannot be fixed or unsafe for tenants-the landlord has to rehouse tenants at their expense. They have insurance for those repairs & costs. This elevator should have been addressed immediately. No excuses.

The frustration is heightened in knowing his landlord WILL fix the elevator BUT they morally should do so willingly as opposed to being legally forced to do it. Immediately probably isn't possible. I'm sure if it was some simple $500 service call to the local maintenance company it would have been done the next day. It's probably some major component like the motor needs replacement, there's none in stock and there's a 60 day lead time on manufacturing. Having a broken elevator makes your whole building feel like a dump and any competent property manager would fix it asap.

Many are much stronger than anything you could need for a few story building and ready to be shipped across the US. As the literal driving force of an elevator you would be a terrible business owner if didn't have components ready for sale like replacement motors. No one would ever expect their elevator to be out of service for 60 days+ because a part is not available.
I could manufacture the dyes - Eddy current test - stamp - forge all the parts and shot blast everything for a motor before your estimated time for a corporation to send one out...

What you suggest, buying any motor or even a more powerful one, would put the elevator out of design specifications. You cannot pass the yearly inspection, spot inspections, or even have insurance on an out of spec elevator. This includes fines per unit from when the change happened, until it is fixed. What they need is the exact motor, if this is the problem. If that is not available replacement is the only option.

Potentially Grossman Company Properties as a man named Johnathan Grossman is attached to the property and runs real estate lectures.
The “luxury” tagline on the side of the building somehow makes this story even worse. There should be multiple elevators for this very reason. It usually takes a month or longer for parts to come in, then they have to install them, then they have to have it inspected. This dude needs a first floor apartment whenever one becomes available.
He should ALREADY be in a ground level apartment. That was incredibly stupid of him, to lease an apartment that required a functioning elevator for him to access. At this point in his life, he's old enough to know better. Now, he's forcing his problems onto others.
Somehow, I suspect that there is a legitimate reason that the elevator was/is still down. And, considering the area, I expect that most of the tenants in that building have lodged complaints. And, I'm sure that the management team is tired of the whining, and want the elevator fixed, too.

With rent being so expensive in CA the owner of the building has to have the funds to make the proper repairs to the building. There has to be some major fines the owner will pay or the tenants should also be able to sue the owner for not following Federal and State laws.

@@DellikkilleD That would require an eviction...which the courts wouldn't approve on account of the MASSIVE ADA violation (as well as violations of state laws requiring landlords maintain the property in a liveable state). They could go with an illegal eviction, but that would require physically removing the victim from the apartment...which would be assault and kidnapping in addition to an illegal eviction. Which just gets them jail time and probably a court order for the elevator to be fixed by a third party at their expense.

Because even though we are all one tribe we are taught that family is all that matters.
The owners are going to receive an “order to cure defect” (fix the elevator) and a large fine for the denial of access for the time it was out of order. As for their “alternatives,” they’re not legally permissible options as they placed the sole responsibility and cost for working around the owner’s malfeasance onto the tenant. The city should also clearly address the misuse of the fire department. They should also require training on the ADA/ADAAA for the property managers and owners because they clearly slept through it or didn’t bother with it in the first place.
I commented above in regard to the property management . I don't think they lack training. I believe this elevator is from the 1990s and is no longer in production for parts . I worked in property management and parts become difficult to allocate for old models. I believe the management company is being put on hold because the landlord does not want to buy a new model elevator ,it'll cost thousands and their more than likely waiting to see if they can find the part replacements.

This happens all over apparently, I live in an apartment building designated for disabled individuals and it took three weeks for them to fix the flashing light right outside my door, despite me telling them that I was an epileptic and that the nonstop light switch rave OUTSIDE my door whenever I go to leave or unlock my door I would need to cover my eyes. Apparently we live in the age where "it's not my problem unless everyone is going to know it was my responsibility"

I live in an apartment complex consisting of 4 buildings, 3 floors each. The building I live in has had elevator breakdowns from time to time during the 9 years I've been living here. Recently my building's elevator was out of order for over a year, so tenants and the maintenance crew had only the stairways to go up and down. (I'm on the 3rd flr.) Finally at long last they fixed the elevator. I truly thought our elevator was going to be out of order forever, that tenants would just have to accept it. It sounds like Wheels and his neighbors might have a long wait for elevator repairs.

Context is important here. Days as in 2 or 3… days as in 5+ (they’d surely have said “for almost/more than a week” if it was 6+)

I’m seeing this on Monday (video now shows as 2 days old) so the story went up late Friday or sometime Saturday… elevator likely has beed down since *~last~* Monday or thereabouts
Is the regular maintenance person sick/injured… are they out of town dealing with a family matter…
But again, it could be that there is a part that needed ordered but will take time to show up if it’s backordered (but at that point you’d think that the property would update him with such info)

I had the same thoughts. They may just be waiting for a part or parts to arrive. My wife was rear ended with damage to the rear bumper of her 2020 Pacifica. It took six month to get all the parts in to fix it. She just got it back 3 months ago.

I’m disabled too and I’m also physically handicapped even though I don’t use mobile aid at all beside white cane 🦯 for legally blind. That’s Not acceptable at all 😒❤I hope this disabled man will be alright . I’m praying 🙏🏾 that they’ll accommodate him. For me stairs are way much scarier than elevator to be claustrophobic . Contact the monrovia elevator department, apart of industrial relations. File a complaint of compliance violation, they will start to process of inspecting, red tag, and start the fine process along with giving them a 30 day window to fix with them being liable. Ask for an inspector to come out.

ADA does not cover Emotional Support Animals at all, so unless your state has some weird loophole saying it is, you got no standing. Elevator repairs can be minor or major depending on the problem. Minor elevator repairs may take a few hours, while major repairs can take days or even weeks. You should take this into consideration when looking to live in a building with elevators

I wonder if anyone there knows that elevator repair issues are a national problem. Spare parts for many old elevators do not exist. They can’t be fixed. It is prohibitively expensive to replace them. If somebody wanted to start a business doing 3-D modeling for repairs of elevators, they could make a fortune.

My mom is in the same situation in Korean/Mid-Wilshire area! She is on the 14th floor of a building and the wheelchair elevator has not been working for weeks now! Who can we contact?!?!?! She is a senior and we worry about an emergency.

A broken elevator if it’s the mechanical issue that has to do with the Lift it’s in the 100-150k to fix. I worked for a restaurant that was a historical building and its Elevator was broken, the owner tried to get it fixed, they quoted back in 2014 150k to replace the motor for the lift, so I can imagine it’s expensive as hell in 2024

I love this guy already. He is doing things the legal way and being respectful about it, also getting the word out about this. What i love is that he has never seen himself as disabled. As well as this young man is showing more respect for the fire department then many i have ever seen. he wants to leave his apartment and has a way but has spoken out that the Fire Department is not a taxi. As a licensed elevator mechanic in the trade for 20 years, it's not uncommon for a residential elevator to be out of service for weeks at a time or even longer. Parts availability for aging elevators is an issue nationwide. A complete modernization of the existing equipment takes time and money. It's not cheap, the work is time consuming and the State of California requires an inspection of the elevator whenever an alteration has been made, prior to an operating permit being issued for public use. I've dealt with this issue in residential buildings during major repairs or modernizations, when a person with disabilities lives on an upper floor in the building.
Elevator mechanics do all they can to keep elevator in service. It would be a better news story if some facts about why the elevator is down were presented. The people that work on elevators are not miracle workers. Equipment breaks just like a home heating system or a vehicle. The fix isn’t always easy. Maybe a second elevator would have been a good idea when the building was built? The single elevator in buildings that should have two is extremely common these days with new construction. Looking at the floor fixture I’m going to guess this elevator was modernized at some point, so I’m guessing it’s an older building. A second elevator probably was never an option. This news story isn’t really news without all the facts.

Even though I'm on Wheels side I will say if I used a wheelchair I don't know if I would live somewhere where I had to rely on an elevator to leave my building. Why do you consider this a solution vs fixing the actual elevator? Are they going to move every item he owns without breaking or misplacing things down to the first floor and then set it all up for him?

Your landlord/property management does NOT care about you or your personal problems. They are in business to make $$$$$$$. Living conditions in apartment buildings worldwide are despicable.
They are not refusing to fix the elevators. Elevators are notoriously breaking down in buildings. They take time to get fixed.

It's because of natural disasters. Isn't that how they make money to begin with. They get money from investors in hopes that no natural disasters happen and if they don't, then the company doesn't have to pay out people. This is mainly for home insurance since that's the one that pays big money and not car insurance since that's less money. You have had a large number of natural disasters happen in California like wildfire, flooding with homes falling off cliffs when there was that heavy rain. You also have some coastal areas where the tide was too strong and did damage to homes. Too much of it has happened.

And this is a “Luxury” apartment complex. Imagine what apartment management does (or more likely doesn’t do) for its tenants.

Former Multifamily owner of 64 units here.
He was offered a hotel room, which the landlord would pay for. That is way more expensive for the landlord. I would only do that in extreme situations. That tells me that landlord actually cares and is doing what they can to get it fixed. Could be a part they are waiting for or something.
No part of this video seems like negligence or an uncaring position from the landlord. Nice of the news to only get one sides perspective.
1) There was no mention whatsoever of the landlord offering to pay for the hotel, you just made that part up entirely.
2) He is *trapped in the building* , he can't get to a hotel, and the landlord's suggestion that he call the fire department to get out of the building would likely mean thousands in EMT charges for the tenant. No mention of an offer to re-imburse those costs either.
3) Cable news loves having dueling viewpoints on and presenting both as "equally valid" no matter how far from reality one is. This drives viewership which increases advertising revenue, so if you *don't* see dueling viewpoints, it's likely the one you don't see didn't respond.
ADA requirements are federal, this is a million dollar settlement for sure, property management is so tripping and liable SMH this could become criminal because the death trap for certain people with special needs...
problem is he wont get anything if the property management shows they have attempted to get the elevator fixed. With old as hell equipment that are in lots of these buildings, it could take weeks to get the part.
@@doordash-m5k that's only if the property management properly maintained the elevator, if not it is neglect and negligence, and those records are on the elevator itself with inspection's names and dates, if that wasn't done for any time as required that will be no bueno for the owner, plus I'll sue just to make the other party spend money on defense, this is what they all hate and think they can just catch a pass just because the plaintiff can't afford to file, not me we are going through the process and making that persons life just as upside down as he caused in mine...
So yeah, you right, but under the assumption the owner is a good person, chances are in LA that's not something we assume as consumers...
ADA lawsuit would be a slam dunk.
